TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE LIFTGATE GLASS FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR BOLTS AND HINGES FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION , THE FAILURE WORSENED WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS OF ANOTHER VEHICLE ENCOUNTERED THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE LAMINATE WAS COMING LOOSE FROM THE WINDSHIELD AND THAT THE WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
THE REAR GLASS HATCH HINGES HAVE COMPLETELY DISINTEGRATED AND MY REAR WINDOW IS READY TO FALL OFF. FORD HAS BASICALLY TOLD ME TO SUCK IT UP AND PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THIS HAS BEEN A CLEAR ISSUE ON FORD SUVS DATING BACK TO AT LEAST 2002. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. I AM BEING FORCED TO PAY $260 FOR PARTS AND THEN WHATEVER LABOR MIGHT BE WHEN MY WINDOW IS READY TO COME CRASHING OUT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THE HINGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

MY FORD ESCAPE IS A 2009, 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE CHECKS. ON JULY 12TH, I OPENED AND CLOSED THE DRIVER DOOR AND THE WINDOW SLID DOWN. ONCE TAKEN TO GET DIAGNOSED, I WAS TOLD THE REGULAR CABLE HAD GONE OUT. I HAD IT FIXED AND WAS ON MY WAY. ON JULY 16TH, JUST 4 DAYS AFTER, I WAS PICKING UP DRY CLEANING, I PUT CLOTHES IN THE BACK SEAT, AND ONCE THE DOOR WAS CLOSED, SAME THING HAPPENED, WINDOW SLOWLY SLID DOWN. NO OPENING/CLOSING WINDOWS TO PROVOKE IT. I WAS TOLD ONCE AGAIN IT WAS THE REGULATOR CABLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BOTH PROBLEMS EXACTLY THE SAME, WITHIN 4 DAYS OF EACH OTHER. ALL MECHANICS AND SERVICE REPS TOLD ME IT WAS VERY UNUSUAL THAT THE REGULATOR GO OUT ON SUCH A NEW CAR. CALLED FORD CORPORATE AND WAS UNABLE TO GET ASSISTANCE TO PAY FOR THIS DEFECT. HOW CAN A 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH NO EXTREME USE OF THE POWER WINDOWS BE CAPABLE OF SUCH PROBLEMS? THE CAR IS DEFECTIVE AND FORD SHOULD'VE PAID FOR THE REPAIR. *TR

WHILE THE UNOCCUPIED VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE MOONROOF COLLAPSED AND FRACTURED INTO MULTIPLE PIECES AS A RESULT OF AN EXTREMELY SMALL AMOUNT OF SNOW ON THE TOP SURFACE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE MOON-ROOF WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000. VISIBLE PARTICULATE MATTER OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN COMING FROM INTERIOR HEATING/COOLING DUCTS OF 2009 FORD ESCAPE. DEALER KEPT CAR FOR 2 DAYS TO "BLOW OUT" THE SYSTEM AND ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM BUT IT STILL PERSISTS, CAUSING ME TO COUGH AND SNEEZE. DEALER STATES THE WHITE RESIDUE IS NOT HARMFUL BUT I DO NOT AGREE AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SAMPLES TESTED FOR TOXICITY AND HARMFUL EFFECTS FROM CONTINUOUS INHALATION. *TR
