You were in a crash at 30 MPH where your Impala's front end hit another vehicle's passenger door. Your airbags did not deploy during the impact, even though the collision caused front-end damage. You experienced neck pain, back pain, and bruises but did not seek medical care. The airbag system was never inspected or repaired after the crash.

Your 2017 Impala was involved in a serious crash when a tractor-trailer hit the front passenger side at 50 mph, but the airbags failed to deploy. You sustained injuries to your back, spine, torso, arms, knees, and shoulders that required medical treatment. Additionally, the doors locked with the keys still inside, and you needed a locksmith to open them. The airbag failure and door lock issue both need investigation to determine what went wrong.

An airbag alert sounds very often, and the passenger airbag indicator shows that it is off. The vehicle has been taken to a dealer and they were not able to find the issue when running the diagnostics. The alarm continues to intermittently sound, and indicator shows the passenger airbag is off. This is of high concern that the airbag most likely will not deploy in case of impact.

MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON NOW ROUGHLY TWO MONTHS AND SOMETIMES I'M ACTUALLY SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR HOPING THAT IT WON'T DEPLOY WHILE I'M DRIVING BUT IT'S MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK.I HAVE CHECKED ALL FUSES I HAVE GOTTEN SOMEONE TO PUT A TESTER LIGHT ON IT TO MAKE SURE THE WIRES ARE NOT BROKENAND THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE FUSES ALL THE WIRES SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT FIRST CAME ON

I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, CAR STALLING, AND CHANGING GEARS SLOW. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE PURGE VALVE WAS BAD AND REPLACED IT ON 7/3/20. MY MOM HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH HER CHEVY TRAX AND A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP IN A DIFFERENT CITY SAID THAT HER PURGE VALVE WAS STUCK OPEN AND REPLACED IT. ALSO MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON NOW. AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEN NO ONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE LIGHT COMES ON FOR SERVICE. THE LIGHT WOULD COME ON ONCE I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE OR ONCE I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THE FIRST TIME THE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF BUT THE SECOND TIME THE LIGHT STAYED ON.I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER TWICE AND IT WAS A BAD SENSOR IN THE SEAT. IT TOOK A WEEK TO GET THE PART FROM THE MANUFACTURER.

AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON AND GOING OFF RANDOMLY. IT BEGAN BECOMING MORE FREQUENT SO I TOOK IT TO OURISMAN CHEVROLET TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR AND AIRBAG MODULE WERE BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND FOR $1979 THEY COULD REPAIR IT, IMAGINE THAT. I LET THEM KNOW THAT IF I HAD TO PUT THAT KIND OF MONEY IN AN AIRBAG EVERY 55,000 MILES I WOULD BE LOOKING AT AN AIRBAG LIGHT FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS.

I WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT FINE AND THAT THERE IS NO ISSUE. I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN I START THE VEHICLE AND WHILE I AM DRIVING I WILL GET THE MESSAGE.

GOOD MORNING, I'M UNSURE OF HOW OFTEN THIS IS HAPPENING, BUT I BELIEVE IT COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE RECENT TAKATA AIR BAG ISSUES. I HAD (BUT HAVE SINCE SOLD) A 2017 CHEVROLET IMPALA THAT MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING ON JULY 4, 2018 WHEN A WARNING LIGHT AND SOUND ON THE DASHBOARD INDICATED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. WE ALSO RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM ONSTAR THAT DAY INDICATING WE SHOULD TAKE THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER BY THE NEXT DAY. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WATSON CHEVROLET IN TUCSON THAT AFTERNOON. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A FAULTY AIRBAG SENSOR WITH AN ESTIMATED COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1100.00 WHICH WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY SINCE OUR VEHICLE HAD OVER 36,000 MILES ON IT. I WORK AT A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD BY OUR SERVICE MANAGER THAT THIS SORT OF ISSUE IS COVERED BY FORD MOTOR CORP. UNDER THEIR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I DON'T KNOW THE REASON FOR THIS, BUT I WOULD GUESS IT'S BECAUSE FORD FEELS IT WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF REPAIRS WEREN'T MADE BY A CUSTOMER DUE TO COST. WE ARE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS, BUT I WONDER HOW MANY VEHICLES ARE ON THE ROAD THAT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE BUT HAVE GONE UNREPAIRED DUE TO COST. I ALSO WONDER IF THERE HAVE BEEN ENOUGH ISSUES WITH THE SENSORS TO WARRANT A RECALL. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME.

SHE USES A CUSHION TO MAINTAIN FRONT AND SIDE VISION WHILE SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE AIR BAG DOES NOT DETECT HER IN THE SEAT. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE IS NO MODIFICATION POSSIBLE. *JS
