ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION

This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille, 2006-2011 Cadillac DTS, 2006-2014 Chevrolet Impala, and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the weight on the key ring and road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 23, 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), and 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). GM's number for this recall is 14299.

Your car won't start and you notice smoke coming from the engine. The check engine light is on. A mechanic found that the wiring harness has failed and the wires are exposed, which matches a known Chevrolet electrical recall. While driving, your traction control warning light came on with an alert sound, followed by a message that engine power was reduced. Replacing the gas pedal resolved the issue immediately. The problem was likely caused by a faulty accelerator pedal that triggered the engine shutdown safety feature.

You've also had recurring issues with knocking noises under the dash (caused by actuators) and a check engine light related to EVAP and oxygen sensor readings, which may need time to reset after a battery replacement. While driving the car it would pop up a message saying “ENGINE POWER REDUCED”. Today while driving it home it popped up with a message saying “STARTING DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE” and then the car wouldn’t drive and I had to pull over on the side of the road. For months now when I drive and accelerate at times the car would almost grind. I believe it has to do with the traction control or the transmission.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the seat belt warning light illuminated and remained illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the Passenger Presence sensor module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V507000 (Air Bags, Electrical System). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

IMMEDIATELY MY CAR STARTED RUNNING HORRIBLY (IT DIDN'T WANT TO GO, WAS CHUGGING, AND ALMOST FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING). I PARKED IT. LATER I STARTED IT AND ALL WARNINGS WERE GONE, BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. . THE NEXT DAY I STARTED IT AND JUST THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. 3RD DAY I STARTED IT, ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. DROVE IT TO A SHOP,.RIGHT BEFORE I PULLED IN, THE LIGHT TURNED OFF! THEY SCANNED IT ANYWAY & SAID THAT NOTHING CAME UP. THE CAR HAS DRIVEN JUST FINE, NO WARNINGS OR LIGHTS UNTIL 11/25/2020. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 20MPH, TURNED RIGHT ON A SIDE STREET AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL OF THE EXACT MESSAGES AS BEFORE CAME ON. VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY STARTED RUNNING SLOW AND "CHUGGING"AGAIN. I PARKED IT. WHEN I STARTED IT AGAIN LATER, ALL THE SAME MESSAGES WERE STILL THERE. IT'S DEFINITELY SCARY WHEN THIS HAPPENS & SINCE THE 1ST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS NERVOUS TO DRIVE IT FAR BECAUSE I WASN'T SURE WHEN IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. I WENT ON A CHEVROLET FORUM & READ THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I WAS VERY PLEASED ABOUT THAT. I PUT IN MY VIN & IT STATED THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS. SO I CALLED GM THIS MORNING. THE REP SAID THEY'RE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, BUT THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR IT. SHE THEN SAID THAT IT WOULD'VE COVERED BY SPECIAL WARRANTY BUT UNFORTUNATELY THAT WAS UNAVAILABLE AS OF APRIL 2019! HER ADVICE WAS TO TAKE IT TO A CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT CHECKED AND FIXED SOON FOR MY SAFETY! WENT TO MY MECHANIC FOR AN INSPECTION (WHICH I FAILED DUE TO THE AIRBAG) AND HE INFORMED ME TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL. I DID, ONLY TO FIND OUT THE RECALL IS CLOSED AND I CAN'T GET THIS FIXED UNLESS I COME UP WITH A LOT OF MONEY. I EXPLAINED I NEVER GOT ANYTHING FROM THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT THE RECALL. I RETIRED DUE TO HEALTH FIVE YEARS AGO AND UNABLE TO GET ANOTHER CAR. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO KEEP REPAIRING ACTUATORS. I HAVE WRITTEN TO GM AND CALLED ASKING THAT THIS BE MADE INTO SOMETHING THEY WOULD REPAIR NO CHARGE AS I HAVE SINCE TALKED WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK ON THE STREET IN MY COMMUNITY, AND LEFT IT RUNNING WHILE DROPPING SOMETHING IN A MAILBOX. TRIED TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE TO LEAVE, AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT. MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CONSOLE SHIFTER WOULD NOT BUDGE. I WAS FORCED TO LEAVE MY CAR JUST A FEW DOORS AWAY FROM HOME UNTIL THE NEXT DAY WHEN MY SON CAME AND SHOWED ME HOW TO REMOVE THE CONSOLE COVER TO PRESS THE SILVER BUTTON AND RELEASE THE SHIFT. WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE SAME FAULTY ISSUE KEEPS REOCCURRING. LOW QUALITY WIRING AND POSITION AND TAUTNESS GOING INTO THE HARNESS ARE A RECIPE FOR DISASTER. SENSORS CAN BE SET OFF WITH AS LITTLE EFFORT AS GENTLY ROCKING THE CAR, DEFINITELY GOING OFF IF THERE ARE ANY BUMPS OR POTHOLES IN THE ROAD. ALSO HAD OTHER ANNOYING ALTHOUGH LESS DANGEROUS ISSUES: DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS AND HEATING/AC ACTUATOR, CAUSING DOOR LOCKS TO NOT RESPOND AND CAUSING A HORRIBLE CLICKING NOISE IN THE CAR, RESPECTIVELY. I HAVE WALKED AWAY FROM THE CAR THINKING I HAD LOCKED IT ONLY TO FIND ONE OR MORE OF THE DOORS DID NOT LOCK. ACTUALLY HAD ITEMS TAKEN FROM THE CAR. THE CLICKING NOISE FROM UNDER THE DASH WAS SPORADIC, USUALLY UPON STARTING THE CAR, BUT OCCASIONALLY WHILE DRIVING WITH NO NOTICE. THIS EAR SPLITTING, HEADACHE INDUCING NOISE WOULD FOR THE MOST PART STOP AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF DRIVING, BUT WOULD SOMETIMES CONTINUE AFTER THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF AND WOULD DRAIN THE BATTERY. ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR IS ANOTHER REASON THEY SAY, WHICH ALSO DOES NOT FIX THE ISSUE. MY CAR HAS SHUT OFF ON ME GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, ON A HIGHWAY, AND AND OVER A HILL. IT SHUTS DOWN AND SAYS 'STARTING DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE' WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THEY SAY WIRING BUT IT NEVER FIXED ANYTHING.

MY CAR OCCASIONALLY MAKES A TICKING NOISE FROM THE DASH. THIS COMES AND GOES PERIODICALLY. IT STARTS WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR (ANY DOOR) AND CONTINUES FOR ABOUT A MINUTE. IN THE PERIOD WHEN THIS NOISE COMES AND GOES THE DOORS WILL AUTOMATICALLY LOCK, I.E. IF I STEP OUT OF THE CAR (RUNNING OR NOT) AND SHUT THE DOOR IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY LOCK EVEN IF I DID NOT HIT THE LOCK BUTTON AND EVEN IF I DO HIT THE UNLOCK BUTTON. TWICE THIS HAS OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND MY DOG WAS IN THE VEHICLE (ALONG WITH MY PURSE AND KEYS) CAUSING ME MUST DISTRESS. I BELIEVE THIS IS SOMETHING FAULTY IN THE MAKE OF THE CAR. BY THE TIME I GET TO A DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT THE CLICKING HAS STOPPED OR IT IS NOT LOCKING AUTOMATICALLY. THE DEALER SAYS IT HAS TO BE HAPPENING WHILE THE NOISE IS ONGOING. WE WERE EVEN TOLD THAT OUR RENTAL CAR WOULD BE PAID FOR BUT ONCE THEY TOWED THE CAR FROM OUR MECHANIC TO THEIR SHOP, THEY TOLD US THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT, ALTHOUGH DIDN'T COMMUNICATE THAT TO US UNTIL OVER A MONTH HAD GONE BY. SUBSEQUENTLY, AUTONATION TOWED MY CAR BACK TO MY MECHANIC BUT WITH EVEN MORE DAMAGE THAN THEY THEMSELVES STATED HAD BEEN THE SITUATION WITH MY CAR. THEIR OWN MECHANIC STATED BOTH VERBALLY AND IN WRITING (IN THE WORK ORDER) THAT THE RECALLED WIRES SHORTED CAUSING THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR. NO ONE WILL TELL US WHY THAT CHANGED ONCE OUR CAR WAS TOWED TO THEM AS WE WOULD NEVER HAVE TOWED IT TO THEM IF THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE CASE. ADDITIONALLY, NO ONE HAS TOLD US WHY OR WHO THE SOMEONE IS WHO DISAGREED WITH THEIR OWN MECHANIC (AND 3 ADDITIONAL MECHANICS SUBSEQUENTLY) AND MADE THE DETERMINATION THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE SHORT AND RELATED DAMAGES. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED DUE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V507000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). IT STARTED OFF WITH THE LIGHT JUST TURNING ON WHEN I HIT A BUMP OR A ROUGH ROAD BUT NOW EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY IT COMES ON. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THAT AN AIR BAG ISSUES IS THE CUSTOMERS RESPONSIBILITY AFTER MY WARRANTY IS UP HOWEVER THE AIR BAG HAS NEVER DEPLOYED OR THE CAR HAS NEVER GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT SO I AM AT A LOSS AS TO WHY IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIR OF SUCH AN INTEGRAL SAFETY PART OF THE VEHICLE WHICH SHOULD LAST AND FUNCTION WITHOUT ISSUES FOR AT LEAST A LITTLE WHILE IF NOT FOR A LONG TIME AFTER THE INITIAL WARRANTY IS UP. I HAVE NOW SPEND IN THE UPWARDS OF $800 OUT OF POCKET TO TRY AND GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED BUT GM HAS NOT BEEN COOPERATIVE AT ALL. AFTER ABOUT 10 OR 15 MINUTES THE CAR THEN STARTED BACK UP AND THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. THEN LATER IN THE DAY I RETURNED HOME AND TRIED TO LEAVE IN MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START AND HAD NO POWER WHAT SO EVER. THE KEY ALSO WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION AND I JUST HAD THAT RECALL DEALT WITH ON THE KEY. I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN THIS LAST INCIDENT. I COMPLETELY TURNED THE KEY OFF AND SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES. I WAS ABOUT TO CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK WHEN I TRIED AGAIN. THE ENGINE STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE HOME WITH NO ISSUES. BUT ME BEING THE CHEVY LOVER, I JUST SAW IT AS A MINOR ISSUE MAYBE MISSED IN PRODUCTION BUT NOT REALLY A SAFETY HAZARD. THEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER THAT SEEMS TO HAVE WENT AWAY BUT NOW IT TAKES ABOUT 2 MINUTES TO GET THE AC TO SWITCH FROM DEFROST TO BLOWING OUT OF THE DASH VENTS. YOU CAN STILL HEAR IT ON, BUT IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY START BLOWING FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES. STILL, NOT A BIG DEAL. THEN I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 15MPH(NEAR A SCHOOL) WHEN A LOW OIL PRESSURE POWER OFF ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WENT OFF QUICKLY, I PULLED OVER AND CUT THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, NO MORE ISSUES. A FEW DAYS LATER MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON RANDOMLY, HMM, SO IF THAT LIGHT IS ON WILL MY AIR BAGS DEPLOY IF NEEDED? NOT SURE... THE ACTUATORS IN ALL FOUR OF MY ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS HAVE MALFUNCTIONED. THE CAR CAN ONLY BE UNLOCKED MANUALLY, WHICH IS A MAJOR ISSUE SINCE THE DRIVER DOOR IS THE ONLY ONE THAT WILL OPEN FROM OUTSIDE THE CAR WITH A KEY. WE HAVE THREE CHILDREN USING CAR SEATS WHICH MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH ONE OF THE DOORS FROM THE FRONT SEAT, SINCE ONE OF THE SEATS IS REAR FACING (BY LAW). THE CHILDREN ARE NOT CAPABLE OF UNLOCKING THE DOORS ON THEIR OWN OR UNBUCKLING THEIR OWN CAR SEAT RESTRAINTS. IF WE WERE TO NEED TO EVACUATE THE CAR IN AN EMERGENCY, IT WOULD TAKE ENTIRELY TOO LONG FOR ME TO HAVE TO CLIMB AROUND THE BACK SEAT TO TRY AND GET ALL OF MY CHILDREN UNRESTRAINED AND DOORS UNLOCKED. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, I WAS GOING DOWN HILL ON A LOCAL STREET WHEN MY WARNING SYSTEM CAME ON AND INDICATED THAT I HAD REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND TRACTION STABILITY CONTROL ISSUES. AFTER GOING TO THE DEALER, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT MY OIL WAS EXTREMELY LOW, HOWEVER NO LEAKS OR CAUSE WAS EVER FOUND. PRIOR TO THIS, I HAD TO GET MY ACCELERATOR SENSOR REPLACED BECAUSE THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING CAME ON. IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAD TO PAY SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO 'FIX' THE ISSUE. AS RECENTLY AS YESTERDAY, JUNE 16, 2014, I TURNED MY CAR ON AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR OFF AND CHECKED THE OIL. IT WAS LOW BUT NO WARNING LIGHT TO INDICATE THIS ISSUE CAME ON (SAME AS IN THE PAST). I FAITHFULLY GET MY OIL CHANGED EVERY 3,000 MILES OR 3 MONTHS, WHICHEVER IS FIRST. MY OIL LIFE WAS AT 54% YESTERDAY AND I DID TAKE IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE THIS MORNING. IT IS OBVIOUS BASED ON OTHERS EXPERIENCES, THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AMONGST 2009 IMPALA OWNERS. THE REAR POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCK FAILED FIRST, THEN A FEW THOUSAND MILES LATER THE DRIVER SIDE ACTUATOR FAILED. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT BUT WITH A 90%+ OCCURRENCE OF FAILURE. ONE OR BOTH WILL FAIL FOR WEEKS AT A TIME, BUT MAY OCCASIONALLY SURPRISE YOU AND WORK ONCE OR TWICE. THE FAILURE IS IN BOTH THE LOCK AND UNLOCK MODES. THE FAILURE IS UNRELATED TO USING KEYLESS ENTRY OR THE MANUAL SWITCH OR HAVING CHILD SAFETY LOCKS ON OR OFF. IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH THE REAR DOOR TOP MANUAL LATCH POST FROM THE FRONT SEAT. ON ONE OCCASION I WAS TRYING TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FROM THE FRONT SEAT. MY HEAD/NECK BECAME TRAPPED BETWEEN THE SIDE OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND THE DOOR PILLAR. I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE MY NECK UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO REACH THE SEAT ADJUSTING MECHANISM AND MOVE THE SEAT FORWARD. IN THE PROCESS OF THAT I AGGRAVATED A CHRONIC BACK CONDITION PULLING A MUSCLE IN MY BACK. AN INTERNET SEARCH OR DISCUSSION WITH REPAIR SHOPS WILL QUICKLY REVEAL THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE FOR MANY 2008-2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA, TAHOE, MALIBU AND SILVERADO OWNERS. DUE TO THE APPROXIMATE $365 PER DOOR REPAIR COST, THE DEFECTIVE LATCHES ARE NOT BEING REPLACED BY MANY OWNERS. CHEVROLET IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND OFFERS NO REPAIR ASSISTANCE. IN A CRASH SITUATION THE CRASH COMPUTER SEQUENCE CANNOT BE RELIED ON ACTUATE THE DEFECTIVE LOCK ACTUATORS. THE POSITION OF THE MANUAL LOCK POST DOES NOT FACILITATE MANUAL OPERATION WITHOUT EXTREME CONTORTION OF THE BODY. IN A FIRE, CRASH OR EMERGENCY IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO ACCESS CHILDREN OR PASSENGERS FROM THE REAR SEAT FOR EXTRACTION. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED AND DISPLAYED MESSAGES: "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL". THIS WAS THE SECOND INCIDENT. THE FIRST INCIDENT RESULTED IN THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF COMPLETELY AFTER THE SAME INITIAL SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED; LOCKING UP THE STEERING DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC (ESTIMATED 65 MPH, NO INJURES, APPROX. 4 MONTH AGO). OUR MECHANIC CLEANED OUT THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, AND PHONED THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE TROUBLE CODES. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED WARRANTY SERVICE AS THE TROUBLE CODES HAD GONE BY THE TIME THE CAR HAD ARRIVED AT THEIR SHOP, AND WOULD NOT TAKE OUR MECHANIC'S PHONE CONVERSATION AS EVIDENCE. AS I WAS DRIVING TO GOLF ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 24TH, ON INTERSTATE I-80 HEADING WEST, MY 2009 CHEVY IMPALA ONBOARD COMPUTER STATED THE FOLLOWING, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, REDUCED POWER, STARTER DISABLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALL AT ROUGHLY THE SAME TIME. MY CAR COMPLETELY DIED AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST OUT OF HARMS WAY AND GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I CHECKED SOME WIRES UNDER THE HOOD AND DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING LOOSE. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR BACK-UP, THE ONBOARD COMPUTER FLASHED, STARTER DISABLED. I SAT WITH THE CAR FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND TRIED ONCE MORE. THIS TIME IT STARTED AND RAN NORMAL, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIKE WAS ON(STILL IS). HOW SCARY IS THIS REALLY? ENOUGH TO MAKE ME HATE DRIVING THIS CAR ANYWHERE. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY THEN I NOTICED THAT MY CAR'S RPM STARTED BOUNCING UP AND DOWN FROM TWO AND A HALF TO TWO AND BACK AND FORTH AND THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AND SAYS ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED AND AS WELL AS THE SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT TURNS ON. I SEE THAT I HAVE TO PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL A LOT MORE FURTHER DOWN FOR MY CAR TO STAY AT 60 MPH AND AFTER 2 MINUTES OF THIS MY CAR'S RPM DROPS TO 0. MY CAR TURNS OFF WITH THE CAR READING STARTER DISABLED AND SERVICE THROTTLE. I HAD TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER. THIS INCIDENT HAD MADE ME LATE FOR WORK AND THIS INCIDENT HAPPENS A LOT NOW. THIS CAN HAPPEN FROM ONCE EVERY TWO OR THREE WEEKS TO TWICE A WEEK. JUST RECENTLY MY CAR'S SEAT BELTS WILL BECOME UNDONE WITHOUT ANYONE CLICKING THE BUTTON FOR IT TO RELEASE. I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY IMPALA LT WITH FLEX-FUEL. OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS I'VE NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE DASH BOARD (SPEEDOMETER AREA) WILL LOSE POWER AND ALL THE GAUGES WILL GO OUT AS IF THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF. THE TURN SIGNALS DON'T FLASH ON THE DASH EITHER. BUT THE RADIO, INTERIOR/EXTERIOR LIGHTS AROUND THE CAR AND TURN SINGLES WILL ALL WORK FINE. ALSO THERE IS NO NOTICEABLE LOST IN PERFORMANCE. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS OR MINUTES THE PROBLEM WILL CORRECT ITSELF BUT IT MAY HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES IN A TRIP. ALSO I'M HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR TURNING OFF AS SOON AS I OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR AFTER STARTING THE CAR BY REMOTE START. SO I HAVE TO SIT AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR WILL TURN OVER AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FOR ALL FOUR DOORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,700.

TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON 2 LANE ROAD, CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED THEN VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. LIGHTS AND RADIO WORKED BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES VEHICLE CRANKED AND STARTED AND WAS DRIVABLE. TOOK TO CHEVROLET DEALER WHO MADE REPAIRS BY REPLACING 24 TERMINALS. VERBALLY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS CORROSION ON WIRES ON THIS 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH BARELY 60,000 MILES. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON A MULTILANE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SHUTTING DOWN LIKE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS IN HER VEHICLE WENT HAYWIRE. THE LIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF, THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED INTERMITTENTLY, THE HEATING UNIT WAS INOPERABLE, AND THE DOORS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND WOULD NOT START. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO MAKE SEVERAL REPAIRS TO CORRECT THE FAILURES, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. IT WAS LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE AFTERMARKET ALARM SYSTEM WAS WIRED INCORRECTLY AND CAUSED THE ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE DEALER REFUSED TO MAKE REPAIRS AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL GENERAL MOTORS TO SEE IF THEY WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE. GENERAL MOTORS ALLOWED THE DEALER TO MAKE THE REPAIRS, BUT THE NECESSARY PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. THERE WERE 82 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 472.
