Your truck caught fire in the engine bay while parked in your garage, four days after you last drove it. The fire started on its own without any apparent cause and water from a garden hose couldn't extinguish it—the fire department took 20 minutes to arrive. Your insurance company has been unresponsive since the incident. A complete engine bay inspection and fire investigation will be needed to determine the cause.

Your brake pedal may not stop the vehicle properly, particularly at low speeds (2-5 mph) like when backing out of your driveway. A shop diagnosed this as a faulty vacuum pump, which helps power your brakes. Even though you replaced the brake pads, the problem persisted until the vacuum pump was identified as the root cause. Getting this repaired involves replacing or rebuilding the vacuum pump to restore proper brake function.

I believe Ray Chevrolet (Antioch, IL & Fox Lake, IL) are negligent in that they did not apply treatment as described in TSB #14002A while they had custody of our 2014 Chevy Silverado. The vehicle has been maintained mostly by the Fox Lake, IL location, but was purchased at the Antioch, IL location new. TSB #14002a clearly states that before the vehicle is released to the customer that the treatment should be applied. The vehicle has been maintained mostly at the Ray Chevrolet Fox Lake, Il 60020 dealership location over the past 10 or 11 years. Not once did any mechanic or service advisor mention TSB #14002A nor the deteriorating state of the truck's frame. This became a safety issue as described below. I was traveling on [XXX] which is under construction. I hit a bump and temporarily lost control of the vehicle. I also talked to my wife who also drives the vehicle. She said it sounded like an empty gas can was rolling around in the truck's bed. I took the vehicle into Ray Chevrolet at the Fox Lake, Il 60020 location and talked to a service advisor and told him about temporarily losing control of the vehicle and what my wife said about the loud bangs. We received notification from the Ray Chevrolet Fox Lake, Il dealership's service center via DM with a video attached. I watched the video and called the service advisor. The service advisor told me that the repair wasn't worth doing because it was more expensive to do than what the truck was worth. The same service advisor told my wife they would not do the repair which is replacing the truck's frame at an estimated cost of $15,000.00. He also told my wife that the truck is unsafe to drive. Because these service centers did not apply treatment either when the truck was purchased new or during the 10 or so years it's been serviced by these service centers, I believe these service centers have been negligent in their responsibilities to me and my wife. Chevy and GMC pick-ups are having engines blow up because of a problem with the system that makes the pickup go from 8 cylinder to 4 cylinder. This needs to be looked into immediately. Chevy has taken no action/responsibility to alert people that this is a problem with their vehicles. At the advice of our mechanic, we purchased something that completely turns off the active fuel management or multiple displacement system. This is an almost certain problem waiting to happen. Chevy should be notifying people of the problem and offering to pay for the fix. Or maybe a recall should be issued. Please look into this.

The frame on my truck is completely rusted out. There isn't a spot of rust anywhere else on my truck. I know there is knowledge of a wax coating problem. Why isn't this being fixed? I called GM corporate office and no one could tell me anything. They acted like they had no idea what was going on. I also tried my local dealership.... I left a message over a week ago and no one has called me back. What is going to be done about this issue?? I know others that have the same issue and no one is telling us anything.

Brought truck into dealer for trade in. Dealer refused to offer trade due to excessive rusting of the frame. Dealer informed me that this situation has been prevalent in Chevy trucks due to negligence during the manufacturing process. Truck body and engine are in good condition. only 120000 miles. After leaving dealership researched this problem on line and now see that there are numerous consumers that have suffered the same fate. This is totally unacceptable and GM should do something about this to compensate their customers. GM apparently failed to treat the steel frame properly during manufacturing causing the steel to deteriorate prematurely.

My pickup has 71,000 miles and the frame has cracks in it and very rusted out. There’s got to be something done , I am still paying for it, I have it for roughly 2 1/2 years. Even though it is a 2014 it looks to be good shape, but don’t llook at the frame. My mechanic will not put it on a lift because he is afraid crushing it completely. Pictures attached.

The air conditioner condenser has a small leak causing the refrigerant to leak out. This is a known problem with all gm Silverado 2014-2017 and a recall needs to be issued. They are all leaking in the same place due to a faulty weld from the factory.

My 2014 Chevy Silverado crew cab 1500 has started to vibrate. It’s like it comes and goes sometime. I was driving down the highway and something didn’t feel right so I thought it was the road surface that was making my truck feel that way. I then was driving on a newly resurfaced road an it was feeling the same like I had a flat tire. The tires were ok. It had this vibration.

THE AC CONDENSER IN THIS TRUCK FAILED RIGHT AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ENDED, LIKE IN MANY OTHER GM TRUCKS IN THE YEARS 2014-17. WITH VERY LITTLE RESEARCH IT IS KNOWN TO BE A POORLY WELDED AC CONDENSER WHICH DESTINE TO FAIL. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED TO BE A RECALL FOR THESE TRUCKS AND OTHER VEHICLES LOSING AC. WITHOUT PROPER FUNCTIONING AC, I CAN NOT FILTER AIR COMING IN THE VEHICLE WHICH IS A NECESSITY TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. I CAN'T FILTER OUT FIRE SMOKE WHICH IS ABUNDANT IN CA EVERY FIRE SEASON, VEHICLE WINDOWS MUST BE UP AND N95 MASKS ARE REQUIRED WHEN EXPOSED TO THE SMOKE. I CAN'T FILTER OUT CORONA VIRUS, WHICH IS THE NEW NORMAL, MASKS ARE REQUIRED TO BE WARN AT ALL TIMES OUTSIDE. I CAN'T FILTER OUT ANYTHING IN THE AIR THAT REQUIRES ME TO ROLL UP THE WINDOWS; SMOG, EXHAUST FORM A CLOSE VEHICLE, ETC... WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE BECOMES DEATH TRAP, THE TEMPERATURE GETS TO UNSAFE LEVELS AND THE OPERATOR HAS NOT CHOICE BUT TO EXPOSE THE PASSENGER TO THE ELEMENTS WHICH THESE DAYS IS A HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE, AND IT IS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE. AC IS NOT A LUXURY ANYMORE, FILTERING TEMPERATURE APPROPRIATE AIR IS A NECESSITY, AND REQUIRED FOR SAFE HANDLING OF THE VEHICLE.

THE WAX COATING TO PREVENT RUST ON THE TRUCK'S FRAME IS FALLING OFF. THE FRAME HAS A MAJOR RUST PROBLEM; THE TRUCK HAVING A LOW MILEAGE OF 25,801 AT THE TIME I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHEVY CASE #9-559725037 AND #9-5593674272. THE TRUCK WAS EXAMINED AT BALISE CHEVROLET OF SPRINGFIELD MA. PHONE #413-734-6498, FAX #413-734-4421 WHERE THEY TOOK PHOTOS OF THE PROBLEM. BALISE ADVISED ME IT WOULD COST $1200.00 TO FIX THIS RUST PROBLEM. BALISE ASSIGNED A REPAIR ORDER #667705 AND CONTACTED GM. GM ADVISED THE DEALERSHIP THEY WOULD NOT COVER ANY OF THE COSTS, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM TO GM IN THE MANUFACTURING OF CHEVY PICK-UP TRUCKS FROM 2014 TO 2018. I DISCOVERED THE FRAME RUST ONLY BY CHANCE WHEN MY TRUCK WAS ON A LIFT FOR A FLAT TIRE REPAIR WHILE AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. I LOOKED INTO THE INTERNET AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR CHEVY TRUCK FRAME RUST, (NHTSA #S P10564D AND P10564H, TSB # 14002A, NHTSA ID # 10067212) AND A MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION # SB-144002A. IT IS MY BELIEF THE RUST FRAME PROBLEM SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY GM/CHEVY BECAUSE IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT KNOWN TO THE COMPANY. GM/CHEVY SHOULD HAVE SENT OUT A RECALL ON THIS HIDDEN DEFECT, LONG BEFORE I DISCOVERED IT BY CHANCE AND MY 3 YEAR WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. PLEASE NOTE THE LOW MILEAGE OF MY TRUCK IS UNDER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY.

TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACKSEAT OF THE TRUCK, ONE IN A REAR FACING CAR SEAT WERE BEYOND OVER HEATED AND WELL ON THEIR WAY TO HEAT EXHAUSTION BY THE TIME WE REACHED THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO TEMPERATURES REACHING ABOVE 95 WITHIN THE CAB. TRUCK WAS SEEN AT DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED DUE TO VIBRATION FROM DRIVING, THE A/C DISCHARGE HOSE WAS CRACKED ALLOWING THE HEAT FROM THE ENGINE TO BE BLOWN DIRECTLY INTO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. HOSE WAS REPLACED AD A BRACKET ADDED TO IMPROVE THE STABILITY OF THE HOSE AND REFRIGERANT ADDED. EIGHT MONTHS AND 4 DAYS LATER, A/C SUDDENLY BEGAN BLOWING HOT AIR AGAIN. WAS ADVISED AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE HIGH SIDE SERVICE PORT WAS NOW LEAKING AND NEEDED A VALVE REPLACEMENT AND REFRIGERANT ADDED AGAIN.

THIS IS A $1,100 REPAIR INCLUDING PARTS AND LABOR THAT SHOULD NOT BE THE BURDEN OF THE CONSUMER AS GM HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS IS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. IN THE MEANWHILE WE HAVE TO DRIVE WITH OUR WINDOWS DOWN WHICH EXPOSES US TO EXHAUST FUMES OF OTHER VEHICLES AND DEBRIS BEING FREE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. THEY NEVER NOTIFIED ME ABOUT THE RECALL WHEN IT WAS STILL COVERED AND NOW THAT THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED, THEY NOTIFIED ME SAYING THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO BE COVERED OUT OF POCKET. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO HAVE OTHER RECALLS DONE WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND AFTER A 4X4 ISSUED RECALL WAS RELEASED. MY 2014 SILVERADO LTZ 1500 HAS HAD A DISTRACTING VIBRATION/SHAKE SINCE DAY ONE THAT IS FELT AT ALMOST ALL SPEEDS. I NOTIFIED THEM OF IMMEDIATELY. THEY REBALANCED THE TIRES, IT DID NOT HELP. THE CHANGED ALL FOUR TIRES TWO DIFFERENT TIMES, IT DID NOT HELP. THEY DID SOME SPECIAL LOAD BALANCING, IT DID NOT HELP. WITH 32K ON IT AND MY WARRANTY RUNNING OUT I GAVE IT BACK TO THEM AGAIN FOR ANOTHER REBALANCING, THAT DID NOT HELP. MY BROTHER FULLY AGREES WITH ME ABOUT THE VIBRATION/SHAKE; WE ARE BOTH PREVIOUS OWNERS OF SILVERADO 1500'S THAT RODE EXCELLENT. HE NOW HAS A 2013 GMC SIERRA THAT RIDES JUST FINE. FRUSTRATED WITH MY RIDE AND LACK OF RESOLUTION I TEST DROVE A 2016 SILVERADO LTZ Z71 HOPING TO TRADE OUT OF THE ISSUE; BUT THE 2016 RIDE WAS NO BETTER. CHEVROLET HAS AN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED!

WAS DRIVING TO PHYSICAL THERAPY. PULLED UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND "STABILITRACK FAILURE" POPED UP. WAS PULLING INTO THE DOCTORS OFFICE NOT 8 MIN L8R CAME UP AGAIN BUT THIS TIME STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP THEN UN LOCKED THEN LOCKED UP MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE I WAS TRYING TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE. THANKFULLY I WAS GOING AT AN EXTREMELY LOW SPEED AND I COULD CONTROL THE VEHICLE BETWEEN IT LOCKING AND UNLOCKING. WHEN I LEFT THE DOCTORS OFFICE I NOTICED MY SETTINGS RESET. EX DASHBOARD DISPLAY SHOWED THE RADIO STATION INSTEAD OF THE FUEL ECONOMY. I SIMPLY CHANGED IT AND NOTICED THE COMPUTER ERASED MY PREVIOUS FUEL ECONOMY. I'M ASSUMING THEIRS SOME MALFUNCTION BETWEEN THE COMPUTER AND THESE SYSTEMS. AND FROM THE LOOKS OF IT MY VEHICLE ISN'T THE ONLY VEHICLE WITH THIS ISSUE. NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND I'LL BE TAKING THIS BACK TO THE DEALER AND IT WILL BE FIXED AND NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN OR I WON'T PURCHASE ANOTHER GM VEHICLE.

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH AND THE KID IN THE BACK OF THE CREWCAB PICKUP OPENED THE REAR DOOR. THE TRUCK LOCKS THE DOORS WHEN IT IS PUT INTO DRIVE. BUT WHEN HE PULLED ON THE DOOR LATCH IT OPENED UP. I THOUGHT THE DOORS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. WHEN I TESTED THIS AT HOME, WITH THE TRUCK RUNNING AND IN DRIVE, ANY OF THE DOORS WILL OPEN UP ON THE 2ND PULL ON THE LATCH. THE 1ST PULL UNLOCKS THE DOOR AND ON THE 2ND PULL IT OPENS THE DOOR. I HAVE HAD MANY OTHER TRUCKS AND THEY NEVER DID THIS. SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME. CAN YOUTELL ME IF THE NHTSA HAS ANY SAFETY RULES ON THIS? I CALLED THE DEALER AND TALKED WITH THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND HE CONFIRMED THAT OTHER 2014 SILVERADOS DO THIS TO, SO HE HAD NO FIX FOR IT. THERE IS A CHILD LOCK OUT SWITCH FOR THE READ DOORS, BUT THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE MANUALLY SET EVERY TIME YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE AND WOULD NOT LOCK EITHER OF THE FRONT TWO DOORS.
