The backup camera has stopped working. Sometimes it appears fuzzy when the car is put into reverse, other times the screen is black and says I need to contact my local dealership. The screen can also stay that way after I place the vehicle back into drive for several minutes before it goes back to the accessory screen. This issue started out as just sometimes a problem and sometimes the camera would work fine. It is at the point now that it never works anymore. I also have had issues with the rear cross traffic sensors "detecting" things when the car is in reverse that aren't there. It can be very dangerous because you think something is behind the car that is not there and can cause the driver to slam on the brakes. This issue does not happen on a regular basis, just sometimes. The vehicle is available for inspection for all problems. None of the problems have been inspected by anyone professionally yet. A Dealership has not confirmed the issues either.

When I purchased my 2014 Ford Edge SEL from North Central Ford, I informed the dealership that the backup camera consistently displayed the error message: “Camera is unavailable, please contact your dealership.” This occurred every time the vehicle was placed in reverse. Additionally, the SYNC display would become unresponsive, disabling access to the phone, climate control, radio, and other settings. The dealership refused to fix the issue and instead offered to replace the entire SYNC system with an upgrade costing around $800. This issue has persisted since purchase in January 2018. The Ford Edge has significant blind spots, and the backup camera is essential for safe reversing. I recently discovered that Ford issued a recall for similar issues, but my model is not included—even though it clearly suffers from the same defect. I request that the 2014 Ford Edge SEL be included in the recall to address this safety-critical issue.

Back up camera randomly goes to a blank/black screen. Other times it randomly flips upside down. Many times the picture is grainy and wavy. Completely unreliable. I was told that the cameras just go bad randomly and that it’s my problem. However, it has to be the wiring since occasionally the picture is sharp and occasionally it is right side up. The constant unreliability is a safety hazard.

The back up camera image flipped upside down about five years ago. it will occasionally flip right side up for short while, but then flips back. I recently found online that I'm not alone, and that this seems to be a common problem among Ford Edge owners. Also, I see where there was a recall of 2020 and 2021 Ford Edges with similar back up camera issues. It seems that the problem existed prior to those years already. Is there any chance that the this problem be acknowledged by Ford to me, an earlier and current owner ?

While driving 50-55 MPH the car shuts down. Able to glide, stir/turn the car over to shoulder and put in park. Flashes SEE MANUAL and a wrench shows. Restart the car and drive. Has done this several times, laps from 2 weeks to 2 months, for last 7 months. Two service stations checked and said they can't find anything. Took car to Ford dealership and also say can't find anything wrong. I am 75yrs women and this is dangerous to be on the road!

This recall should be expanded to include other years including 2014 edge as these vehicles are having the same issue. This happens every day and as soon as you put the vehicle into reverse.

The back up camera video is upside down. It is like this 95% of the time, occasionally it will be in the correct position. Sometimes the screen is all black, but mostly is is upside down making it very difficult to use when parking!

When the vehicle reaches up to 80,000 miles or so, you may hear a clicking or clunking in the rear when turning or ascending. Nowhere listed in the driver's manual is a power transfer unit mentioned. Obviously, the fluid in this part has to be changed every 30,000 miles. Resulting in a very expensive repair if not done so. I am being quoted 2500.00 for the part and installation by a ford dealer. The power transfer unit blew up, has black oil and metal fragments in it.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and approaching a stop sign, she had to depress the brake pedal to the floor to stop the vehicle. The contact also stated she heard an abnormal noise. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake booster to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but on 11/8/2021, she began to experience the failure again. The contact took the vehicle back to local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake master cylinder to be replaced. The master cylinder was replaced 11/22/2021 but failed to fix the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending the repair. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,800 as of 2/14/2022. The contact stated that the hydraulic control unit was not replaced and the vehicle was taken to another mechanic. The right rear caliper piston was repaired. The failure has not reoccurred.

WE ARE EXPERIENCING HIGH LEVELS OF EXHAUST GASES INSIDE THE PASSENGER CABIN OF A 2014 FORD EDGE. THE EXHAUST FUMES ARE NOTICEABLE WHEN IDLING FOR EXTENDED PERIODS AND ARE MOST PRONOUNCED WHEN ACCELERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. EXHAUST GASES CAN REACH HIGH LEVELS SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT WINDOWS MUST BE ROLLED DOWN TO FLUSH THE PASSENGER CABIN. THIS CONDITION HAS BEEN REPORTED TO A FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHICH INDICATED THAT A METHOD OF REPAIR EXISTS BUT NO MANUFACTURER RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED TO DATE. THE CONDITION IS SIMILAR TO THAT IN THE FORD EXPLORER THAT RESULTED IN REPAIRS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLES.

LUCKILY SHE WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING HIT FROM THE REAR. IN THE DASH, THE "WRENCH" ICON DISPLAYED WITH A MESSAGE ALERTING HER TO SEE MANUAL. IT HAS BEEN 3YRS TO THE DATE SINCE WE'VE PURCHASED THE CAR AND NOTHING LIKE THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE THAT WAS HAPPENING TO OTHER FORD EDGE'S IN 2013. AS FORD IS ABOUT SAFETY, I'M PERSONALLY OUTRAGED THAT THIS ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING WITH NO RESOLVE. WHAT IF SHE HAD GOTTEN HURT; WHAT IF SHE HAD HURT SOMEONE ELSE DUE TO THIS ISSUE.

BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN SLOW DOWN, WE WERE ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO GET TO THE RIGHT. THE SPEED DROPPED SUDDENLY. LIMPED IT ALONG TO WHAT WE "THOUGHT WAS A SAFE EXIT" AND CALLED STATE POLICE. WHILE WAITING I KEPT THE CAR ON WITH HAZARD LIGHTS. THEN TWO VEHICLES APPEARED TRIED TO BLOCK US IN AND WE BELIEVE ROB US. I WAS ABLE TO HIT THE GAS AND GET 1/4 MILE BEFORE IT DID IT AGAIN. WOULD NOT MOVE, CHUGGED AND CUT OFF. THE SUSPICIOUS PEOPLE TOOK OFF BUT IT WAS TERRIFYING TO BE SO VULNERABLE AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET AWAY. IT WAS TOWED BY STATE POLICE TO CLOSEST DEALER OF THE AUTO GROUP WE PURCHASED FROM AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE. AFTER READING ONLINE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY, MANY PEOPLE AND HOW DANGEROUS IT IS, I WANTED TO REPORT IT. THIS ISSUE IS GOING TO KILL PEOPLE. IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. THE FORUMS ARE LOADED WITH PEOPLE THAT FACED THIS SUDDEN DANGEROUS SITUATION.

THROTTLE BODY!!! I WAS DRIVING DOWN A VERY BUSY BACK ROAD WITH A NUMBER OF SHARP TURNS THROUGHOUT WHEN A YELLOW WRENCH APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD AND THE CAR WENT INTO A FULL AND IMMEDIATE "LIMP MODE." MY CAR INITIATED LIMP MODE ON A VERY SHARP TURN WITH AN INCLINING HILL AND I HAD NOWHERE TO PULL OFF TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO RESTART MY CAR AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES TO WORK AND MY CAR WOULD AGAIN GO INTO "LIMP MODE" 4 ADDITIONAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THIS TRIP. AS A RESULT, OWNERS MAY SPEND A GREAT DEAL OF TIME CHECKING AND RE-CHECKING TO ENSURE THAT THE EDGE'S DOORS ARE REALLY, TRULY LATCHED. EXHAUST ODORS ENTER VEHICLE CABIN AFTER HEAVIER ACCELERATION. IT IS MORE PREVALENT WHEN AIR CONDITIONING IT TURNED ON. THIS ODOR CAN VARY IN INTENSITY FROM MILD TO SO OVERWHELMING THAT YOU COUGH, GAG, EYES WATER AND SINUSES WILL DRAIN. IT IRRITATES MY THROAT. I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE A LOT EACH DAY AND WHILE AT FIRST I THOUGHT THE SMELL WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE FROM OTHER VEHICLES EXHAUST IN FRONT OF ME, I HAVE FINALLY REALIZED IT IS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE I AM DRIVING. SMELL INTENSITY SEEMS RELATED TO HOW HARD THE ACCELERATION WAS. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY ON AN ACCELERATION RAMP DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE SITUATION COULD REQUIRE HEAVY ACCELERATION TO GET UP TO SPEED. THE CAR GETS A VERY HEAVY ODOR OF EXHAUST INSIDE THE CABIN IN THIS SITUATION WITH AIR CONDITIONING ON. WHEN THIS INTENSITY HAPPENS YOU MUST ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS TO CLEAR THE SMELL FROM THE INTERIOR. THE SMELL IS LESS INTENSE DURING EASIER ACCELERATIONS. I NOTICE MYSELF FEELING DROWSY SOMETIMES DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS, WITH AIR CONDITIONING ON, AFTER I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR MAYBE AN HOUR OR SO. ROLLING THE WINDOWS DOWN SEEMS TO MAKE THE SENSATION GO AWAY AS DOES GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED CARBON MONOXIDE IS PRESENT WITH THE ODOR THAT ENTERS THE VEHICLE INTERIOR. I DO NOT NOTICE THE SMELL MUCH DURING THE COOLER MONTHS WHEN AIR CONDITIONING IS NOT USED. THE INTENSITY OF THE ODOR, UNDER HEAVIER ACCELERATION, IS VIRTUALLY BREATHTAKING. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO BREATH INSIDE THE INTERIOR DURING THIS KIND OF INTENSITY. WE PURCHASED THIS USED VEHICLE USED IN EARLY 2016 WITH 10,000 MILES ON IT AND DRIVE IT DAILY. IT HAS OVER 30,000 MILES NOW. I HAVE READ AND RESEARCHED MANY COMMENTS AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE AND FORD EXPLORERS WITH THE SAME DESCRIBED ISSUE. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESEARCH A FIX.

I PARKED MY CAR ON MY DRIVEWAY AND TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I STEP OUT OF THE CAR AND WAS PLAYING WITH MY DAUGHTER BY THE SIDE OF THE CAR. MY CAR STARTED ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. I OPENED THE DOOR AND SAW THE CAR CAME OUT OF GEAR. I REACHED IN AND SHIFTED BACK TO PARK. CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL DOWN DRIVEWAY. I TRIED STOPPING IT BY TRYING TO JUMP IN BUT CAR CONTINUE TO ROLL ALMOST PINNING ME. I JUMPED OUT AND CAR HIT MY NEIGHBORS CAR. THE WHOLE TIME THIS WAS HAPPENING I HAD THE KEY IN MY HAND. MY CAR HAS BEEN AT FORD SERVICE FOR THE PAST 7 DAYS WAITING FOR PARTS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT'S BEEN IN FOR SERVICE IN THE PAST MONTH. I INITIALLY REPORTED EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN COMING FROM THE AIR VENTS. THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SHIFTER WHICH THEY REPLACED BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DETECT THE SMELL OR A CAUSE FOR ANY SMELL. I TOOK THE CAR BACK LAST WEEK WHEN THE EXHAUST/ROTTEN EGG ODOR CONTINUED AND THE CAR WAS MAKING A LOW DRONE NOISE AND FALTERING ON ACCELERATION. I WAS JUST TOLD THIS MONDAY (TWO DAYS AGO) THAT THE EXHAUST SMELL IS PART OF THE PROBLEM BEING REPORTED ON THE NEWS. I WAS NOT AWARE OF WHAT WAS ON THE NEWS AT ALL. MY CAR IS A 2014 EDGE.

MY WIFE AND I STOPPED FOR LUNCH, AND PARKED ON A CITY STREET. (85 I REMEMBER LOOKING AT MY PHONE WHEN I STOPPED AND SHUT OFF THE CAR USING THE PUSH BUTTON ON THE DASH. WE WALKED TO THE FOOD STAND AND SOMEONE TAPPED ME ON THE SHOULDER TO INFORM ME THAT MY CAR ROLLED DOWN THE STREET. I ATTACHED A PICTURE BELOW. I CRAWLED TO THE DRIVER SIDE THROUGH THE PASSENGER DOOR. THE CAR CAME TO A STOP BY HITTING A SMALL TREE, AND JUST MISSED A LARGE TREE. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE CAR ROLLED SLOW ENOUGH THE CARS AND PEOPLE WERE ABLE TO AVOID CONTACT. THERE WAS A CROWD, BUT THANKFULLY NO ONE CALLED THE POLICE. THE CAR ONLY HAD A SMALL SCRATCH ON THE BUMPER. I ALSO REMEMBER A BING..BING..BING NOISE WHEN WE EXITED THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO IT ROLLING AWAY. IT MADE THE SAME NOISE THEN I LEAVE MY HEADLIGHTS ON, BUT THEY AUTO SHUT-OFF IN THE PAST. YOU MAY HAVE FIGURED OUT THAT I FORGOT TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. YES I MADE AN ERROR, BUT FORD COULD HAVE THE CAR MAKE A LOUD NOISE IF THE DRIVER DOOR IS OPENED BEFORE OR AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF AND THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK. I AM A 29 YEAR EMT, AND I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT SAFETY IS ALWAYS ON MY MIND, BUT JUST NOT ON THIS DAY. I AM 63 YEARS OLD, AND ALL MY PREVIOUS CARS WERE UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEYS IF THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK. SO IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PUSH BUTTON START/STOP BUTTON. ISSUE STARTED LATE LAST YEAR, DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT/AUDIO WARNING COMES ON EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED. DOESN'T ALLOW THE DOOR TO LOCK WHILE DRIVING AND THE AUDIO WARNER CONSISTENTLY COMES ON DURING THE DRIVE. THE WARNING COMES ON IMMEDIATELY ONCE THE CAR IS STARTED AND THE WARNING CONTINUES WHEN THE CAR COMES TO A STOP AND WHEN IT BEGINS TO ACCELERATE. WE'VE TAKEN THE CAR WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM ADDRESSED. THE DEALER LOOKED AT IT AND COMMUNICATED THAT THEY'VE HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE. THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED BUT NOW IT'S BACK AGAIN AFTER MAYBE 4 MONTHS.

THIS CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME WAS SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL NINE TIMES SO FAR. FIRST TIME WE WENT TO DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED THE HAD JUST GOT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE. NO NOTIFICATION TO CONSUMERS. AS EVERYONE KNOWS, NO NOTIFICATION TO CONSUMERS IF NOT A RECALL. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND WE FEEL THAT THEY ARE IGNORING THE OBVIOUS. IT'S PASS DUE FOR AN INVESTIGATION. FORD REFUSES TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE. FORD DOES NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM BUT JUST STATES IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IF THE COVERING WAS OPENED SOMEONE WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL VEHICLES BUT FORD REFUSES TO DO A RECALL. IT IS GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE GETTING SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE FORD RECOGNIZES THE PROBLEM AS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.
