Your forward collision avoidance system is braking unexpectedly when oncoming traffic approaches, which nearly caused another vehicle to hit you. Additionally, the auto engine shut-off feature is stalling your car at dangerous moments, and you'd prefer to disable it permanently rather than pressing the button every time you drive.

Your vehicle's forward collision avoidance camera failed at 48,000 miles, causing your entire advanced driver assistance system to shut down. This disabled multiple safety features including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot warnings, lane departure warnings, and parking collision warnings. Your Honda dealer diagnosed an internal electrical failure in the multipurpose camera unit and replaced it for $1,950.

Your car's front camera has stopped working, which has disabled several safety and convenience features. You'll no longer have access to adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, or automatic emergency braking. The system is showing a diagnostic code U3000-49, indicating a camera failure.

Car brake warning pops up on dashboard when there is no object directly in front of the car. This occurs when there is oncoming traffic in another lane and it has happened when I am going over train tracks. It's as if the concrete curb is in front of me. My car has never stopped abruptly. This has happened over the last few years. I was unaware to report it. I did bring it up to the dealer but they didn't seem to understand.

The vehicle mistakingly thinks it recognizes an obstacle, and wrongly activates the brakes and forward collision warning. This recently occurred during highway driving with no apparent obstacles multiple times. Also (maybe related) when using adaptive cruise control, rather than adapt to a slower vehicle’s speed in-front of it, the Honda Pilot applies strong pressure on the brakes to adjust its pace. In other cars I’ve driven (Tesla, Subaru, Volvo, Chrysler, Kia) the response is a much more delicate “throttle release”. However, the Pilot mostly applies throttle or aggressively applies the brakes in situations that are very predictable and do not require the brakes to be applied. The result is an aggressive/frantic behavior, not adaptive. I keep the car/safety sensors clean and free of obstacles, decals, etc.

While driving on a road with a slight curve, the vehicle will detect an oncoming vehicle in the opposing lane and activate the automatic emergency braking system.

Vehicle repeatedly has applied emergency braking in situations where it should not have been applied. Generally, the problem is most likely to occur on two-lane roads with oncoming traffic and a bend to the right as viewed as I am driving. This has also occurred, to a lesser extent, on the highway when a car immediately in front slows and changes lanes to the right (as would be done to exit the highway). In this case, it seems like the system is too slow to recognize that the vehicle has changed lanes.

On hilly/curving section of interstate highway in West Virginia (specifically I-68 east of Morgantown), the adaptive cruise control, on multiple occasions, failed to recognize vehicles ahead and slow my vehicle to match with adaptive cruise control active. Cruise control also had difficulty controlling speed on downhill sections, at times allowing the vehicle to exceed the set speed by as many as 8 miles per hour.

For the past year and a half, I have had issues with the forward collision warning and emergency braking systems. I get false warnings to "Brake" when there are no other cars around. I have also had the car brake for no reason - one time, we were on the interstate, the emergency braking system engaged and it pulled us to the side of the road. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership numerous times and they cannot get it to reproduce. It happens sporadically and there isn't anything I can do to reproduce the issue either. I fear this will happen when a car is too close, or, living in Wisconsin, that the brakes will engage when driving on snow and/or ice. It has happened at 10 mph up to 75 mph.

The car has used Automatic braking 3 times for no reason. No one is front of us. It also used automatic braking and then made the car die? Or lose all power and there was no object in front of us, in the middle of the road. We were almost rear ended and the vehicle would not let us move. It was horrible.

Wednesday 9/28, some cloud cover but nothing on the deck, mild temps, straight highway– traveling on I-90 eastbound at 10AM, and past North Bend and the 436th Ave SE exit, our 2022 Pilot braked suddenly from 70 to about 40 mph accompanied by the red flashing BRAKING light. At that point the West bound traffic is some 100 feet away from the eastbound. We were in the left line with a speed of 70 mph with ACC activated. Just prior, I noticed an ambulance, Westbound, with lights on – in the westbound left lane, as our CMBS went bonkers eastbound. Luckily, there were no other cars near us.

I have only owned this car, purchased new from the dealer, for a few weeks. Three times already the Collision Mitigation Braking System has almost gotten me rear-ended (and almost got me punched by one of them who thought I slammed on my brakes on purpose.) -Once was on the expressway when I was changing lanes. I guess the car thought I was too close to the car in the lane I had already left, but it slammed on its brakes anyway causing a car behind me to have to avoid a collision with me. - The second was at a stop light waiting for a left turn arrow. There were several of us in line (obviously in close proximity to each other) and, when the green arrow came on to allow the turn, I started moving and the car slammed on its own brakes. The car behind me had to panic brake to avoid rear-ending me. He then started getting out of his car; furious that I'd just done that. - The third time was again from a stop at a red light, but going straight this time. The light turned green, I started moving, and after a couple seconds the car slammed on its brakes again almost getting me hit. There needs to be a way to permanently disable this feature rather than defaulting to "On" at every start. I will work on remembering to manually turn it off every start-up, and hopefully I can remember 100% of the time before someone gets injured.

When driving on highways and interstate the vehicle flashes BRAKE when the is no reason to brake. This happens multiple times per day, in our commute. The 2nd thing (and most dangerous) is the auto braking. Several times on the interstate the car has done a HARD brake while going interstate speeds, only there wasn’t a reason for it. No other vehicles were in front of us at the time. It has also happened several times on the state road that we drive daily. We have taken it to the dealership and were told it is functioning normal. It’s not. I have contacted Honda and I have a case number with them, but they have failed to contact me when they said they would (2 weeks late) We see this as an absolute danger to our family. We need an advocate. The issue is ongoing.

While driving on the freeway my vehicle suddenly brakes without me pressing the brake. There were no vehicles in front of me to trigger the Automatic Brakes sensors. The brake warning light turned on and began flashing. I was almost hit from the back by the car behind me. My car is available for inspection upon your request. I have take my vehicle to dealer service center for other electrical issues.
