AUGUST 2018, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE BACK FROM AUSTIN TEXAS TO EL PASO. BEFORE MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NYLE MAXWELL JEEP ASSESSED AN EVAPORATIVE LEAK CODE. DICK POE JEEP IN EL PASO ASSESSED AND ATTEMPTED REPAIR TWICE. DICK POE DODGE FINALLY ASSESSED A CRACK IN THE FUEL TANK. CHRYSLER PAID FOR THE REPAIR.
FIRST OF ALL I AM 70 YEARS OLD...SO IF I DESCRIBE ANYTHING WRONG...PLEASE BARE WITH ME....I BOUGHT THIS JEEP IN SEPT 2018.....I LOVE JEEPS....PREVIOUSLY I HAD A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 190,000 MILES...I ACTUALLY HAD NO VEHICLE RUNNING PROBLEMS...THE BODY FRAME RUSTED OUT...SO I WANTED A GOOD RUNNING JEEP AT A REASONABLE PRICE....WHENEVER I DRIVE MY JEEP TO GO SHOPPING....IF I MAKE A 20 MILE TRIP..THEN STOP...GO TO ANOTHER STORE & TRY TO START IT ....IT WILL NOT TURN OVER....A FEW TIMES I HAD TO CALL AAA TO CHECK THE BATTERY....II WANT TO FEEL SAFE IN MY JEEP...& MY MECHANIC SAID SOMETHING ABOUT VAPOR LOCK....NO RECALL...CANNOT BE FIXED....PLEASE HELP ME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND ATTEMPTING TO START, THERE WAS A STRONG FUEL ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR MONTHS DUE TO NO PLATES ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 280,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN TURNING THE IGNITION TO THE ON POSITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START UNTIL SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE LOW GAS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DROPPED TO EMPTY BUT THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE FAILURES RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000. UPDATED 4/20/15*CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE LISTED ON THE RECALL. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE EMITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. I WENT TO GET A NEW INSPECTION STICKER & RECEIVED A REJECTION STICKER IT READ "THE OBD FUEL SYSTEM MONITOR WAS DISABLED WHEN AN ASSOCIATED CONFIGURATION REGISTER WAS INADVERTENTLY CLEARED PRIOR TO RELEASE." DATE OF OWNER NOTIFICATION WAS NOVEMBER 18, 2005. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2013 AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING AN EMISSIONS PROBLEM STARTING 4-5 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED IT. I'M STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM TODAY, AND DEALER REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
I BOUGHT MY GD CHEROKEE USED WITH 71K MILES. I JUST HAD MY FIRST OIL CHANGE BEFORE HEADING OUT ON A CAMPING TRIP FOR THE WEEKEND. ON THE RETURN TRIP, I HAD JUST TURNED ONTO THE HIGHWAY (55 MPH ZONE). I AM 6'4" TALL. THE PREVIOUS OWNER WAS SHORTER THAN ME. THE SEAT WAS IN THE WRONG POSITION (I NOW KNOW). WHILE SWITCHING FROM GAS PEDAL TO BRAKE PEDAL, MY KNEE HIT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR TURNED OFF. I IMMEDIATELY REACHED FOR THE KEY AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. IT LUNGED THE WAY A MANUAL TRANSMISSION DOSE WHEN THE CLUTCH IS LET OUT TOO QUICK. I MOVED MY SEAT BACK AWAY FROM THE WHEEL. NOW I DRIVE IT FROM FARTHER BACK, WHICH MEANS I NEED TO SIT UP STRAIGHTER, WHICH MEANS MY HEAD HITS THE CEILING OFTEN. I HAVE THE LIMITED EDITION AND I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT THE SEAT CAN'T GO DOWN FAR ENOUGH FOR ME TO DRIVE IT COMFORTABLE WITHOUT TURNING THE CAR OFF WHICH HAS GOT TO BE HORRIBLE FOR THE CAR. *TR
STRONG GAS SMELL. ON START UP AND CONTINUES WHILE IN MOTION. WHILE HAVING OIL CHANGES AND OTHER MAINTENANCE OVER THE YEARS, HAVE COMPLAINED AND HAD TECHNICIANS TO CHECK WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. NOTHING HAS EVER BEEN FOUND BY TECHS. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AFTER YEARS OF HAVING IT LOOKED AT. I NOW HAVE 75000. MILES ON IT. THIS IS A CONCERN AND IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
WHEN BACKING INTO PARKING SPACE THE CAR TOOK OFF LIKE A ROCKET SHIP/FULL THROTTLE (5.7 HEMI) LIKE IT HAD A MIND OF IT'S OWN. THE RESULT WAS PROPERTY DAMAGE (UNKNOWN AMOUNT) AND CAR DAMAGE OVER $7600.00 NOT INCLUDING CAR RENTAL FOR 2 WEEKS. CHRYSLER SENT INSPECTOR TO BODY SHOP AND THEIR DETERMINATION WAS THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND SAID THE CASE IS CLOSED. A JEEP/CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY JANUARY 31, 2014 UNDER WARRANTY. WE KNOW THIS WAS NOT DRIVER ERROR. IT WAS THE SCARIEST 15 SECONDS OF OUR LIVES AND COULD HAVE EASILY KILLED SOMEONE. NOW WE WONDER WHEN WILL IT HAPPEN AGAIN? WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, HAS THERE EVER BEEN AN ENGINE GOING TO FULL THROTTLE ACCIDENT INVOLVING A 2005 JEEP/CHRYSLER PRODUCT? *TR

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE SMELLED FUEL WHILE IN THE CABIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
ALL INTERIOR DOOR PANELS ARE CRACKED AROUND THE DOOR HANDLES. THREE OUT OF FOUR DOOR HANDLES HAVE SNAPPED OFF AND THE VERY LAST ONE IS HANGING ON BY A THREAD. THE HANDLES SEEM TO BE ATTACHED TO THE ACTUAL DOOR PANEL WHICH IS COMPRISED OF HARD PLASTIC. THE DESIGN OF THE DOOR PANEL AND THE HANDLE BEING ATTACHED IS BAD AND A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU CAN'T EXIT THE VEHICLE IF YOUR CAR DIES AND YOU HAVE NO POWER TO OPEN THE WINDOWS. ADDITIONALLY, IF YOU NEED TO FORCE THE DOORS OPEN FROM THE INSIDE DUE TO A WRECK, CAR ON FIRE, PANICKING ETC., 9X'S OUT OF TEN YOU DON'T HAVE HANDLES AND ANY WEIGHT OR PRESSURE TO REMAINING HANDLES IF ANY WHILE CAUSE THEM TO JUST SNAP OFF. MY CAR SMELLS OF GAS CONSTANTLY AND THE LIGHT COMES ON TO TELL ME TO CHECK THE GAS CAP. I EVENTUALLY REPLACED THE GAS CAP AFTER CHECKING IT ALL OF THE TIME AND NOW THE CAR JUST SMELLS OF GAS AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON SOMETIMES. I'VE HAD THE CAR CHECKED BY MECHANICS AND THE JEEP DEALER TO NO RESOLVE. THE CONSTANT GAS SMELLS GIVE ME BAD HEADACHES AS WELL AS CONCERN WHEN I'M DRIVING. *TR
ANYTIME I FILL UP MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH GAS IT DOESN'T SHUT OFF AND OVER FLOWS ALL OVER THE PLACE. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT GAS STATION I FILL UP AT IT HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND IT DOES SEEM TO BE A RECURRENCE WITH THE JEEP PRODUCT. I HAVE NOT CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM AS OF YET BECAUSE I FEEL IT IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH JEEPS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT. A TRIP TO THE GAS PUMP COST $45+ THEN CARWASH 5+ IT'S A PAIN JUST TO GET GAS. YOU ALL SHOULD LOOK INTO RECALLING THE PARTS AND MAKING JEEP FORK OVER THE MONEY TO FIX THIS ISSUES THAT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET SO IT'S CLEARLY A PROBLEM. *TR
