OBD trouble code P0302 — cylinder 2 misfire caused by coolant seeping in from a deformation in the block.

Engine overheating due to coolant loss into cylinder through internal leak. Engine and vehicle are available for inspection. Engine overheating due to coolant loss into cylinders can be a risk for vehicle fire.

The engine has coolant intrusion and misfiring that can lead to an engine fire. My family was put in jeopardy as coolant disappears during driving. The dealership has confirmed a coolant intrusion issue as indicated in the CSP 21N12.

The check engine light was intermittently on and off for several days in late June. We went to AutoZone to read code, which said Misfire Cylinder 3. So we bought spark plugs and asked our mechanic friend to replace all four of them before our road trip as the mechanic suggested.

Coolant leaking into engine. Not dead yet but not drivable since it will cause more damage to the engine. Luckily caught it before engine went out on the highway, overheating occurred, or fire occurred.

I purchased a 2018 Ford Escape from CarMax, I’ve had the car for 6 months I drove it to Illinois and my car was in park but stating it was in neutral upon a diagnostic it was discover my shifting cable was not working and I needed to keep my car parked and keep The emergency break on at all times.

Car has 95k miles. Recently started showing code P0303 (cylinder 3 misfire). Took it to mechanic, replaced spark plug and engine coil.

What happened was I was Driving down the street at thirty miles per hour and the speed limit changed to thirty five miles per hour so I put my foot on the gas and nothing happened. The engine did not rev and the speed did not go up the speed kept going down.

In April 2022 my 2018 Ford Escape started to malfunction. When in drive it would move backwards, which nearly caused an accident for me as there was a vehicle behind me when this occurred. It also would move forward when in park, and was a huge safety hazard.

On June 28, 2022 I pulled into a parking space, placed car in park & released brake, car abruptly flew into wall damaging hood & head light as well as engine. I have sore back & chest. Very disturbing, never involved in anything like this, never had accident in 41 years of driving.

Our Ford Escape had a coolant leak causing misfires. After searching online, we see that this is a known problem that Ford hasn't addressed. The repair costs are high and it isn't right that Ford hasn't issued a recall.

I was stopped for an accident on I70 E in St Louis County. While stopped a 2015 Mazda hit me in the rear. He hit me so hard that the the seat broke and I went all the way back to the back seat.

On december 26, 2019, another other vehicle hit this 2018 ford escape, spinning it into another vehicle. This escape caught on fire and was totally destroyed. All involved vehicles (all fords) were in motion traveling about 50 MPH.

Brake and accelerator did not work after a sudden stop on the signal light (on a slop, entrance of a highway). After the stop , my car started rollling backward, neither brake or accelerator could stop the backward rolling. I have to use the emergency brake to stop the car to avoid crash with the car behind me.

I believe my wife and I experienced what is know as park to reverse.

Blown head gasket, it is available for inspection. The engine overheating could’ve left me and my family stranded. The problem has not been confirmed by anyone.

I purchased a 2018 Ford Escape from Metropolitan Ford dealership in Eden Prairie, MN on 5/15/2025. The very next day the engine light came on. I called them, made an appointment and brought it in thinking that it was a sensor.

Early May 2025 the check engine light came on. Had towed to my mechanic 95 miles away (I live remotely), they changed the spark plugs. Within one week the check engine light came on a, took to a local garage (inside the national park where my residence is) and they chaned the spark plugs again.

A Design Flaw (as confirmed by a Ford Service Advisor) in the engine block allows coolant to seep into the engine, rendering the engine useless.

I leased my first new car on january 29, 2018. Starting in april of 2019 my vehicle has failed to start on numerous occasions. I took it to the dealership where I bought iat and they cannot replicate the issue.

After having intermittent problems with the remote start not working, I attempted to start the vehicle from the ford pass app while my car was parked in an uncovered lot, which did not start. I started remotely from the key fob and loaded my infants car seat into the car, put my bag in the car, and shut the door. After closing the door, I heard the locks click, and the engine shut off.

So this morning as soon as I started my 2018 Ford escape up and instantly temp gauge went to hot and threw up a sign stating high temp. Safely stop . I turned it off .

My vehicle received a short block repair under CSP 21N12 in 2023 at my ford dealership.

I have a 2018 Ford Escape that I purchased 2 years ago. Three days ago, it would not start and when we got it to start white smoke came out and there was no coolant left in the chamber. There is no fluid under the car and the car warning light came on saying PowerTrain malfunction, reduced power.

When the transmission gets warm, the car stops driving. It goes into all the gears fine. The vehicle has 102 thousand miles and I’m told the transmission needs to be replaced already.

I am writing to implore the NHTSA to finally take an interest in the ongoing issues with the engines in the 2018-2020 ford escapes. you have over 1600 documented statements from concerned owners who ford has no intention of aiding. Its ironic that all are experiencing the same issues and receiving almost the same answers from the dealerships, Ford and your agency.

My engine light came on and within a three day time span my engine overheated. I kept up with all maintenance on my vehicle and even had a previous diagnostic ran on the vehicle a month prior. I was told there was a customer satisfactory warranty that expired in November 2022 on my vehicle but information was given to first owner that stated what would happen to my vehicle.

I just recently came across the 21N12 letter that was sent out to people awhile back after googling an issue I noticed with my car. It appears my car is losing coolant. Which, after reading the 21N12, it appears is a known issue that ford submitted a letter letting people get this repair done for no charge.

I have a 2018 ford escape only like 100,000 has engine gone due to coolant leak. In research I saw ford has ignored this issue from day one to its customers. I have 2018 ford Escape 1.5 EcoBoost.

The engine light came on in my 2018 ford Explorer. I took it to the mechanic and was told my engine is failing and the coolant is leaking into the engine. He told me this is a common issue with this car and has happened to other people.

The engine has a coolant leak and has made my car not properly functional. Have taken it in multiple time for repairs same issue would happen now they won't fix it because of a specific code is not reading but exactly what's going on they won't fix because it's over the milage coverage confidently.

known problem with ford eco boost engines. Coolant loss, engine overheating, loss of power and died. now $11000 to replace the engine.

The roof seals failed, water poured into the rear of the car in cargo space, and filled spare tire wheel well without warning. We had noticed a sour, moldy smell prior to that, and began to show allergy symptoms, necessitating medication. Dealer was made aware.They tested roof and resealed it.

Coolant appears to be leaking into the engine block.

Every morning after starting, a thick cloud of white smoke emits from the exhausts. It clears up after a minute or so but it happens in both hot and cold weather. Took the car to the mechanic and it was determined there is a head gasket leak.

CEL came on and showed code P0302. I replaced the coil pack and spark plug, problem was fixed for a week and then the code came back on. Did research and realized when the car is on the coolant totally depletes and returns after the car is off, the coolant should not deplete like it did.

Lug nuts swollen - couldn’t remove at regular tire store. Had to buy all new lug nuts at dealer.

Door would not unlock when hand is placed on door handle with key fob nearby. Had to use keypad on door. Happens intermittently Also horn beeps by itself Driver seat memory wasn’t automatically activated All intermittently

UNKNOWN The vehicle is only three years old is kept up with on a regular basis with the maintenance and is now having issues with a leaking evap system which has been an ongoing issue with a lot of Ford vehicles. I was notified by a mechanic that inspected my vehicle that the vehicle is not safe to drive and is like a ticking time bomb.

Black mold on my cabin air filter. There appears to be a design defect with my 2018 escape (4 cyl) that does not allow the AC condenser to properly drain. This causes the cabin air filter to become water logged, which leads to the growth of black mold, which leads to the black mold being released into the cabin.

At 26,000 miles had a full engine repair due coolant issue. Ford had my car for 3 months. Less than a few days after getting it back had a front crank seal leak due a defective part.

One day after work, the AC suddenly stopped working. Upon returning home, we noticed a burning rubber smell. We took the vehicle to the dealership, from which we had purchased the vehicle from 4 months prior.

Most of the time that I start the vehicle it makes a squealing sound, it only lasts as long as I am in park or if I am in reverse. Once I put the vehicle into drive the sound stops. I have taken the vehicle into the dealership on more than one occasion and I have even recorded the sound but I have been told that there is no noise.

I believe coolant got into the cylinders and caused an engine failure. I had to replace the engine on the vehicle at 58000 miles

My car was fine earlier today, but when I drove home and parked, I turned my vehicle off and the fan continued to run. I took my car to Autozone and they ran a diagnostic test with the OEM and no codes came up. They said it’s possibly the motor fan module or some sort of sensor or relay.

We were at a stop on a over crossing, and all of a sudden, the car engine started racing loudly and , even with foot on the brake, hard, it surged forward twice and hit the vehicle in front of us and caused that vehicle to hit the vehicle in front of him.My husband tried to shift gear to park or neutral, but shift was stuck. My husband then turned off the car.

I bought this car a month ago and now the transmission is not working I got a warning from my car saying “transmission fault service now” and now I’m trying to see how to fix that, if you guys can help me that would be great

APIM is not fuctional. Rear camera does not work, display does not work, stereo does not work. Resetting the system does not work.

Drivers side headlight burned out and had to replace. 3 months later passenger side headlight burned out. While at the shop to replace the passenger side, the drivers side burned out again.

Within 30,000 miles, my spark plugs failed and had me on the side of the road. By 60k miles, I needed a whole new engine. After the engine was put in, my purge valve went out.

It wouldn’t go into second gear and would stop and not go so I turned the auto bio fuel feature off and it started to act better. Then it gave me a transmission default alert. I parked turned off the car and turned it back on and nursed it home

The back window on the hatch is shattering. The window first had done size crack in it. It then was crackling and after hours the whole window is small pieces.

Interior door handle fell apart.

Getting terrible gas mileage only about 17 miles to the gallon, had 60 miles on car when leased and they told me to wait till I had a 1000 miles now have 2000 miles and still getting lousy mileage. Also, stop/start does not seem to be working. Also kick plate on back doesn't work well.
