Your brake pedal went all the way to the floor while driving in traffic, nearly causing you to hit the vehicle in front of you. Your mechanic indicated this is a known ongoing issue with Ford vehicles and a recall matter. The vehicle hasn't been repaired yet despite contacting your Ford dealer and Ford Motor Company. This repair will likely involve inspection and replacement of brake system components, potentially including the master cylinder or brake lines.

Your ABS (anti-lock brake) system failed without warning or error codes. The brake pedal sinks nearly to the floor before brakes engage, taking about half a second longer to work than normal, and the pedal hits the floor due to interference. While brakes do eventually work once pressure builds, the delay is concerning and creates a safety risk in emergency braking situations. The fix will likely require replacing or rebuilding the ABS hydraulic module and checking the brake system components.

Your ABS module and hydraulic control unit aren't working properly. Your Ford dealership was unable to find a replacement part because the manufacturer is no longer producing them. You may notice your ABS system not functioning, which affects your car's braking performance. Fixing this will likely require replacing the ABS module/hydraulic control unit, though you may need to check with the manufacturer about part availability for your model year.

My vehicle started having a "spongy" pedal feel when I pushed on my brakes going to work and returning home. I was going to be taking my grandchildren to Branson, MO, on Thursday morning, [XXX], and was able to get Marvin Merritt, mechanic, to look at my vehicle before leaving to make sure we would be okay traveling. Marvin notified me that my brake booster needed replace and it was not safe to travel. I made other arrangements to go to Branson. When I got back I paid Marvin for services rendered and got my letter from the Ford Motor Company Dated March 2024. I took my letter, the invoice from Marvin Merritt and turned it into Friendly Ford Dealership / Service man, Derrick and he filed a claim for me and said he did not see any reason why they would deny my claim based on the information I turned in. I waited 4 week, calling weekly for updates, before being told my claim was being denied. Derrick gave me the following number to call 1-800-392-3673 and they stated they would not honor the warrenty because it was not fixed at a Ford Dealership. I asked for an email or mailing address so I could send my information to them and was denied. She stated she would give me a claim number which was case # [XXX]. and I shared the following information on the phone. 1.“I received Ford’s March 2024 letter stating that if my vehicle had exceeded 150,000 miles, coverage would continue through November 30, 2025. My vehicle had exceeded that mileage, so I relied on this written coverage.” 2.“I had the brake booster repaired on July 11, 2025—well within the coverage period Ford outlined. Despite this, my claim was denied.” 3.“I am requesting Ford to honor its written commitment and reimburse the cost of my repair. Given that this matter involves a brake system safety issue, I trust Ford will resolve this promptly. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The brake booster continues to fail. I replaced this part for the second time 6 months ago, the first time was roughly 9 months before that. The failure of this part causes the brake pedal to drop to the floor making stopping tricky. I have had no accidents, no police report and no warning. No dash lights illuminate indicating a problem as well as no symptoms before the failure.

New brake booster, new brakes put on 6 months ago, ABS now has problems. Car starts to skid when braking, only 1 brake works, car only has about 140,000 miles on it. When on the freeway at about 60-65 mph, car will start to lose power and shake until you hit the brakes really hard 2 or 3 times, no accident yet but if not fixed, it will happen. Brake pedal goes down to the floor will sitting at a red light or at a stop light.

Brake pedal sinks all the way to the floor to be able to break. Dealership changed brake booster to solve the problem. It was replaced but it’s still doing the same thing. Next recommendation was to change the brake master cylinder. It was also replacement but still having the same issue. Now the dealership is recommending to change the HCU (hydraulic control unit). I did some research that some ford vehicles is under a recall about HCU’s. But not specifically for 2014 Ford Edge. I am reaching out to get this looked over and consider this part of Ford Edge recall as well. Thank you

I own a 2014 Ford Edge, when pressing on the brake pedal, it goes all the way to the floor and have to pump the brakes to make sure I don't hit the car a head of me. 5 minutes later it is back to normal. Or when stopped at a red light the brake pedal will all of a sudden go down to the floor. And now when I brake I get a high pitched wind squealing noise. Also the back driver side passenger door will have a door ajar warning on the dash and that comes and goes and could be dangerous for any passenger sitting in that seat.

AUG. 2023 Mileage 89,000 - 2014 Ford Edge SEL FWD - Program 13N02 eligible??? MOST CRITICAL ISSUE: While driving in highway commuter traffic, traffic came to abrupt stop going 65 miles an hour; I depressed brakes almost completely to the floor but car would not stop. Was able to get pulled onto shoulder and get stopped. I sat and slowly pumped the brakes and the pressure on the brakes finally returned. I'm told brake cylinder replacement ONLY will not solve the issue. There aren't any warning lights, brake fluid is normal level, brake pads and rotors in good shape. So there is no reasonable explanation for what happened other than Ford sold me car with faulty brakes. I see no recalls after 2010. Ford needs to replace my brake booster, Master Cylinder and the HCU at Ford expense. Brake pedal and noise while braking - screeching sounds. I took it to a local dealer for analysis, they pressed on the brake several times, and replicated the squeal. Was told it was the brake booster, that there had been issues with it in several of the Ford models. FORD needs to also replace Master Cylinder and the HCU to ensure this doesn't happen again. I thought I was going to die on the freeway when brakes pressed to floorboard would not stop the car. THOUSANDS OF HISTORICAL ISSUES WITH OTHER FORD EDGE: Brake Pedal Sinks To Floor NHTSA Complaint ID: 11343191 Will urgently await Ford response - I only have this one vehicle and need resolved before I loose my life in the vehicle. I am wanting to file a complaint about the safety of my 2014 ford edge. My brakes are very hard to push and get stopped. Even after I am stopped and have my foot on the brake my car still wants to move. I have also experienced where the brake pedal goes to the floor and then the pressure has to build back up before they will work correctly. I have done some searching about this problem and have found that the brake booster goes bad often. I have also found that replacing just the booster does not usually permanently fix the problem. It says that the hydraulic control unit and the brake master cylinder need to be replaced also. How is this not a safety issue and a recall been issued? This is around a $2000.00 fix from what I have read about.

The Hydraulic Control on the braking system went out. The total cost of repair is $1828. The garage I took it to says he has had several come in with the same problem. Ford Motor Company did a recall in 2019 on three of their models from 2006-2010 because of a defect in the same part. I believe the Ford Edge needs to be recalled for the same reason.

2014 Ford Edge was purchased in 5/2015 with 6k miles on it. It was a leftover from 2014. There have been constant brake pulsating issues (details below) from the day it was purchased. Rotors have been cut down or replaced every year since the car was purchased. New brake pads have also been required just about every year. The HCU was replaced in 6/2021, which the Ford Dealership admitted was an issue they were seeing with many models however there was no recall ever done. The most recent is an issue with the Brake Booster, which has been confirmed by the dealership. The car is currently at the Ford Dealership. When applying the brakes, the pedal is spongy, and a pulsating is felt in the pedal. This is felt at all speeds but becomes a safety issue at speeds over 30. Braking becomes very hard, and this causes the rotors to heat up and could potentially cause a fatality. Ford recalled 2010-2013 models back in 2014 but only for certain VIN numbers. However, there are customer complaints dating back to 2007. The braking systems on 2007-2014 Ford Edges need to be looked into or there could loss of life.

I was driving my Ford Edge at approximately 35 mph. As I approached a stoplight, I depressed the brake pedal and it immediately went all the way to the floor with almost no braking action. I was able to get some braking by pumping the brakes continually, avoiding an accident at the light. As a local Pep Boys store had replaced the brake pads about 5 weeks earlier, I chose to slowly and carefully drive the car to their location. The brakes continued to require pumping for any braking action. At Pep Boys, I turned off the vehicle and went inside. They phoned me a few hours later to say that they found that the brakes worked fine. They found no fluid leaks, the master cylinder was full, and they could not duplicate any problem. I did a little research on the internet and found two reports of similar incidents at https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/ford-edge-master-cylinder-recalls-a-deeper-dive. The two excerpts read: "Brake Pedals Travel to the Floor "One Ford Edge owner reported that the vehicle suddenly lost braking power. The brake pedal pushed all the way to the floor, and they nearly were involved in a collision. After stopping the vehicle and turning it back on, the brakes began to work normally. "In another consumer complaint, the same issue happened. An independent repair shop reinstalled the master cylinder and manually bled the brake lines to fix the issue." I made an appointment with All American Ford in Old Bridge, NJ and dropped my car there on August 16, 2022. I was notified on August 20 that they could find nothing wrong with the vehicle. There was no warning nor prior symptoms of the brake failure. The brakes have continued to work since I turned the vehicle off at Pep Boys. No warning lamps or messages concerning the failure were displayed. I did come across similar failure reports for Edges that claimed the root cause was a combination of master cylinder, brake power booster and electronic brake control module, but my dealer was unaware.

IT SEEMS EVERY 2 YEARS OR 20,000 MILES THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILS. FORTUNATELY WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED, IT WAS RIGHT AFTER START UP AND BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACES. THE PEDAL BECAME STIFF WITH NO STOPPING POWER. I HAD THE BOOSTER REPLACED IN BOTH INSTANCES IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FIRST SYMPTOMS OF FAILURE OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY THE FAILURES DID NOT OCCUR WHILE ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAYS. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2011 THRU 2013 FORD EDGE MODELS. YOU MAY CONSIDER INCLUDING THE 2014 EDGE FOR A RECALL AS WELL.

BOUGHT THE 2014 FORD EDGE BRAND NEW. IN MARCH 2015. (JANUARY 23, 2017) @ 21680 MILES: HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE PADS/ROTORS AND SERVICED CALIPERS (PARTS & LABOR COST: $385.05). (APRIL 2, 2018) @ 32000 MILES: HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS/ROTORS AND SERVICED CALIPERS (PARTS/LABOR COST: $400). MY DEALER SAYS "IT'S DUE TO THE HARSH CENTRAL NEW YORK WINTERS AND ITS NORMAL WEAR & TEAR;THEREFORE NOT COVERED UNDER THE 3 YR 36 MONTH WARRANTY". I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY BOTH REAR AND FRONT BRAKES SYSTEMS HAVE HAD PROBLEMS AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I WOULD AT LEAST EXPECT THE BRAKE SYSTEM TO PERFORM AT EXCEPTIONAL LEVEL GREATER THAN THE MY MILES DRIVEN TO DATE OF 32000 MILES. IN THE PAST, I HAVE DRIVEN TOYOTA'S AND JEEP'S AND NEVER EXPERIENCED BRAKE ISSUES AND/OR REPAIRS IN LESS THAN 45000 MILES. FORD SHOULD REALLY PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE QUALITY OR THEIR PRODUCT AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL AS THE "BRAKING SYSTEM" STINKS AND IS UNACCEPTABLE.

AT 60,000 MILES MY 2014 FORD EDGE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT AROUND 10 MPH ON MY STREET AS I WAS GETTING READY TO PARK WHICH EFFECTED BRAKING. THIS CAUSED ME TO HIT THE HIGH CONCRETE CURB IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE AND MESS UP MY FRONT BUMPER. I ENDED UP HAVING TO PULL THE LOWER BUMPER COVER OFF TO KEEP IT FROM DRAGGING THE GROUND. THE MASTER DOESN'T COMPLETELY FAIL THOUGH, IT WORKS FOR ABOUT A DOZEN STOPS AND THEN THE PEDAL GETS SOFT FOR ONE STOP. UPON CALLING FORD THIS IS ONE OF THE VIN NUMBERS THAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THERE ARE SO MANY FAILURES OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER WITH A LOT OF FORD MODELS THAT HAVE THE SAME ENGINE, BUT I'M SUPPOSE TO BELIEVE THEY GOT THE PROBLEM FIXED BEFORE MY VEHICLES...I HAVE A FEELING THAT AS VEHICLES START TO HIT THE SAME MILEAGE AROUND MY YEAR THERE WILL BE A LOT MORE OF THESE ISSUES POPPING UP.

WHEN THE VEHICLE SITS OVERNIGHT IN THE GARAGE AND I FIRST BACK OUT THE REAR BRAKES MAKE A GRINDING NOISE LIKE THE PADS ARE STICKING. WHEN I START FORWARD IN DRIVE IT STOPS. THE REAR ROTORS ARE BEING GROOVED WITH THIS MARKS. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 23,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES ARE ONLY COVERED FOR 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES
