NHTSA Campaign: 22V632000
Component: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2022 Elantra N and 2022-2023 Elantra vehicles. The emblem on the cover of the driver's front air bag may not have been welded properly, which can result in the emblem detaching upon deployment.
Risk: A detached air bag cover emblem may strike a vehicle occupant, which can increase the risk of injury.
Fix: Dealers will replace the air bag, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 14, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 234.
NHTSA Campaign: 23V526000
Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:FLUID/LUBRICANT:PUMP
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Palisade Tucson, 2023 Sonata, Elantra, and Kona vehicles. The electronic controller for the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly may contain damaged electrical components that can cause the pump controller to overheat.
Risk: An electric oil pump assembly that overheats increases the risk of a vehicle fire.
Fix: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will inspect and replace the electric oil pump controller, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed starting September 7, 2023. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 246.

Your horn keeps stopping working — it's happened at least five times since you bought the car in 2023. Before it fails completely, you'll notice the horn sound gradually getting quieter and cutting in and out over several days. When the horn doesn't work, you lose your ability to warn other drivers of hazards, which creates a serious safety risk on the road. The dealership has attempted multiple repairs but hasn't been able to permanently fix the problem.

Your horn stopped working for the third time on your 2023 Elantra, which put you at risk when another vehicle almost hit you. You've had to replace the horn multiple times at the dealership, and you've experienced the same recurring issue with your Hyundai Venue. The horn likely needs replacement again, and you believe Hyundai should issue a recall since multiple Elantra models share the same horn component.

Your vehicle's display screen randomly shuts off and turns back on while you're driving, and this has been happening intermittently for over 2 years since you bought the car in September 2023. Your dealership has inspected it but couldn't reproduce the problem during their check, and they said a software update isn't needed even though you've asked for one. The fix will likely involve a software update, checking the display unit's electrical connections, or replacing the display screen or its control module if the software doesn't resolve it.

Your car's horn stopped working at around 30,000 miles. The dealership repaired it, but the horn stopped working again at 70,000 miles. The repair may involve replacing the horn unit or checking the horn electrical circuit and wiring.

Electrical System →2 issues
Your oil drain plug fell completely out of your engine, but the low oil pressure warning light didn't come on until it was almost too late — you were traveling at 70 mph on the highway when the engine suddenly shut down completely within 2 minutes of the warning appearing. Your car lost all electrical power and had to be jumped just to put it in neutral for towing. The engine likely has severe damage, and your mechanic is recommending replacing the engine, 12-volt battery, and its module, though they're uncertain why the battery drained so quickly. The concern is that the low oil warning should have activated much sooner to prevent catastrophic engine damage.

Your car's horn doesn't work even though it's receiving power and the relay is responding when you press the button. The horn itself appears to have an internal problem preventing it from producing sound. There's no warning light or message to alert you to this issue.

Air Bags →2 issues
Your car was hit by a deer at 60 MPH on the driver's side, causing significant front-end damage and injuring you with whiplash and a concussion. The driver's front and side airbags did not deploy during the crash, even though the impact was severe enough to throw you forward and back against your seat. The vehicle was totaled and towed by police. This suggests a potential failure in the airbag system to detect and respond to a serious collision.

Your airbag warning light keeps turning on and off while you're driving. The dealer replaced the clock spring twice, but the warning light came back both times. This indicates a potential problem with your airbag system that needs to be properly diagnosed and fixed.

Engine →2 issues
Your engine is shutting off unexpectedly when you put the car in reverse, forcing you to restart it manually. The dealership has identified a potential recall issue with the ISG (Idle Stop & Go) system as the cause, but no fix is currently available. This is a serious safety concern for your delivery work since the engine could stall in traffic or on roadways.

Your car sputters and stalls at low speeds, happening once or twice nearly every time you drive. This has occurred in intersections and stop-and-go traffic on highways, creating a safety hazard. The dealer has replaced a valve twice but the problem persists. The issue likely involves fuel delivery, ignition timing, or an engine control system component that needs diagnosis and repair.

Power Train,engine →1 issue
Your engine has been sputtering badly and the check engine light came on. A mechanic diagnosed oil blowing by in the engine, which is a serious internal engine problem. The dealership changed your spark plugs and cleared the code, but the sputtering continued, so your independent mechanic advised not to drive the vehicle. Hyundai is currently inspecting your car to determine if the engine needs internal repairs or replacement.

Engine,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your car has lost power twice while driving—when you press the gas pedal, the engine stops propelling the vehicle forward without any warning lights or messages. This is particularly dangerous because it could happen on highways or at railroad crossings. Hyundai's service center was unable to reproduce or identify the problem during inspection.

Forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your forward collision avoidance system may have suddenly caused your car to slow from 60 mph to 30 mph on the highway without your input, preventing acceleration even when you pressed the gas pedal hard. A warning symbol appeared on your dashboard near the odometer display. After restarting the car, it returned to normal driving. Your dealer couldn't find a problem when checked, but you're concerned the issue could happen again while driving.

Power Train,electrical System,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your 2023 Elantra's low oil pressure warning light comes on during hard acceleration, and you notice a smoky smell from the engine. This matches a known issue where the oil pump controller in the Idle Stop & Go system can fail and overheat. The problem may require inspection and replacement of the oil pump controller or related electrical components.

Lane Departure →1 issue
Your car's lane departure warning system may not be working correctly. The complaint involves a crash, so this appears to be a safety system failure that could affect your vehicle's ability to alert you when drifting out of your lane.

Electrical System, back Over Prevention →1 issue
Your rear camera displays a green screen instead of showing what's behind your car, and the backup sensors aren't alerting you when there's an object directly behind you while in reverse. This is a safety concern since you won't get a warning if someone or something is in your path. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the camera and sensor wiring or replacing the camera module itself.

Electrical System, unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your car's battery keeps dying overnight while parked, and this is happening repeatedly even after replacing the battery three times. The most recent battery lasted only 8 months before dying again. Additionally, you're unable to lock your vehicle when the battery is completely dead. The underlying electrical drain causing the battery to discharge needs to be diagnosed and repaired, which may involve checking for parasitic electrical draws, alternator output, or faulty electrical components.

Vehicle Speed Control, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your forward collision avoidance system triggered a "Check Forward Safety System" warning while driving in rain, and the warning hasn't cleared for several weeks. This warning disables your adaptive cruise control, collision warning system, and automatic emergency braking features. The dealer acknowledged this is a known issue but refused to repair it under warranty, citing the vehicle's condition despite it being only two years old and still under warranty coverage. The fix likely involves inspecting or replacing the forward-facing safety sensor that monitors for obstacles ahead.

Vehicle Speed Control →1 issue
Your 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid was supposed to have a recall (248) completed on the vehicle speed control system back in September 2023 before you bought it used. However, you're still experiencing the same problem that the recall was meant to fix. You're unsure whether the dealer will cover the repair since the recall shows as completed on your vehicle's history, even though the issue persists.
