The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the tailgate opened independently without warning. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) and linked the failure to the recall. The local dealer was notified about the failure, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not covered under the recall, and the contact was provided with an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure, but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
