VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD
CERTAIN VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 212, "WINDSHIELD MOUNTING." AN INCORRECT PRIMER MAY HAVE BEEN USED WHEN INSTALLING THE WINDSHIELD. THE SAME PRIMER MAY HAVE ALSO BEEN APPLIED TO THE LIFTGATE GLASS AND THE SIDE STATIONARY GLASS.
Fix: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD, THE LIFTGATE GLASS, AND THE SIDE STATIONARY GLASS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 14, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438 OR PONTIAC AT 1-800-620-7668.

Your windshield has hundreds of small marks (tack marks) covering it that make it very difficult to see, especially at night. You also have a large crack on the windshield that continues to spread even during summer months. The windshield will likely need to be replaced to restore visibility and safety.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUMES WERE EMERGING FROM THE DASHBOARD AREA OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO OPEN THE WINDOWS TO AIR OUT THE VEHICLE CABIN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEACON JONES AUTO GROUP (1115 NORTH BRIGHT LEAF BLVD, SMITHFIELD, NC 27577) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET AND HEATER CORE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 212,998.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH AND ACCELERATING, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL GUSHING WATER NOISE EXERTING FROM THE DASHBOARD AREA. THE CHECK ENGINE AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS AND THEN DIMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (DON RINGLER CHEVROLET, 777 S GENERAL BRUCE TEMPLE, TX 70502) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THERMOSTAT AND COOLANT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (DODGE COUNTRY, 1902 E CENTRAL EXPY, KILLEN, TX 76541) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEATER CORE, COOLANT SENSOR, AND B PASS HOSE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED A SECOND TIME. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA AND THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.
I HAVE NO HEAT. THE FAN BLOWS BUT ONLY COLD AIR. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN EQUINOX AND TORRENT MODELS WITH REPAIR COSTS OF OVER $1,000.00. WHY ISN'T GM TAKING RESPONSIBIITY FOR THEIR FAILURES?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFROSTER FAILED TO WORK, WHICH PREVENTED THE CONTACT FROM SEEING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEATING COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FRONT DEFROSTER AND HEATER FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO UNCLOGGED THE RADIATOR BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
HEATER IS BLOWING COLD AIR ONLY. UNABLE TO DEFROST FRONT WINDSHIELD. THIS IS VERY HAZARDOUS, AS MY WINTER DRIVING VISIBILITY IS LIMITED. SUSPECT AIR BLENDER DOOR FAILURE. THIS PROBLEM WAS ADDRESSED BY TSB 11135 (MAY 30, 2012); HOWEVER IT ONLY APPLIES TO 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX. MY CAR IS A 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX. I SPOKE WITH GM AND THEY CONFIRMED THE TSB WAS ONLY FOR THE 2006 MODEL YEAR. MY RESEARCH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE 2007 MODEL YEAR SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED. MY HEATER PARTS MIGHT BE FROM LATE MODEL 2006. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THE HEATER ACTUATOR FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS NO HEAT COMING THROUGH THE VENTS IN HER VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THE HEATER ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE CONTINUOUSLY. THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVEN TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V344000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE) BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL BUZZING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. SHE LATER NOTICED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT MOVE BUT SHE COULD HEAR THE MOTOR OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPER RUNNING. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE FUSE BECAUSE THE MOTOR WOULD NOT SHUT DOWN AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WOULD NOT BUDGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. LEAKAGE IN VEHICLE REAR SPARE TIRE WELL. TRANSFERRED ONTO REAR PASSENGER FLOOR/CARPET. ALL WINDOWS FOGGY FROM INSIDE AND MUST KEEP DEFOGGER ON AT ALL TIMES (EVEN IN HEAT) TO KEEP WINDOWS CLEAR FOR VISIBILITY. MOLD AND MILDEW FROM WATER CAUSING ILLNESS IN FAMILY. *TR
AT 57,000 MILES THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2007 EQUINOX RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A RAIN STORM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. I WOULD LIKE SOME ASSISTANCE FROM GM ON THE REPAIR. *TR
WHEN WEATHER TURNS COLDER THAN APPROXIMATELY 50 DEGREES, WINDOWS BECOME FOGGY. DEFROSTER SET AT HIGHEST FAN SETTING WILL NOT CLEAR FOG FROM WINDOWS. CONSTANT MUSTY SMELL IN VEHICLE, PARTICULARLY WHEN USING AIR CONDITIONING OR DEFROSTER. HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP TO REMEDY APPROX 2 INCHES OF STANDING WATER IN SPARE TIRE WHEEL WELL AND WAS TOLD CAUSE WAS A "PINE NEEDLE STUCK IN THE DRAINAGE HOLE OF THE REAR TAILLIGHT HOUSING"???? I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH WATER LEAKAGE IN THIS VEHICLE. HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND A TSB PERTAINING TO DIAGNOSING WATER LEAKAGE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS ISSUE OF EXCESSIVE FOGGING, AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I FIND THIS RIDICULOUS, AS I EXPERIENCE THE ISSUE DAILY WHEN TEMPERATURES DROP BELOW 50 DEGREES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO ROLL DOWN ALL FOUR WINDOWS BEFORE MAKING ANY TURNS OR CHANGING LANES. WHEN TEMPERATURES DROPPED TO THE 20'S, FOGGING TURNED TO A THIN LAYER OF FROST COVERING ALL WINDOWS. FOGGING TAKES PLACE ON WINDSHIELD, ALL FOUR PASSENGER WINDOWS, AND SIDELIGHT WINDOWS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. SUSPECT ISSUE WITH A SEAL OR BREACH OF FRAME, ETC. WATER HAS GOTTEN INTO AIR CONDITIONING/DEFROST SYSTEM AND IS CAUSING A MOLD PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE REACHES BETWEEN 30-35 DEGREES, THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT DOES NOT DEFOG THE WINDSHIELD. THE FEATURE ONLY WORKS IN 40 DEGREE WEATHER. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IT WAS THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE VEHICLE; THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,800.
