Your front and rear sub-frames have severely rusted, which the owner describes as creating a safety hazard for you, your family, and other drivers on the road. The owner reports that Chrysler is aware of this corrosion problem in 2010 Jeep Compass models but has not issued a recall, despite the sub-frames being critical structural components. Addressing this issue will likely require replacement of the rusted sub-frame components.

PURCHASED IN 2017, 4 MONTHS LATER PUT CLOSE TO $4000.00 IN SUSPENSION AND FUEL FILLER TUBE DUE TO EXTREME RUSTING. NOW ON APRIL 15, 2019 TOOK IT IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND WAS WRITTEN ON PAPER BUT NOT TOLD TO ME. I JUST WAS GOING THROUGH THE PAPERS TODAY BECAUSE THE BBB SAID THEY CAN'T HANDLE MY PROBLEM. MDH 0826XX IS A SAFETY BULLETIN THAT EXTENDED THE COVERAGE FOR THIS PROBLEM. I STILL OWE ON THIS AND THE DEALER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL OF THESE PARTS I PAID FOR SOME ALREADY BUT THIS I WON'T PAY FOR. WHY ISN'T RANDY WISE CHYRSLER RESPONSIBLE? ALL THESE SAFETY THINGS SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED BEFORE THEY SOLD IT WITH TERRIBLE SAFETY DEFECTS THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF. YOU CAN'T DO ALL THE SUSPENSION WORK THEY DID AND NOT NOTICE A ROTTEN CRADLE!!! I AM MORE UPSET NOWTHAN I CAN EVEN SAY. I'M A 69 YEAR OLD WOMAN WITH A 72 YR OLD DISABLED HUSBAND!!
THE BALL JOINT ON THE JEEP HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED 2 TIMES ON THE LEFT. ONE TIME AT 42,000 MILES. THE SECOND TIME AT 85,000 MILES. ALSO THE RIGHT SIDED BALL JOINT AND CONTROL ARM HAD TO BE REPLACED. FAILURE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN LEAD TO THE WHEEL COMING OFF AND WRECKS. INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET AND THE MECHANICS I HAVE SPOKEN WITH SAY THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN THESE PARTS WEAR OUT AS FREQUENTLY AS THEY ARE IN THIS COMPASS AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE TREAD WAS PREMATURELY WORN. THE CONTACT TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO A TIRE SHOP MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE LOWER FRONT CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. UPDATED 8/11/14*CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, HE NOTICED A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT ALL THE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
