Your engine mounts are wearing out prematurely, causing excessive engine vibration. The problem appears to be related to the vehicle's ECO mode cycling on and off, which puts stress on the mounts. This 2007 Honda Odyssey ex-l 3.5 l engine blue up its head gaskets and barely has 167715 miles on it. Other vehicles of the same type with over 300.000 miles are still on the road.. !!
I HAD BOUGHT MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY USED IN AUGUST 2017 PRIOR TO OUR SECOND CHILD BEING BORN. IT WAS ONE FAMILY OWNED WITH APPROXIMATELY 75K MILES ON IT. ABOUT 6 MONTHS INTO IT THE AC COMPRESSOR BROKE CAUSING THE CAR TO CEASE BEING DRIVABLE AND REQUIRING A TOW TO OUR MECHANIC. HE FOUND THAT NOT ONLY DID THE COMPRESSOR BREAK BUT ALSO THE SERPENTINE BELT AND THE TENSIONER HAD GONE. WE HAD THE REPAIR DONE AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE UNTIL ABOUT ANOTHER SIX MONTHS WENT BY AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THE AC COMPRESSOR STOPPED WORKING, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL AND REQUIRED A TOW AND THE SERPENTINE BELT AND TENSIONER WERE BROKEN AGAIN. ALL WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE INCONVENIENCE FACTOR IS MORE PROBLEMATIC. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN THE TWO YEARS THAT WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF 2007 HONDA ODYSSEYS. I HAVE INDICATED THE MOST RECENT DATE OF THE INCIDENT.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO PRIORITY HONDA ROANOKE (3311 PETERS CREEK RD, ROANOKE, VA 24019, (540) 366-0888) FOR A SERVICE INSPECTION REGARDING THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE FRONT AND DRIVER'S SIDE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,124. *TR*JB
A MISFIRE, PISTON RINGS. MECHANIC SAID ITS THE PISTON RINGS. I RAN A COMPRESSION TEST. PUT NEW COLI PACK. AS SOON AS I START THE VAN IT STARTS THE PROBLEM.
SIDE AND FRONT ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE COMING APART. THIS IS AN ARIZONA VEHICLE, NOT SUBJECT TO ACCELERATED SALT RUST. ACCORDING TO HONDA OWNER FORUMS, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR WHICH THE MANUFACTURER TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY. CONSIDERING THE CONDITION AND MILEAGE OF MY VEHICLE, MOTOR MOUNTS SHOULD NOT BE COMING APART.

ON 25-AUG-2016 WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING MY VAN HONDA ODYSSEY 2007 IN THE HIGHWAY 210 WEST BOUND, THE SPARK PLUG BROKEN INTO PIECES AND WENT INTO ENGINE MADE ENGINE DAMAGE. MY CAR HAS CLEAN MAINTENANCE HISTORY AND IT HAS RUN ONLY 56K. WE DIAGNOSED WITH HONDA DEALER (ROCK HONDA, FONTANA, CA) AND SUGGESTED ENGINE WAS DAMAGED BROKEN SPART PLUG AND WE NEED FIX THE ENGINE. AND COST IS $3900. I HAVE ASKED HELP FROM HONDA NORTH AMERICA, TORRENCE, CA AND HONDA NA NOT WILLING TO HELP WITH FULL PRICE, THEY WILL PAY $600 AS GOOD WILL. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT, HONDA NEEDS TO BUILD SAFETY TO PREVENT ANY BROKEN PIECES GOING INTO ENGINE AND SPOILING ENGINE. ALSO THIS VAN PUT OUR LIFE IN DANGER DURING DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT MY VAN'S SPARK PLUG WAS BROKEN AND PIECES OF IT WENT INTO ENGINE'S PISTON AND DAMAGED MY ENGINE. MY VEHICLE HAS CLEAN SERVICE RECORD WITH HONDA DEALER AND MILEAGE ON MY VAN 56K. THEN I TOOK IT TO HONDA DEALER (ROCK HONDA) FOR DIAGNOSIS AND HONDA DEALER ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT ENGINE HAS BEEN DAMAGED BY SPARK PLUG AND COST OF REPAIR IS $3900. THEN I OPENED A CASE WITH HONDA NORTH AMERICA DIVISION FOR HELP US TO FIX THIS ENGINE AS THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN FOR 56K MILEAGE AND MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS DEFECTIVE SPARK PLUG WHICH CAUSED MY ENGINE BROKE. THE ENGINE STALLS. THIS HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR. IT APPEARS TO BE RANDOM BUT HAS BEEN OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY THE PAST FEW MONTHS. LAST WEEK IT STALLED 3 TIMES. THE STALLING USUALLY OCCURS DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. IT OCCURS WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR WHEN I AM STOPPED. IT HAS OCCURRED ONE TIME WHILE BACKING UP. YOU CAN TELL WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. THE ENGINE SEEMS TO START RUNNING ROUGH. WHEN STOPPED, THE ENGINE WILL BE AT 800 OR 900 REVS AND THEN SUDDENLY DROP THEN JUMP UP AND THEN THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND START THE ENGINE. IT ALWAYS STARTS FINE. IT HAPPENS ON HOT AND COOL DAYS, RAINY AND SUNNY DAYS. IT HAPPENS WITH THE AC ON OR THE AC OFF. I HAVE TRIED USING GAS EXCLUSIVELY FROM EXXON AND THEN EXCLUSIVELY FROM BP FOR MONTHS AT TA TIME IN EACH CASE. NO DIFFERENCE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A MECHANIC AND TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES. NOTHING EVER SHOWS UP ON THE COMPUTER. I EVEN HAD IT STALL AS I PARKED IT AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP NOR THE MECHANICS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. TO TRY SOMETHING, I HAD THE SPARK PLUGS CHANGED AND A TUNE UP DONE. THE VEHICLE STALLED THE NEXT DAY. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO HONDA AUTOMOTIVE USA. THEY GAVE ME NO HELP OR SOLUTION OTHER THAN TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I AM VERY LEERY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE!
ENGINE MOUNTS WENT BAD. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION, THE CAR APPEARS TO JUMP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK ENGINE MOUNTS WERE CRACKED. VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. DEALER SAID IT'S NOT A COMMON PROBLEM ON MOST CARS, BUT HE'S HAD SEVERAL HONDA ODYSSEYS COME IN WITH THIS PROBLEM.
WHEN I WAS BRAKING AT SLOW SPEED THE ENGINE ACCELERATED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE HARD TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM GOING FORWARD. ONCE I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL.
ENGINE HAS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. I'VE BEEN BURNING ABOUT 3 QUARTS OF OIL PER MONTH.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR WAS RUNNING VERY POORLY. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE, EMPLOYEE HOOKED CAR TO DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER AND MISFIRE CODES CAME UP AND CAR WAS ONLY RUNNING ON 2 CYLINDERS. DROVE CAR TO MECHANIC. AFTER DIAGNOSING PROBLEM WAS EXPLAINED I WOULD NEED A FULL TUNE UP AND HEAD REPLACING. AFTER FURTHER EXPLORING MECHANIC NOTICED METAL FILINGS IN CYLINDER AND RECOMMENDED ENGINE REPLACEMENT DUE TO DAMAGE TO HOUSING AND POSSIBLY TO RINGS. WHICH WOULD COST MORE THEN VALUE OF CAR.
I HAVE A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY AND I HAD TO HAVE THE FRONT AND REAR MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACED LAST YEAR IN FEB 2014. THE CAR ONLY HAD 67000 MILES. WELL, IT HAS BEEN LESS THAT 2 YEARS AND THE MOUNTS HAVE GONE BAD AGAIN. I HAVE SEEN MANY SITES THAT HAVE COMPLAINTS OF THIS BEING MAJOR PROBLEM BUT HONDA DOES NOT WANT TO DO A RECALL. LAST TIME IT COST ME OVER $500 FOR THE 2 AND THIS TIME THE COST WILL BE ABOUT THE SAME. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED HONDA YET BUT WILL DO SO TOMORROW. ALSO, I HAD THE TIMING BELT AND TENSIONER REPLACED IN FEB 2014 AS WELL AND NOW THE WATER PUMP, TIMING BELT AND TENSIONER NEED REPLACEMENT AGAIN. THEY SIT NEXT TO THE MOTOR MOUNT AND I AM WONDERING IF THE BAD MOUNT IS ALSO DAMAGING THE WATER PUMP, ETC....
I WAS PICKING UP MY SON FROM SCHOOL WHEN I GOT BACK ON THE CAR I NOTICE SOME SMOG COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, FOR A MOMENT I THOUGH THAT THE SMOG HAVE GONE AWAY BUT WHEN I OPEN THE HOOD THERE WAS A FIRE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I TRIED TO EXTINGUISH THE FILE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUT I COULDN'T CONTAIN THE FIRE. WE CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THEY TOOK OVER. THE FIRE DESTROYED THE FRONT END OF THE CAR THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WHEN THE FIRE BEGAN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE FROM A PARKING LOT IN MY SON'S SCHOOL.
I WAS DRIVING AROUND 20MPH WHEN I SMELLED SMOKE I PULLED OVER. THERE WAS SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE CAR AROUND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. WITHIN MINUTES MY ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. MY CAR IS COMPLETELY TOTALED. MY FAMILY IS SAFE BUT WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHY THIS HAS HAPPENED AND DON'T WANT IT TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE. IF THERE IS ANOTHER WEBSITE OR AGENCY THAT I SHOULD REPORT THIS TO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER SHIELDS (FRONT COVER A AND B) WERE REPLACED ON 6/19/2012. ON 6/22/2015 THE FRONT (A AND B) CATALYTIC CONVERTER SHIELDS WERE REPLACED AGAIN AND THE THE REAR SHIELDS (A AND B) WERE REPLACED AS WELL. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BUT IT SEEMS EXCESSIVE SO I THOUGHT I WOULD REPORT IT.
WE OWN AN ODYSSEY AND CRV. BOTH OF THEM HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE HEAT SHIELD RUSTING AND MAKING NOISES WHEN ACCELERATING. THE ONLY WAY TO REPLACE IT IS TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE. IN RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE IT LOOKS LIKE MANY OTHER HONDA OWNERS WITH ALL DIFFERENT MAKES AND MODELS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. HAS THIS BEEN INVESTIGATED? THE OTHER OPTION IS TO REMOVE THIS HEAT SHIELD BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE IF YOU PARK ON GRASS OR IT COULD DAMAGE THE OTHER CAR PARTS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE CONVERTER.. *TR
WHILE EXITING A PARKING LOT AND ACCELERATING TO APROX. 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND VIBRATE VIOLENTLY ACCOMPANIED BY THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. WE SHORTLY AFTERWARD NOTICED A REDUCTION IN POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, WHO STATED THAT, THERE WERE SEVERAL MISFIRE CODES GENERATED WHEN DIAGNOSED. THE REPAIR SHOP DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS THE CYLINDER 5 COIL HAVING MELTED INTO THE CYLINDER. AS A RESULT, THE SHOP HAD TO REMOVE THE CYLINDER HEAD IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE COIL AND SPARK PLUG FROM THE VEHICLE. THE REPAIR SHOP STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE SPARK PLUG BECOMING LOOSE AND FUEL LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDER HEAD CHAMBER. THE REPAIR SHOP STATED THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD OF THESE FAILURES SEEN BY THEM. THE DEALER OF PURCHASE AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE ALERTED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO RESOLUTION. THE DEALER (KEELER HONDA, LATHAM NY) WAS IN FACT QUITE RUDE ABOUT THE FAILURE IN GENERAL. WE WERE CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED WITH THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED WITH THE TOTAL BILL OF $2411.00. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,108. *TR
THE FRONT AND RIGHT SIDE ENGINE MOUNTS FOR THIS VEHICLE WERE BROKEN AROUND 78,000 MILES. THE ENGINE MOUNTS SHOULD NOT BROKEN WITHIN THIS SHORT MILEAGES AND YEARS. THERE SEEMS LOTS OF OTHER HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ENGINE MOUNTS ISSUE. THE ENGINE MOUNT REPLACEMENT IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND THIS IS ALSO A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. THE ENGINE MOUNT, ESPECIALLY THE FRONT ENGINE MOUNT DESIGN SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A BETTER ENGINE MOUNT. *TR

THE ENGINE WAS MAKING PINGING SOUNDS LIKE LIFERS WERE BAD, BUT COMPUTER DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING WRONG AND NO ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON, TOOK TO HONDA DEALER THEY SAID BEARINGS BAD AND NEEDED NEW ENGINE. WHY WOULD THAT HAPPEN WHEN ENGINE OIL WAS MAINTAINED AND CHANGED . NEVER OVER HEATED ETC. *TR
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR PREVIOUS SIGN OF PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN UNDER HARSH CONDITIONS, AND IT WAS MAINTAINED APPROPRIATELY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL CAR INTO A DEALERSHIP WITHIN LESS THAN 1 MILE. I FELT I HAD LOST ACCELERATION AND POWER. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE SPARK PLUG BLEW THROUGH THE ALUMINUM CYLINDER HEAD AND I LOST 2 CYLINDERS ON A V6 ENGINE. I'M TOLD THAT METAL DROPPED INTO THE CYLINDER SCORING IT DEEPLY ENOUGH THAT IT CAN'T BE REPAIRED. THERE APPEARS TO BE A WEALTH OF DOCUMENTATION OF THIS PROBLEM FOR HONDA ENGINES AND HONDA HAS DENIED ANY DEFECT OR RESPONSIBILITY. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT IN ANY ACCIDENT OR INJURED BUT THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY PROBLEM, HAD I BEEN ON A MAJOR FREEWAY, I'M NOT SURE THIS WOULD HAVE WORKED OUT THE SAME. THE CAR WILL NOW HAVE TO BE TOTALED A THE REPAIR COSTS CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED ($6,000-7,500). HONDA OFFERED NO GOOD WILL IN ANY WAY. *TR
MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING VAN HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE ICON APPEARING ON MY DASH. I CALLED MY DEALER, FOR THIS PROBLEM WASN'T RESOLVED ON THE LAST SERVICE VISIT. THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN. I ADDED 3/4 QT. OF OIL DUE TO THE OIL LEVEL, AT LAST CHECK FINE, NOW INDICATED THE LEVEL TO BE AT ITS LOWEST POINT IN THE APPROVED RANGE FOR RUNABILITY. SERVICES PERFORMED, AND WHEN I PICKED IT UP, I NOTICED THE ENGINE ICON STILL FLASHING ON THE DASH. WENT IN TO GET A SERVICE ADVISOR TO VIEW, AND ON A SECOND RE-START THIS HAD DISAPPEARED. THINKING ALL WAS NOW WELL (AND WAS THIS POSSIBLY TIED TO A SOFTWARE UPDATE SERVICE?), TOOK THE VEHICLE ABOUT 35 MILES HOME TO A GROCERY STORE. WHEN I HAD FINISHED SHOPPING, AND STARTED MY VAN, THERE IT WAS AGAIN, THE ENGINE ICON, FLASHING AWAY. THE NEXT DAY I REPORTED THIS TO MY DEALER, AND THEY SAID BRING IT IN. AS THE ENGINE WAS VISIBLY HOT, I SAID I WOULD TRY AND HOPED TO MAKE IT THERE. GETTING OF THE TURNPIKE EXIT, MY VAN ENGINE QUIT AND LUCKILY I COASTED IN TO A PARK 'N RIDE PARKING LOT. I CALLED MY DEALER TO FIND OUT THEY HAD NO WRECKER BUT USED A SERVICE. THEY TOLD ME TO GET IT THERE SO THEY COULD LOOK AT IT. I COOLED THE ENGINE WITH HOOD UP ON A COOL RAINY DAY, AND RE-STARTED MY VAN, AND MADE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS SUPPLIED WITH A LOANER CAR, AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CHECK OVER MY VAN ON THE NEXT DAY. AFTER EVERYTHING, WE WERE NOTIFIED WE HAD BLOWN A HEAD GASKET, LEADING TO FAILURE OF OUR ENGINE. THIS IN SPITE OF MAINTAINING ALL FLUID LEVELS PROPERLY! WE WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE, AND NO, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WE PURCHASED DOES NOT COVER THIS WORK. VERY, VERY ANGRY!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,438.
ON DECEMBER 18, 2013, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE VAN TO AN EXPRESS OIL CHANGE COMPANY THE SAME DAY FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THEM TO READ THE CODES. THE CODES WERE RANDOM MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRES AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT I MIGHT NEED TO HAVE SPARK PLUGS CHANGED AT NEXT OIL CHANGE, BUT IT SHOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE. THE MILEAGE ON THE VAN ON THAT DATE WAS 94,482 MILES. ON FEBRUARY 7TH, WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING AND THE VAN STARTED TO DRIVE VERY SLUGGISH. I CALLED THE MECHANIC I USE FOR REPAIRS AND THEY ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE IT OTHER THAN TO BRING THE VAN IN. UPON READING THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES, THEY STATED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE OLD SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS, THE COIL PACK AND SPARK PLUG IN CYLINDER 5 HAD COMPLETELY MELTED AND FUSED TO THE WALLS OF THE CYLINDER. MY MECHANIC DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND SPOKE WITH A HONDA TECHNICIAN AND DETERMINED THAT THE ISSUE WAS DUE TO A FAULTY VCM AND THAT ONLY REPLACING THE HEAD WOULD NOT ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM. THE HONDA TECH ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THESE ARE THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT WITH 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY ENGINES. *TR

ON 04/18/14 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO TAMERON HONDA BECAUSE IT WAS MISFIRING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON THEN THE ENGINE WOULD BEGIN JERKING AND NOT RESPONDING. I PAID $5940.01 BECAUSE THEY SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED REBUILDING. THIS IS A LOT OF MONEY BUT I DID NOT HAVE A CHOICE IN THAT THEY TOLD ME I WOULD NOT GET ANYTHING ON A TRADE IN AND I REALLY COULDN'T AFFORD ANOTHER CAR. I PICKED UP THE CAR AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETE AND THE NEXT DAY I WAS AT A STOP TRYING TO MERGE ACROSS A 4 LANE ROAD. THE ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING AGAIN AND I COULDN'T GET ABOVE ABOUT 10 MPH. NO ONE HIT ME BUT IT COULD HAVE VERY EASILY BEEN A BAD ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE BACK TO TAMERON 4 MORE TIMES WITH THE SAME SCENARIO. TWICE I HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE AND LOST POWER TO ABOUT 10 MPH. AGAIN I MANAGED TO PULL TO THE SIDE WITHOUT GETTING HIT. JUST A LOT OF HORN BLOWING. THE DEALERSHIP REALLY DIDN'T HAVE AN EXPLANATION. THE LAST TIME I TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO ASSURED ME THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED AND IT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO MY "FUEL". THEY CONTINUED TO LET ME DRIVE THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH I WAS TELLING THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY GRANDSON IN THE CAR. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF LIKE A SWITCH HAD BEEN PULLED. I HIT MY HAZARD LIGHT BUTTON AND MANAGED TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK.THE EXPLANATION GIVEN WAS THE FUEL TANK INDICATOR HAD BROKEN AND I WAS OUT OF GAS. THEY REPLACED THE INDICATOR AND ALSO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP WHICH WAS RECALLED. THEY DIDN'T MENTION THE RECALL. I KNOW MY VEHICLE HAS 133,000 MILES BUT THIS DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT. I AM SUPPOSE TO HAVE A REBUILT ENGINE AND I AM JUST WAITING FOR THE NEXT INCIDENT. ADDITIONALLY, THE DEALER SUGGESTED HAVING A TUNE-UP PERFORMED, AS THERE WERE SEVERAL MISFIRE CODES GENERATED WHEN DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER CONTINUED TO DIAGNOSIS THE FAILURE AS THE CYLINDER ONE COIL HAVING MELTED INTO THE CYLINDER. AS A RESULT, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE COIL AND SPARK PLUG FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE SPARK PLUG BECOMING LOOSE AND FUEL LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDER HEAD CHAMBER. THE MANUFACTURE WAS ALERTED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO RESOLUTION. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED WITH THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.

NOT HAPPY AS I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE VAN. FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE REPLACED AT 34,000+ MILES. P/S RACK & PINION WAS FOUND LEAKING AT 34,094 MILES. LEFT PASSENGER DOOR FAILED AUTO OPEN. HONDA FIXED THAT AND NOW THAT WARRANTY IS OVER, IT'S STARTING TO HAPPEN AGAIN.

THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE WHEN DRIVING AT 50+ MPH AND MOST RECENTLY WHEN DRIVING 25MPH. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER A HONDA DEALER REPLACED THE TIMING BELT, T-BELT TENSIONER AND SERPENTINE BELT. I'M UNSURE IF THEY REPLACED THE BOLT IN QUESTION AT THAT TIME. HOWEVER, WITHIN 500 MILES OF DRIVING THE BOLT SHEARED OFF. THEN A DIFFERENT HONDA DEALER REPLACED THE BROKEN BOLT, TENSIONER ROLLER AND SERPENTINE BELT ALL OF WHICH WERE DAMAGED WHEN THE BOLT FAILED. ONCE AGAIN AFTER DRIVING LESS THAN 5000 MILES THE SAME BOLT HAS BROKEN. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS WELL AS BEING COSTLY. THE DEALER IS CLAIMING NO FAULT, YET THESE ARE PARTS THAT HONDA DEALERS ARE INSTALLING IN THEIR OWN SHOPS. THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF A/CS FAILING IN HONDA ODYSSEY MODELS OF YEAR 2007 AND PRIOR. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AS THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY PROTECTED FROM OUTSIDE DEBRIS HITTING IT. TO EMPHASIZE THAT THIS INDEED IS A DESIGN FLAW, THE 2008 ODYSSEY AND LATER MODEL NOW COME WITH A PROTECTIVE MESH COVERING THE CONDENSER, TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM. HONDA IS ACKNOWLEDGING THIS DEFECTIVE CONDITION OF THE DRAIN PLUG, AND IS REQUIRING THE CONSUMER TO BEAR THE BURDEN OF ITS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT BY REQUIRING THE RECURRING PURCHASE OF THESE REPLACEMENT DRAIN PLUGS EACH TIME THE OIL IS CHANGED. AGAIN, THIS LEAVES THE BURDEN OF THE DEFECTIVE PART ON THE CONSUMER, IN ADDITION TO ENABLING LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL TO LEAK ONTO THE ENVIRONMENT, AS WELL AS ENDANGERING THE LIFE OF ONE'S VEHICLE IF THESE DRAIN PLUGS ARE NOT REPLACED UPON EACH OIL CHANGE. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEAR THIS BURDEN. HONDA SHOULD MANUFACTURE A SAFE NON-DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. AFTER DRIVING MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY FOR 30 MINUTES, THE RIGHT REAR COMPARTMENT AND CUP HOLDER BY THE 3RD ROW SEATS HEAT UP. THE TEMPERATURE HEATS UP TO 122 DEGREES INSIDE THE COMPARTMENT, AND BOTTOM OF THE CUP HOLDER UP TO 110 DEGREES. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME AFTER DRIVING 30 MINUTES OR MORE, REGARDLESS WHETHER THE AIR CONDITIONER, AND HEATERS ARE ON OR OFF. THIS CAN EASILY BURN A PERSON'S SKIN, ESPECIALLY FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN. *TR
FRONT GRILLE OF HONDA ODYSSEY- AND MANY OTHER MODELS ALLOWS FOR ROAD DEBRIS TO DAMAGE CONDENSER COILS IN ENGINE. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO BEING A ROAD HAZARD- BUT SIMPLY LOOKING AT DESIGN WILL BE OBVIOUS THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW. SEVERE MISJUDGMENT HAS OCCURRED WITH THIS DESIGN- AND HONDA IS REFUSING TO COVER THIS UNDER ANY WARRANTY- DEALER AGREES, MECHANIC AGREES- WORST DESIGN EVER. *TR
I PARKED MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY IN MY DRIVEWAY AFTER RUNNING ERRANDS - DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES. I HEARD A HISSING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALER AND FOUND OUT THE NOISE WAS FREON ESCAPING FROM THE COMPRESSOR (AIR CONDITIONER). THEY 'THINK' A SMALL ROCK MAY HAVE PENETRATED THE CONDENSER ALTHOUGH NO ROCK WAS FOUND. THIS COST TO REPLACE THIS PART IS $725 AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN. THE AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT AND THE DEALER SAYS THAT A ROCK MUST HAVE HIT THE CONDENSER AND PUT A SMALL HOLE IN IT. BECAUSE IT WAS "DAMAGED" THE DEALER SAYS THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE DONE NOTHING TO CAUSE THE DAMAGE. THE REPAIR COST IS $900. FROM READING THE STORIES ON THE WEB, IT SOUNDS LIKE I AM NOT ALONE IN HAVING EASY DAMAGE TO HONDA ODYSSEY AIR CONDITIONERS WITH DEALERS CLAIMING THAT IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF SERVICE, I BEGAN TO NOTICE STEAM COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF DRIVING TO AN APPOINTMENT WHEN I NOTICED IT. THE NEXT DAY, MY VEHICLE NO LONGER HAD A/C. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT A SMALL PEBBLE HAD BROKEN ONE OF THE FINS ON THE AC CONDENSER. IT WOULD COST $850.00 TO FIX IT. THERE WAS NO UNUSUAL WEAR AND TEAR NOTHING THAT I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS. WHAT'S MORE, ONCE I REPLACE THIS, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT ANOTHER PEBBLE WON'T FLY INTO THE GRILLE AGAIN BASED ON IT'S LOCATION. THIS IS NOT COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER OR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER LOSES BIG HERE. WE'VE HAD TO DRIVE AND SAVE FOR 6 MONTHS TO GET THIS REPLACED. *TR

1. NORMAL DRIVING AROUND TOWN AND FREEWAY. 2. ENGINE PINGING, EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. LONG TERM EFFECT (ENGINE DAMAGE). 3. HONDA HAS TRIED TO FIX THIS ISSUE 5 TIMES WITH NO RESOLVE. 2007 ODYSSEY WITH 13,000 MILES, THE AC SUDDENLY QUIT WORKING. TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE CONDENSER WAS HIT BY THE ROAD DEBRIS AND CAUSED THE LEAKAGE. I WAS CHARGED $790 TO INSTALL A NEW CONDENSER. *TR
ON THE 3RD ROW SEAT THERE IS A GLOVE BOX ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE BOX GETS EXTREMELY HOT. WE FOUND OUT WHEN MY CHILD PUT IN HER CRAYONS AND ALL THE CRAYONS MELTED. THE REAR HEATING SYSTEM IS RIGHT UNDER THERE ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS HOT AND WHEN REMOVING THE BAG OF MELTED CRAYONS (WHICH I DID NOT REALIZE THEY WERE MELTED CRAYONS) I BURNED MY SELF. THIS OCCURS EVERY SINGLE TIME. ON LONGER DRIVES IT GETS EVEN HOTTER. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, AS THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER SAID THAT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. I THEN CALLED HONDA BUT THEY SAID IF THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING THEN THAT WAS THAT. THE SIDE WALL ALSO GETS QUITE WARM. 2006 ODYSSEY WITH 32K MILES. STARTING AT OR AROUND 28K NOTICED A CHIRPING OR RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE. SOUNDS LIKE VALVES RATTLING FROM GOING UP HILL W/LOW OCTANE GAS. TOOK TO DEALER AT 30K THEY COULD NOT HEARD NOISE. NOW NOISE OCCURS AT ALL TIMES FROM IDLE TO NO A/C ON TO A/C OFF TO APPLYING A SLIGHT AMOUNT OF GAS PEDAL. *TR
I OWN A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY (PURCHASED JULY 2006). LAST WEEKEND, I NOTICED BLUE FLUID (COOLANT) ON THE GRILL ACCOMPANIED BY A BURNT SMELL AND THE COOLANT FLUID WAS BELOW THE MINIMUM LEVEL. JUST TWO WEEKS PRIOR, THIS CAR WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERS FOR THE 1 YEAR MINOR TUNE-UP. THE DEALERS REPORTED THAT A ROCK HAS PUNCTURED THE RADIATOR, SO THAT IS WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS CASE IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS NOT FROM THE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I FIND IT UNFAIR THAT DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THE GRILL THAT I HAVE TO PAY A $500 DEDUCTIBLE TO GET THIS FIXED. *TR
AT 2,666 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, MY HONDA ODYSSEY EXL, PURCHASED ON 2/28/2007, SUFFERED CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. WHILE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS UNCLEAR ON THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, THEY FOUND THE FRONT CAM SHAFT FROZEN IN THE CYLINDER HEAD WITH THE SPECULATION THAT THERE WAS A CASTING HEAD PROBLEM WITH DEBRIS INSIDE THE VALVE ASSEMBLY. ALL FLUIDS WERE AT RECOMMENDED LEVELS. A PARTIAL LIST OF REPAIRS: - FRONT HEAD ASSEMBLY AND GASKET REPLACED - REAR HEAD GASKET REPLACED. - TIMING BELT AND TENSIONER REPLACED. - DRIVE BELT IDLER TENSIONER REPLACED. - COOLANT SYSTEM GASKET REPLACED. - FRONT ENGINE SEALS REPLACED. - OUTER HEAD ASSEMBLY REPLACED. HOW NO INJURY OR ACCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE MY CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION, IS JUST MY GOOD FORTUNE. MY BAD FORTUNE IS HAVING TO NAVIGATE A RUDE AND UNACCOUNTABLE CORPORATE "SERVICE" DEPARTMENT AND LIVE WITH THE LEGACY OF A MAJOR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *JB
