POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM)
Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016 Tucson vehicles manufactured May 20, 2015 through May 31, 2016 and equipped with a 7-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission. Certain driving conditions and high temperatures may cause the vehicle to not move if the accelerator pedal is pressed and released repeatedly.
Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will update the Transmission Control Module software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on October 28, 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 149.

Your 2016 Hyundai Tucson GDI engine is consuming oil much faster than normal, causing the oil level to drop dangerously low between changes. You've experienced stalling during acceleration, had to replace the turbocharger, and most recently the engine shook violently on the highway when you ran out of oil; the check engine light then came on and stayed on. The dealership suspects engine damage but won't cover repairs under warranty since there are no active recalls, leaving you responsible for all repair costs.

Car died/lost power while driving in traffic 11/28/25. Good Samaritan was kind enough to push me off the road out of traffic. Car was towed to Hyundai dealer that day, then 12/1 told engine failure, required engine replacement.

My Tucson has been using an absurd amount of oil for the past 30,000 plus miles I had it in the shop for repairs for the exhaust/ turbo leaking due to broken stud bolt that finally was covered under warranty. But did nothing for the burning of oil. No oil leaks.

December 2024: Hyundai dealership diagnosed my transmission as defective (unable to shift properly) and recommended a full replacement. Despite this, they assured me the vehicle was "safe to drive" without disclosing risks.

I already had a recall scheduled 4 days before this accident but 2 days before the engine failure I heard a ticking in the engine , didn’t think much of it because the engine was still running ( 93k miles on the car) so I was going to tell the dealer the problem when I took it for the recall fix appointment but on the way home my car instantly went from 70-30 in the middle of the highway I had the car towed to the Hyundai Dealer and they said rod had broke and said also something about the oil being dirty when I literally had the oil changed days before , but end result my 2nd owners warranty didn’t cover the vehicle even with rod failures being a recurring problem with my trim.

I have been to multiple Hyundai dealerships, and opened about 3 to 4 Hyundai consumer cases; for WELL known engine problems. My vehicle has failed oil tests and combustion tests done by Hyundai dealers. Springfield Hyundai/ Genesis kept my vehicle for 5 months claiming they found issues with the engine that was consistent with the other vehicles recalled for obsessive oil consumption.

I have a 2016 Hyundai Tuscon Limited Turbo which I bought USED in August of 2018. I have made multiple complaints to Jenkins Hyundai of leesburg about my car hesitating and not going like it should and almost causing multiple accidents because it wouldn’t go when it should. Hello, I bought a used 2016 hyundai tucson eco less then a month ago from autonation that had only 40,000 miles on it. Within 2 weeks of buying the vehicle, the check engine turned on for a p259f trouble code for a turbocharger position sensor that I had got from using autonation's vehicle app.

While stopped at a stop sign I let off the brake and hit the gas and the car did not want to move it seemed like it was in neutral and once it starts moving the car starts jerking and slips from 1 to 2nd gear. Same thing has happened at traffic lights, and merging into traffic. After taking it to the dealer and reprogramming the computer it will still do it.

When pulling out onto a road from a stop sign, my car will barely accelerate, and the rpms will race for a few seconds before the car suddenly lurches into gear and finally moves. This has caused several near accidents (thankfully, no accidents yet). This doesn't happen every time, but enough to be very dangerous, especially with new drivers in my house.

It shocks me the fatality rate with these vehicles isn't through the roof, I've taken my vehicle to the shop 4 times already and haven't had it 6 months yet, the complete loss of power when you accelerate is dangerous & I'm surprised accidents while pulling out into on coming traffic isn't extremely high, because the lack of power,pull, hesitation & at times nearly cutting off is gonna get someone hit by a semi and the only thing either of the hyundai service departments say is "it's just the double clutch 7 gear transmission and that's normal, well if the transmission skipping and causing studdering hesitation and little to no acceleration when taking off is normal then I don't know how hyundai is still in business, it's awful and it's dangerous.

About four months after we purchased our vehicle, it began rattling when we would slow down to park or make turns. The best way I can explain is like when a manual transition is about to shut off because its not going in to the correct gear. A few months after purchasing the vehicle in april 2017 I took it in for service and complained about a hesitation in acceleration. I informed the dealer that the problem occurred in normal driving mode and was worse in eco mode. The dealer checked for the latest tcm update, said it had the recall update installed and said that all was ok and don't drive in eco mode.

While driving in stop and go traffic such as a left turn or on the freeway at rush hour, my vehicle will completely cease to accelerate. You can audibly hear the clutches grinding instead of ticking as they used to as well. The dct seems to put the car in a neutral state upon stop and go, and, not move.

We currently lease the 2016 hyundai tucson fuel cell. On multiple occasions there has been a sudden and sporadic loss of power during normal driving operation. Most recently, while traveling approximately 70 MPH on a ca fwy the car lost about 90% of its power without warning bringing max speed to less than 15 MPH!

I purchased this car in april & only had 2400 miles on it when this happened! We were driving along the interstate on 8/11/16, everything was fine until we stopped (in bumper to bumper traffic) to pay the toll. Upon acceleration, the car just revved, no forward movement at all!

At times, when the vehicle is at a complete stop, it will not move. The engine will rev in rpms, and was able to get it to go by playing with gear selector. This also has happened when the car was parked in a parking garage for 7 hours.

Dct disengages upon stop and won't re-engage into first, leaving the car idling at high RPM's until the vehicle finally engages -potentially dangerously.

When in driving, coming to a stop, the car lunges forward, must keep foot on brake, hyundai says this is normal for the tucson. I think this is a problem. Reported it in my first service and told it's hyundai's problem.

I have hyundai tucson limited 1.6t with the dual clutch transmission. I have only had my new car 2 weeks and have experienced the failure of the car to move in drive 4 times. The vehicle has refused to accelerate 3 times when the temp is > 90 degrees and the vehicle has stopped at a stop sign/light. It acts like the clutch on a manual transmission is engaged, but it's an automatic. I have had this happen 3 times and the mileage is only 6300 miles.

Issue has occurred 6 times. After coming to a stop at a stop sign on a city street, the vehicle will not accelerate when the traffic light turns green. The car is still in drive and the engine RPM's increase to 4000-5000 but, the car doesn't move.
