Burns oil due to bad piston rings. They are notorious for it and everyone that has a 8th generation Honda Accord (2008-2012) knows this is one of the biggest problems with the vehicle.
The bolt that secures the Serpentine Belt tensioner broke off at the engine block. This disables the power steering and the alternator. This is the third time this has happened. Fortunately for me it has happened when I could stop the car without wrecking it. Without power steering it is all most impossible to steer. I have learned that this is a problem with several Honda models. The tensioner is hydraulic and is secured with one bolt. Honda has issued service bulletins about the problem, but they still break. If mine had gone out at road speed or in traffic I may have been seriously hurt or killed. Some other Honda models come with a spring tensioner, and apparently work OK. I have found a lot of information about this problem on Honda forums. Arlington Car Care, in Upper Arlington, Ohio has been great to me in researching the problem and fixing mine 3 times at their expense. I feel Honda should recall cars with this tensioner and replace it with a spring tensioner that is safe. I wonder if the hydraulic unit is affected by cold weather, making the tension too strong and overpowering the single bolt. The shop has been able to get the broken bolt out of the block so far but it has been problem getting it out. Honda recommends bleeding the tensioner 3 times at installation and oiling the bolt and using a washer between the tensioner and the block. In my opinion tensioner was under designed and needs a fix.
I took my Honda in regarding a rattling noise coming from the engine while driving. It has become more noticeable in the cold and during acceleration. After taking it to the dealer I was told the engine is burning oil. Keep in mind my 2009 Honda Accord has 42k miles on it and is regularly maintained. I was told there is a large amount of carbon build up and it would require a number of this needing repair. Piston Rings, Actuator, Timing Chain, gaskets, seals and the list goes on. The alternative was bring the car in every 3k miles for oil changes because of this issue and monitor the oil consumption. Baffled by how this is possible with carbon build up and using premium fuel. Now I come home and search the internet and find out Honda has an issue with the 2.4 liter Engines in 2009 Honda accords. Apparently a service bulletin was issued but I was never made aware of this issue. Clearly this is a manufacture defect and there should have been a recall. The technician heard the issue and explained the engine would require this major repair or I would be forced to bring the car in for oil changes every 3k miles. The alternative was $6k in repairs total, $2k in parts to replace what they have identified as the issue. There was never any indication that the oil levels were low. And when the vehicle was brought in for oil changes they would note they would change the oil and top it off it was low but never checked why and what the underlying issue was for any lower oil levels. It's really disappointing when you follow all the maintenance protocols to find out they are hiding behind a bigger mechanical issue that can/will have escalating impact on the engine life of my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at 50 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering inadvertently and the oil warning light, the tire warning light, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road and she was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the engine had thrown two pistons and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. THE TWO ACCORDS ARE MODEL YEARS 2009 AND 2016. 2009 HONDA ACCORD LX-S 242K MILES 2016 HONDA ACCORD SPORT 47K MILES I HAVE NOTICED BOTH OF THESE CARS TO HAVE A ISSUE WITH OIL AT STARTUP. THE 2009 MAKES MORE NOISE THAN THE 2016. IT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE VCT ACTUATOR ON THE CAR. THIS IS JUST AN ISSUE AT STATIONARY STARTUP. WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION THERE IS NO ISSUES. I DID A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH TO SEE AND I PULLED PAGES AND PAGES OF INFO ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. IT EVEN SHOWS THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND THEY SENT OUT SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING THIS BUT AS TO WHY THE OWNERS ARE STILL HAVING TO PAY FOR THIS IS NOT RIGHT. MY CAR HAS A HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM, WHICH IS CAUSING RATTLING SOUND TO COME FROM THE ENGINE. I'M AFRAID THAT MY ENGINE MIGHT CATCH FILE BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION IS MORE AND CAUSING BURNING OF ENGINE OIL VERY FREQUENTLY. THIS IS CAUSING RATTLING NOISE WHEN ACCELARATING AND WOULD CAUSE MORE DAMAGE TO ENGINE AND CAN BE HAZARDOUS IF DRIVING ON HIGHWAY.
OCEAN HONDA IS WHERE I TAKE MY HONDA FOR SERVICE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON OVER A YEAR OR SO. I WAS TOLD MY CAR IS USING TOO MUCH OIL AND NEEDED PISTONS, RINGS AND VALVE REPAIR. THAT COST ALMOST $6000.00. FROM RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE GENERATION. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS TOLD BY OTHER MECHANICS THAT I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A NEW ENGINE, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN LESS EXPENSIVE. I FOUND INFORMATION THAT THE NHTSA ISSUED A NOTICE TO ADD YEARS TO THE WARRANTY WHICH WOULD COVER MY SITUATION. AS OF THE REPAIR I HAD OWNED THE CAR FOR 6 YEARS. I NEED THE INFORMATION ON TSB A12-087.
VTC ACTUATOR IS BAD AND REQUIRES REPLACING ALONG WITH PISTON RINGS, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. THE COST IS $2400.00. WHILE I KNOW THERE WILL BE THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO AGING VEHICLES, THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR A VERY LARGE NUMBER OF 2008-2013 HONDAS.

MY ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, EVEN THO I CHANGED MY OIL ON TIME EVERY TIME. THERE WAS A LAWSUIT IN 2013, BUT HONDA SAID I DIDN'T QUALIFY TO GET MY ENGINE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE IT WAS VIN # SPECIFIC AND STATE SPECIFIC. WHICH IS CRAP. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA. QUALITY HAS WENT WAY DOWN..

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO STICKING PISTON RINGS RESULTING IN HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT COMPLETELY HONOR THE RECALL DUE TO IT BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER BEGAN TESTING THE VEHICLE WITHOUT PROVIDING AN EXPIRATION DATE TO COMPLETE THE TESTS. BY THE TIME OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS WERE COMPLETED, THE WARRANTY RAN OUT. HONDA ACCORD 2009 - CURRENTLY 62K MILES. ENGINE RATTLES ON START UP AND ALSO ON ACCELERATION. CONTACTED HONDA DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE SPORADIC FLASHING OIL LIGHT AND RATTLING NOISE. DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED NO LEAKING OIL, BUT THERE WAS OIL CONSUMPTION. NOW INVOLVED WITH A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. DEALERSHIP COULDN'T REPLICATE THE RATTLING NOISE. WE NEVER RECEIVED THE NOTICE FROM HONDA ON THE SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT OIL CONSUMPTION. CURRENTLY 1K MILES INTO THE CONSUMPTION TEST AND WE ARE HALFWAY TO THE LOWER MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. UPDATED THE DEALERSHIP OF THE STATUS AND WAS TOLD NOT TO BRING IT BACK UNTIL IT WAS AT THE LOWER MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE THE RATTLING NOISE, WHICH NOW THE DEALERSHIP IS ADVISING US THAT IS A SEPARATE ISSUE. CURRENTLY STILL COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT A TEST HAS TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED. EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN AFFECT WITHOUT ANY TESTING, SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH IMMEDIATELY INSTEAD OF WAITING AROUND UNTIL SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR MORE DAMAGE IS DONE TO THE CAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED FOR EVERY CAR THAT WAS LISTED IN THAT BULLETIN.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING AND ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH
VTC ACTUATOR MAKING NOISE AND COLD STARTUP..STARTED AT ABOUT 60,000 MILES
I HAVE A 2009 HONDA ACCORD LX-P (4 CYLINDER, 2.4 L). IT CONSUMES EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL. I DID A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST ( HAD ALMOST 107K MILES ON THE CAR) AT A HONDA SERVICE CENTER. RESULT SAID THE CAR CONSUMED 1 QUARTER OF OIL FOR EVERY 1000 MILES (I NEVER SEE ANY WARNING LIGHT WHEN OIL GETS THIS LOW.) HONDA SERVICE CENTER, AFTER TAKING ABOUT A MONTH, SAID THE VEHICLE MEETS THE REQUIREMENT AND THEREFOR DON'T QUALIFY FOR REPAIR. SO LOOKS LIKE I WILL HAVE TO CHECK THE OIL LEVEL EVERY WEEK OR SO, AND ALSO REFILL OIL AT EVERY 1000 MILES INSTEAD OF STANDARD 3000 MILES.

WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 55 MPH ON ROUTE I-287 IN MORRISTOWN, NJ, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE BADLY AND THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD RUMBLING NOISE. I GOT THE CAR TO MY LOCAL SERVICE STATION IN MORRISTOWN, WHERE MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT ONE OF MY SPARK PLUGS HAD FAILED TO FUNCTION, HAVING BEEN BADLY OIL FOULED. HE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUG AND SAID THE COMPUTER SCANNER SHOWED CODE P0303 MISFIRE CYLINDER #3. HE ALSO NOTED THAT HONDA HAS A SERVICE CAMPAIGN FOR PISTON RING REPLACEMENT INITIATED IN 2013 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO HONDA ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 13. THEY REPLACED 3 OF THE 4 SPARK PLUGS IN QUESTION (1 HAVING ALREADY BEEN REPLACED) AND UPDATED THE CAR'S COMPUTER PROGRAM, CALLING THAT STEP ONE IN SOLVING THE PROBLEM. THE HONDA SERVICE MANAGER EXPLAINED THAT HONDA'S PROTOCOL FOR THIS IS TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE AND REPLACE SPARK PLUGS AND THEN WAIT TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. (I LATER CONFIRMED THIS PROTOCOL BY PHONE WITH HONDA AMERICA.) LACKING THAT, HONDA WILL NOT REIMBURSE THE DEALERSHIP IF THEY DO THE REPAIR, BUT THIS FIX SEEMS TO WORK ABOUT HALF THE TIME. WHEN THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN WAS INITIATED IN 2013, I WAS NOT NOTIFIED. CLEARLY, HONDA RECOGNIZED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM OF OIL LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDERS BUT DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL, AS I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD HAVE. IN MY CASE, MY ENGINE FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I WOULD LIKE TO HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT MY LOCAL MECHANIC SAYS IT DEFINITELY WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, BECAUSE HONDA DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. REPLACING SPARK PLUGS IS NO MORE THAN A BAND AID. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND GRINDING NOISE IN THE ENGINE
MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD WAS PURCHASED BY OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER OFF THE LOT BRAND NEW. VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS A GOOD VEHICLE AND NO SERIOUS PROBLEMS. IT WAS IN A MINOR CRASH AND HAD SOME OF THE FRAME READJUSTED. RECENTLY, (WITHIN 6 MONTHS) I HAVE NOTICED THE VEHICLE CONSUMING MORE OIL THAN USUAL. I FOLLOWED UP WITH HONDA TO SEE WHAT I COULD DO WITH THE EXTENDED WARRANTY NOTICE I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE VEHICLE. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY STATED THAT THE PISTON RINGS MAY BE STICKING MORE THAN USUAL AND THE VEHICLE COULD BE CONSUMING MORE OIL THAN NORMAL. THE WARRANTY STATED IT WAS GOOD FOR UP TO 8 YEARS FROM THE PURCHASE OR 125,000 MILES, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST. AT THE TIME THE HONDA WAS AT 134,000 MILES. HONDA TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND ASK HOW TO START THE PROCESS ON THE PISTON RINGS. THE LOCAL DEALER STATED THEY NEEDED TO START WITH AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WITH AN OIL CHANGE, THEN I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK AFTER 1,000 MILES FOR THEM TO TRACK THE OIL. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AND WAS DEALT WITH MORE BAD NEWS. THE LOCAL DEALER STATED THAT I COULD NOT START THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST UNTIL I FIXED TWO OTHER OIL LEAKS THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS. I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE HAS A VALVE GASKET LEAK WHICH ALSO NEEDED A VALVE ADJUSTMENT AS WELL AS A CRANK SEAL LEAK. THE LOCAL DEALER QUOTED ME THAT THE VALVE GASKET WOULD COST $225, THE VALVE ADJUSTMENT WOULD BE $325, AND THE CRANK SEAL LEAK WOULD BE $245. EVERYWHERE I HAVE HEARD OTHERWISE THE COST OF THESE FIXES WOULD BE MUCH MORE THAN I WAS QUOTED. AFTER RECEIVING THIS NEWS I CALLED HONDA AGAIN TO CREATE A CLAIM. I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SPEAK TO MY CASE REPRESENTATIVE ON THE PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE STICKING PISTON RINGS COULD HAVE LEAD TO THE TWO OTHER LEAKS MY VEHICLE IS HAVING. I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE FOR WORK ONE MORNING AND I NOTICED WHEN I CRANKED THE CAR UP THAT IT MADE A KNOCKING NOISE FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS AND QUIT. I DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH A FOUND THAT A LOT OF THE SAME CARS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE VTC ACTUATOR. IT ONLY DOES THIS WHEN IT IS COOL. IF IT HAS BEEN CRANKED UP IT WILL NOT DO IT.
IN APRIL OF 2016, I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. I HEARD THE FAN STILL RUNNING. I ALSO SMELLED ANTIFREEZE. FOLLOWING ADVICE FROM A MECHANIC, I CHECKED THE FLUIDS TO LEARN THAT THERE WAS NO ANTIFREEZE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO REPAIR SHOPS. BOTH PUT A PRESSURE TEST ON THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT IT WAS HOLDING PRESSURE. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP ON A FRIDAY WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. I TOLD THEM THAT I SMELLED ANTI-FREEZE BUT DID NOT SEE ANY LEAKING UNDER THE CAR. THEY ASKED ME TO BRING IT BACK THE NEXT WEEK SO THEY COULD HAVE MORE TIME TO ANALYZE THE COMPLAINT. THEY PROVIDED ME WITH A LONER CAR FOR THREE DAYS. WHEN THEY COMPLETED THE DIAGNOSTICS THEY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED AN ENGINE, I WAS DEVASTATED. WHEN I PURCHASED THE AUTO, IN HAD 22,000 MILES. AT THIS TIME IT HAD ABOUT 80,000. I PURCHASED THE AUTO OCTOBER 2011. MY THOUGHTS WERE, THIS IS UNHEARD OF. I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. IT HAS NEVER RUN HOT WITH ME. I HAVE RECORDS OF THE MAINTENANCE. EVERY OIL CONSUMPTION EVALUATION AT THE DESIGNED MARK IS BURNING THROUGH 1.2 QT OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. THEY CLAIM THAT IS STANDARD FOR THE CAR TO BURN THAT MUCH OIL. MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD HAS A GRINDING NOISE THAT OCCURS WHEN THE IGNITION IS ACTIVATED FROM A COLD START. THE NOISE LASTS FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO SECONDS AND SOUNDS LIKE THE TIMING BELT SYSTEM IS RATCHETING INTO PLACE. THIS ONLY OCCURS ON A COLD START, MEANING THE ENGINE HAS NOT BEEN RUNNING FOR 4 OR MORE HOURS. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR. AN INTERNET SEARCH LOCATED HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 09-010 DATED 08/17/10 AND THEN UPDATED ON 10/21/11. THE SAFETY BULLETIN DESCRIBES THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING CONTROL (VTC) ACTUATOR AS BEING, "DEFECTIVE". ADDITIONAL INTERNET SEARCH IDENTIFIED THAT THE GRINDING NOISE WAS COMMON WITH THE 2009 ACCORD. I SPOKE WITH MY DEALER, HUGH WHITE HONDA, COLUMBUS, OHIO. THE DEALERSHIP AGREED WITH MY DIAGNOSIS AND NOTED THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT HAD NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THE VTC ACTUATOR. FURTHER, THE DEALER NOTED THAT HONDA ISSUED A 2011 SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THE 2009 ACCORD TO ADDRESS COMPLAINTS OF EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. A SEPTEMBER 2011 NOTICE FROM HONDA IS TITLED "PRODUCT UPDATE: SOFTWARE UPDATE TO IMPROVE FUEL-INJECTOR AND VTC TIMING" THE NOTICE STATES THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR TIMING AND VTC TIMING AT COLD START MAY CREATE DEPOSITS ON THE OIL CONTROL RINGS THAT COULD CONTRIBUTE TO INCREASED OIL CONSUMPTION." THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THAT MY CAR HAD THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE DEALER ARGUES THAT THE UPDATE IS SEPARATE FROM THE CURRENT GRINDING NOISE AND THAT THE VTC ACTUATOR HAS FAILED. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY MY GRINDING NOISE APPEARS TO HAVE STARTED AFTER THE 2011 SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS COMPLETED. BASED ON THE FOREGOING, I AM FORWARDING THIS COMPLAINT. FLASHED ENGINE MANAGEMENT WITH UPGRADE SAID SERVICE BULLETIN FROM HONDA SHOULD FIX ISSUE. KEPT CHECKING OIL LEVELS AT EACH GAS FILL UP. NOTICED A QUART OF OIL USED AROUND EVERY THOUSAND MILES OF MIXED DRIVING. BY 50,000 THAT HAD DROPPED TO USING A QUART OF OIL EVERY 600 MILES AND BY 56,000 MILES A QUART OF OIL EVERY 500 MILES. ENGINE RAN ROUGH ALL THE TIME AND BLEW SMOKE. NO VISIBLE ENGINE LEAKS FROM DYE TEST. ENGINE OIL WOULD TURN BLACK WITHIN 1000 MILES AFTER AN OIL CHANGE AT DEALER. DEALER INSTIGATED OIL CONSUMPTION TEST EVERY 1000 MILES. USED 2.5 QUARTS OF OIL. AT 58,000 MILES DEALER RECEIVED PERMISSION TO REPLACE MOTOR WITH NEW SHORT BLOCK FROM HONDA AND REMANUFACTURE HEADS WITH ALL NEW PARTS. THIS WAS AFTER DEALER TORE DOWN THE MOTOR AND CONFIRMED IT WAS SHOT. SCORED BORE AND DESTROYED RINGS, AND BLACK OIL SLUDGE IN MOTOR. ENGINE OIL HAD BEEN REPLACED AT DEALER WITHIN HONDA RECOMMENDED INTERVALS. NEVER HEARD OF A HONDA MOTOR FAILING AT 58,000 MILES IN MY LIFE. NEW MOTOR RUNS GREAT AND CAR IS LIKE NEW AGAIN. I'M GLAD THE ENGINE FAILED WITHIN THE 60,000 DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE IF HONDA DID NOT COME THROUGH WITH A NEW ENGINE. READING ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS AN ALL TO COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2008, 2009 4CYL ENGINES. HAVE MONITORED THE OIL CONSUMPTION AFTER DEALER OVERFILLED, WITH PICTURES OF OVERFILL, WITH MILAGE AND VARIOUS PICTURES OF THE DIP STICK. THIS ENGINE HAS AN ECO SYSTEM. IT IS SUSPECTED THAT THE DEALER AND HONDA MANUFACTURE HAS NOT FOUND A SOLUTION. BOTH PARTIES ARE IN COMMUNICATION WITH ONE ANOTHER WITH NO RESULTS THUS FAR. THE DEALER HAS NOW HAD THE VEHICLE FOR TWO WORKING WEEKS AS OF 10-22-2010 WITH NO EXPLANATION TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE DEALER HAS REPLICATED THE A/C BLOWING HOT AIR NUMEROUS TIMES. OVERALL, SINCE MAY 2010, THE DEALER HAS HAD POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE FOR APPROX. 30 DAYS DURING THE SIX DEALER VISITS AND REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 34,000.

I HAVE A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE A/C NOT COOLING, SO I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ASSESSMENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT A LINE WAS NOT WORKING AND I HAD A FREON LEAK. THEY PLACED DYE IN THE FLUID TO DETERMINE WHERE THE LEAK ORIGINATED. THEY DETERMINED IT WAS COMING FROM THE CONDENSER. THIS PART IS LOCATED IN THE GRILL OF THE CAR AND ISN'T PROTECTED IN ANY WAY AND THEY DECIDED IT HAD BEEN DAMAGED, WITHOUT PROOF, FROM SOMETHING I HAD HIT, SUCH AS A ROCK. THEY THEN INFORM ME THAT MY FULL WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER IT, AND INFORMED ME IT WOULD COST $432.00 TO REPAIR. THEY ALSO CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL NOT OCCUR AGAIN AND AGAIN. THE FREON CONTINUES TO LEAK AND WILL NOT COOL THE CAR. IT ALSO CAUSES A FOUL SMELL TO COME INTO THE CAR. I DO NOT BELIEVE CONSUMERS SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING TO REPLACE A PART THAT IS PUT IN A PLACE THAT IS VULNERABLE TO DEBRIS OR ANYTHING, WITHOUT PROTECTING IT IN SOME WAY. *TR
I OWN A 2009 HONDA ACCORD EX-L. I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE NOT ACCELERATING WHEN NEEDED TO IN EMERGENCY. I HAVE COME CLOSE TO ACCIDENTS TWICE SO FAR ON THE HIGHWAY SINCE THE CAR WOULD NOT GIVE ME PICK UP WHEN I NEEDED TO STEER CLEAR OF TRUCKS AND CARS. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO TWO DEALERS, ONE IN NEW JERSEY AND THE OTHER IN MASS. BOTH DEALERS TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS FINE WHEN IT ISN'T. AT FULL THROTTLE GOING FROM 1000RPM UPTO 6000RPM THERE IS NO PICK UP WHAT SO EVER. IT IS THE SAME AS GOING NORMAL SPEED AND PICK UP. THIS IS A FAMILY CAR AND I DRIVE WITH MY TWO KIDS IN THERE LESS THEN 5 YRS OF AGE. I'VE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND IT WAS MY MISTAKE THAT I DID NOT TEST DRIVE IT PRIOR TO PURCHASE. I'VE OWNED SEVERAL HONDA ACCORDS SINCE 96 AND NONE OF THEM HAVE HAD THIS SERIOUS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. I AM STUCK WITH AN EXPENSIVE LEMON. *TR

I HAD JUST BOUGHT A 2010 HONDA ACCORD WHICH I HAD PURCHASE IN OCTOBER 20 09, 3 WEEKS OLD APPROXIMATELY. I GET IN MY VEHICLE TO TURN THE AIR CONDITION ON NOVEMBER 1 AND FOUND OUT THAT IT ONLY BLEW OUT HOT AIR. I TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER, THEY STATED A PEBBLE OR FOREIGN OBJECT GOT UP TO THE CONDENSER AND PUNCTURED IT WHICH MADE IT UNABLE TO FUNCTION. THE COST OF REPAIR IS ABOUT 600 DOLLARS. FOR HONDA TO BE NUMBER ONE FOR GOOD VALUE WITH THERE CARS IT IS NOT APPARENT NOW. I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IT IS NOT COVERED DUE TO ROAD DEBRIS NOT MANUFACTURE MALFUNCTION. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO CONSISTENT WITH A LOT OF THEIR VEHICLES NOT ONLY DO I HAVE MAKE MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR NOW I AM PAYING FOR IT TO BE REPAIR WHEN IT IS NOT EVEN A MONTH OLD. *TR
