I PURCHASED MY CAR IN DEC 2013. I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER THE VERY NEXT DAY DUE TO THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUOUS ISSUE WITH THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR AND THE DOOR DOES NOT PROPERLY LATCH. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND IF I LOCK THE DOOR THEN THE ALARM GOES OFF ALL DAY OR NIGHT AT RANDOM. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE . I HAVE HAD IT FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS.
WHEN I GET INTO MY CAR, CLOSE THE DOOR, AND START THE ENGINE, THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR SIGN COMES ON. IT STAYS ON, AS WELL AS THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS, EVEN IF I SHUT THE PASSENGER DOOR.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, IT PREVENTS FROM MY DOORS FROM LOCKING AND I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. IT HAS TRAPPED ME IN THE CAR, I HAD TO CLIMB OVER INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT AND EXIT OUT OF THAT DOOR. IT ALSO DRAINS MY BATTERY BECAUSE THE LIGHTS STAY ON IN THE CAR.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING WHILE DRIVING EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS SHUT. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN. OVERHEAD LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE CAR IS PARKED. CAN MAKE THE CAR IDEAL FOR THEFT AND UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD BECAUSE THE DOORS WON'T LOCK.
DOOR LATCH WON'T CLOSE. SHOWS THAT DOOR IS AJAR AND THE LIGHTS ON INSIDE WON'T GO OFF BECAUSE THE DOOR LOOKS AS IF IT'S OPEN. IT HAPPENS EACH TIME THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS OPENED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW YEARS. IN 2014, I THOUGHT FORD HAD FIXED THE ISSUE AND I FOUND OUT TODAY THAT THEY ONLY CLEANED IT. HAVING TO PAY $588 FOR A NEW DOOR LATCH ISN'T GOOD ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR ...THIS IS CAUSING MY DOME LIGHTS TO JUST COME ON GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND TANK GOODNESS WHEN THIS HAPPENED THERE WASN'T ANOTHER CAR NEAR ME BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE CRASHED INTO THEM BECAUSE IT BLINDED ME. ALSO MY DOORS WANT LOCK WHEN THIS SENSOR IS MESSING UP. I HAVE ALREADY HAD ONE REPLACED AND NOW ANOTHER ONE I THINK THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND FORD WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT.
THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT LOCATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STAYS ON ALL OF THE TIME EVEN WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED AND FULLY LATCHED. WHEN THE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY, THE VEHICLE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHICH IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON AND THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON IS PRESSED, THE DOORS LOCK AND THEN UNLOCK WITHIN A SECOND APART. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS EXITED AND LOCKED WITH THE REMOTE, THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ILLUMINATED.
DOOR AJAR SWITCH DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY. WHEN DOOR IS CLOSE, IT SAYS ITS OPEN AND ALL INTERIOR LIGHT REMAIN ON. DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT AND BATTERY WILL RUN DOWM
THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE DRIVER AND REAR LEFT PASSENGER DOORS ARE CLOSED. THE DOORS ARE CLOSED FIRMLY, BUT THE WARNING LIGHT STILL SHOWS THE DOORS TO BE OPEN. THE DOORS ARE CLOSED AND LOCKED, BUT THE CAR REGISTERS THEM AS OPEN, AND THUS KEEPS THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT ON ALONG WITH THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS OF THE CAR. WITHOUT NO WAY TO TURN OFF THE LIGHTS THEY END UP DRAINING THE BATTERY.
DOOR AJAR STAYS ON ON DRIVER SIDE.
THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT CONTINUES TO ACTIVATE EVENTHOUGH MY DOOR IS CLEARLY CLOSED. THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED AND NOW THE DRIVER "DOOR AJAR" IS ACTIVATED. THE PROBLEM IS THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN "DOOR AJAR" IS ACTIVATED AND I HAVE VERY SMALL CHILDREN. VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE RECENTLY DISCOVERED THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL BY FORD.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LITE REMAINS ON EVEN IF DOOR CLOSED SECURELY. DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND SIGNAL REMAINS O WHEN CAR MOVING OR STATIONARY. IN SOME CASES WHEN DOOR AJAR SIGNAL ON THE INTERIOR LIGHT REMAIN ON AND DO NOT GO OUT IN 1 MINUTE AS NORMAL.
THE DASH WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING LEFT DRIVER DOOR IS OPEN. STARTED OUT AS INTERMITTENT NOW IT REMAINS MORE CONSTANT.. STARTED MALFUNCTIONING PRIOR TO WARRANTY EXPIRED AND I WOULD SLAM THE DOOR SHUT AND LIGHT WOULD GO OUT. BECAME MORE FREQUENT AND NOW IT STAYS LIT MOST OF THE TIME.. VERY AGGRAVATING.
DOOR AJAR STAYS UN CAUSING INTERIOR KIGHTS TO REMAIN ON CAUSING SAFETY HAZARD AT NIGHT AND KILLS THE BATTERY. IT HAPPENS WHEN SITTING IN PARK AND WHILE DRIVING.
WHEN I GET IN MY FORD EDGE AND CLOSE MY DOOR, IT SAYS DRIVER DOOR AJAR, HAVE TO SLAM THE DOOR 4 OR 5 TIMES, AND INTERIOR LIGHT STAY ON AND WONT LOCK EITHER ,FAULTY LATCH. ITS A SAFETY ISSUE, WAS STATIONARY, THEN WHEN I WAS DRIVING IT CAME ON DRIVER DOOR AGAR
DOOR AJAR AND LATCH ISSUE -DOOR AJAR SIGNAL STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED -INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON -INABILITY TO LOCK DOORS WHILE IN VEHICLE -FAULTY LATCH ON DRIVERS SIDE DOOR -THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND CREATES A NIGHT DRIVING HAZARD -FALSE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL PREVENTS DRIVER FROM RECOGNIZING A REAL DOOR AJAR SITUATION -THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE
DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR IS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE'S INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL INDICATE THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS FIRMLY CLOSED. THIS ALERT OFTEN APPEARS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. WHEN I EXIT THE VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEM OCCURS, THIS WILL PREVENT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FROM GOING OUT AND IT WILL PREVENT THE SECURITY SYSTEM FROM ARMING. THIS PROBLEM IS DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE ALERTS AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTING, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. THE ISSUE HAS ALSO RESULTED IN THEFT FROM MY VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OFF, THE DOME LIGHTS DO NOT GO OFF AS THE SENSOR INDICATES THE DOOR IS OPEN. WHILE PARKED OUTSIDE MY HOUSE, MY VEHICLE WAS BROKEN INTO WITHOUT THE ALARM SOUNDING, RESULTING IN THEFT OF PERSONAL ITEMS INCLUDING CHECKS, CASH, AND ELECTRONICS. THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY HAS ALSO DRAINED OVERNIGHT TO THE POINT OF NEEDING A JUMP START.
THE LATCH DOOR AJAR DOME LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN THE FOO IS CLOSED
DRIVER DOOR AJAR SHOWS ON DASHBOARD INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN ATTEMPTING TOOCK CAR, IT GIVES A DOUBLE SIGNAL AS IF IT IS NOT LOCKED. LIGHTS STAY ON IN THE CAR.
THE DRIVERS DOOR CLOSURE SENSOR DOES NOT REGISTER THE DOOR BEING CLOSED.THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURS THE DASH WARNING SYSTEM INDICATES A WARNING TO PULL OVER AND CLOSE THE DOOR. SOMETIMES THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT DOES NOT SHUTOFF AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN PARKED.
IT STARTED IN MAY 2015 WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DRIVER DOOR, THE SCREEN WILL ALWAYS DISPLAY "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" AND SHOWING THE CAR ICON SHOWING THE DRIVER DOOR OPEN, AND ALL DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK WHETHER AT FULL STOP OR WHEN MOVING. THE DASHBOARD SCREEN WILL DISPLAY ALSO "SHIFT TO PARK" INTERCHANGEABLY WITH "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL KEEP ON FOR ABOUT 30 MINS WHEN IN MOTION AND WHEN THE CAR ENGINE IS ALREADY OFF.
THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT SECURELY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, PARTICULARLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. WE HAD THIS FIXED ONCE FOR OVER $150 AT A DEALERSHIP. NOW LESS THAN A YEAR LATER WE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHT AND COMPASS MALFUNCTIONED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FAILED TO TURN OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND DOOR WERE CLOSED. AS A RESULT, THE FAILURE CAUSED THE BATTERY TO BE COMPLETELY DRAINED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,173.
VEHICLE STATES "DOOR AJAR WITH ALL DOORS PROPERLY CLOSED. COMPLAINT IS ONGOING. HERE IS THE ISSUE. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ON AND REMAIN ON UNTIL VEHICLE IS GOING OVER 5MPH IN A FORWARD GEAR. YOU TOTALLY LOSE VISIBILITY TO BACK UP. YOU CANNOT SEE ANYTHING TO BACK UP. IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEEING GOING FORWARD TO ATTAIN 5+ MPH TO TURN OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS. THE PROBLEM IS MINIMALLY ANNOYING DURING DAYTIME HOURS AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT. YOU ARE FORCED TO BACK UP TOTALLY BLIND. IT IS DANGEROUS YOU COULD BACK OVER A PEDESTRIAN, A FIXED OBJECT, OR ANOTHER CAR. FORD TOOK A RELIABLE AND SIMPLE PROCESS AND CREATED A DIFFICULT (AND EXPENSIVE) UNRELIABLE PROCESS AND IT IS FAILING ON SEVERAL CARS. *TR
