2017 Chevrolet Volt Transmission Problems

While driving approximately 65 MPH on an interstate highway, the vehicle's check engine light illuminated. Very shortly after, the dashboard screen displayed the message "propulsion power reduced," and the internal combustion engine turned on.

Driving on interstate doing 65 and suddenly warning pops up and car dies immediately. I was lucky to get over to the edge and not wreck or cause an accident. Found that the 12 volt battery was not being charged without warning until failure.

There is a part that fails on a lot of GM vehicles due to getting clogged (an EGR valve). It prevents the vehicle from reaching high speeds on the highway and can fail while driving (which happened to me). I could have lost control of the vehicle on the highway and crashed or gotten rear-ended.

When placing my car into Park and then powering it off I get an error message telling me to shift to park to shut vehicle off even though it is in park. Problem is two fold: I cant turn the car off and the result is a battery that runs dead. Very frustrating and if the car isnt off it could accidentally be put into gear by a child.

The EGR valve had failed, causing a check engine light, which turned into a blown fuse. The fuse blowing left the vehicle stranded until I unplugged the EGR valve and replaced the fuse. I drove it to a shop, where they replaced the valve and the car has been functional since then.

1 month ago was driving on toll and Population power is reduced came on, vehicle was reaving high and felt like power was being reduced/speed, was going 70 and had to immediately decrease speed and get off toll and found closest Chevy shop. Vehicle periodically throws P0964 and P0AC4 related to TSB PIC6330. Recently, this has LED to poor running of internal combustion engine and low/undrivable power, almost leaving me stranded. Took multiple restarts before I could drive the vehicle.

On 3/11/2023, I was heading home when my vehicle lost power in the middle of the freeway. Luckily, I was able to safely pull over to the side of the freeway. Since this is a plug-in hybrid, there are two gauges showing how much electric and gas is in the car.

This vehicle has a very dangerous malfunction. There was no power when I tried to move out of the way of an out-of-control semi truck while driving on the highway by pressing the pedal. I made every effort to maneuver because I was terrified.

Loss of Motive Power due to EGR Valve. I was driving down the highway when I experienced a loss of motive power and the Volt entered a reduced power state while in moving traffic. It is an ongoing issue and that happens intermittently. When arriving to a stop (at times) the car still advances forward about a foot, even when the brake pedal is being used as far as it can. Also the vehicle claims to be losing propulsion, often, and seems strained when operating when the message appears.

I am experiencing the widely documented "shift to park" issue. [xxx] when I am parking the car, I shift into park and turn off the car power. But often a red warning light flashes in the center console instructing me to "shift to park".

Shift to park issue is present and getting worse. Unable to turn off car when it occurs. As this is common to this model it should be treated as a direct and gm should repair as part of a recall.

FREQUENTLY WHEN TRYING TO PARK AND TURN OFF THE CAR, I WILL RECEIVE A "SHIFT TO PARK" ALERT ON THE DASH. THE CAR IS ALREADY IN "PARK" AND I AM TRYING TO TURN OFF THE CAR. I'VE HAD DIFFICULTY MAKING ADJUSTMENTS (E.G. HITTING THE BRAKE, TRYING TO ADJUST THE SHIFTING MECHANISM) TO GET THE CAR TO RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS ALREADY IN PARK.

SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS IN PARK, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL AND INSTALLED AN UPDATED HARNESS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. BASED ON GOOGLE SEARCHES, THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE CHEVY VOLT.

CAR IS GIVING A MESSAGE SAYING, "ACTION REQUIRED: SHIFT TO PARK, WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK AND TRYING TO TURN THE CAR OFF. SEARCHING FOR THIS ON THE INTERNET REVEALS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVROLET VOLT AND OTHER CHEVROLET MODELS.

Car is not turning off when stopped. Displays "action required" shift to park. This is a problem that has been around and chevrolet has not fixed the problem.

When vehicle runs out of gas and only has battery power (no matter the charge) the car goes into reduced power mode which is dangerous in any traffic especially interstate highways!!! This happens every time you run of gas!! Also the adaptive cruise not working all the time and disengages by its self for no reason(like nothing in front of you)!!
