Your 2018 Ford Escape's 1.5L EcoBoost engine experienced coolant leaking into the cylinders, causing an "Engine Fault Service Now" warning. A Ford dealership confirmed coolant intrusion into one cylinder using a borescope inspection and found a leaking water pump and low coolant level. The repair will require either replacing the short block or long block of the engine, which are major engine overhaul jobs.

Your 2018 Ford Escape's 1.5L EcoBoost engine is experiencing coolant leaking into the cylinders, causing misfires, rough running, white smoke from the exhaust, and unexplained coolant loss without visible leaks. You've also experienced sudden loss of power while driving, which is a serious safety concern when transporting your child. This appears to be a known defect affecting multiple vehicles with this engine type, and fixing it will likely require engine repair or replacement to address the coolant intrusion into the cylinders.

To whom it may concern, I am writing to express my deep frustration regarding a serious issue with my Ford vehicle. My vehicle recently displayed code P0302 – Misfire Cylinder 2, which has been diagnosed as coolant intrusion into the cylinder. The recommended repair is a replacement long block, along with new hardware and seals.

I’ve seen others report on the same issues and hopefully this brings something up for a recall. At first it was a misfire in the engine, and oil getting into the spark plugs. Then coolant leaking.

NHTSA #: 11689063

It started out as a misfire which can be caused by multiple issues, after changing spark plugs and coils, noted low coolant (no visible leaks), white smoke, running rough. Ford dealer diagnosis as coolant intrusion and states a complete long block needs replacement. The cost of this is more than the market value.
