Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2018 GMC Canyon, 2016-2017 Buick Envision, 2016-2018 Chevrolet Colorado and Malibu, 2017-2018 GMC Acadia, 2018 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Equinox, and GMC Terrain vehicles. The high pressure fuel pump may detach from its mounting flange, possibly resulting in the pump damaging the high pressure fuel line.
Risk: A damaged fuel line can create a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the high pressure fuel pump, and high pressure fuel pipe, free of charge. The recall began July 2, 2018. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18188.

Your truck's engine may suddenly shut off without warning due to a defect in the rear crankshaft reluctor ring, which can crack and fall apart as it ages. When this happens, the engine computer loses track of the crankshaft position and won't restart, leaving you stranded. This complainant experienced sudden engine shutdown while towing a trailer on the freeway, which created a dangerous situation. Fixing this issue requires removing the transmission to access and replace the reluctor ring.

Your truck shudders and lurches while driving at highway speeds, suggesting a transmission problem. You've already paid $500 for the recommended transmission flush without improvement, and a shop has quoted $8,000 for a full transmission replacement on a vehicle with only 60,000 miles. This repair typically involves either rebuilding or completely replacing the transmission assembly.

Your truck's transmission isn't shifting smoothly, causing it to lose speed and shutter when you accelerate. You're having difficulty climbing hills, and this is especially dangerous when merging into traffic. This is happening at only 33,000 miles. A transmission inspection and likely a fluid change or transmission rebuild may be needed to address the shifting problem.

Your transmission is leaking fluid, which you discovered just 3 days after purchasing the vehicle from a dealership at 60,000 miles. You weren't informed about this leak before buying the car. The dealership will likely need to inspect the transmission, identify where the leak is coming from, and either reseal the connection or replace internal seals.

Your transmission makes a high-pitched whining noise and shudders when shifting gears, especially around 50 mph. The problem started at 105,000 miles and has gotten worse over time. You had the transmission fluid and filter replaced, which reduced some shuddering but didn't fix the whining noise. The transmission may need further diagnosis or repair beyond a simple fluid change.

You're hearing a loud clunking noise coming from the rear differential when you accelerate from a stop or resume speed after slowing down for a turn. The noise is less noticeable if you coast before accelerating. This is occurring at 35,800 miles on a vehicle that has been regularly serviced at a Chevrolet dealership.

Fuel/propulsion System →2 issues
While driving your truck with windows closed, you smelled strong gasoline fumes entering the cab. You stopped immediately and saw flames coming from under the bed near the left rear wheel, which then spread to the gas tank, creating a significant fire. The Fire Department and insurance company determined the truck was a total loss. This may be related to a known issue where the high-pressure fuel pump can detach from its mounting, potentially damaging the fuel line and causing a leak. Repair would involve replacing the high-pressure fuel pump and fuel line.

Your truck's fuel injector fuse (7.5 amp) has blown twice for unknown reasons, causing a loss of power while driving—once on a country road and once on a highway. Other owners of 2018 Chevrolet Colorados with the 2.8L engine report this as a recurring issue. The fix will likely involve replacing the blown fuse and diagnosing the underlying electrical problem causing the fuse to fail repeatedly, which could be a faulty fuel injector, wiring issue, or engine control module problem.

You purchased a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado from a dealer, but discovered a serious mileage discrepancy when registering the vehicle. The odometer showed approximately 47,000 miles at purchase, but the actual mileage was 162,000 miles. This suggests potential odometer fraud. You should contact the dealer and NHTSA immediately, as this is a legal issue involving vehicle history misrepresentation.

Your touchscreen infotainment system is not responding properly to your touch inputs and randomly activates features on its own, such as tapping apps, putting calls on hold, flipping through pages, and turning on the backup camera while driving. Apple CarPlay is unavailable and you're unable to connect your phone. The issue appears to be a malfunction in the touchscreen's control system that may require a software update or replacement of the infotainment unit.

Electrical System,air Bags,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your car has multiple sensor issues: the fuel gauge reading jumps between 116 miles and 50 miles within minutes, the temperature gauge doesn't warn you about overheating even when the engine runs hot and coolant is low, and the tire pressure sensors don't display correct readings. You're also experiencing acceleration hesitation, a rattling noise from underneath that returns after dealership repairs, a front passenger door that locks and unlocks on its own, and the airbag warning light staying on constantly. These issues likely require sensor replacement, fuel system diagnostics, coolant system inspection, and airbag system testing.

Unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your truck is displaying an "Exhaust Fluid Quality Poor" warning that limits your maximum speed, dropping lower over time. A mechanic diagnosed this as a faulty NOx sensor (Sensor 2) and replaced it, but the warning persists and your speed is now capped at 55 mph with only 64 miles of normal driving remaining. The dealership says additional repairs costing up to $5,000 may not resolve the issue, and GM has provided no known fix for this problem.

Fuel System, Gasoline,engine →1 issue
While driving, your vehicle suddenly lost power and you heard a high-pitched sound from the engine. The check engine light came on, and the vehicle wouldn't restart. A dealer found that the high-pressure fuel pump had cracked and there was a fractured bolt in the cylinder head, both of which were replaced. This happened at 90,369 miles.

Power Train,electrical System,air Bags →1 issue
Your truck has multiple serious issues: the key gets stuck and won't come out when parked, the door locks move up and down while driving, and the transmission is stuck in 3rd gear instead of shifting normally. You're also seeing warning lights for StabiliTrak and traction control, and the exhaust brake and traction control switches aren't responding. These problems likely involve transmission fluid servicing, electrical connector inspection, and control module diagnostics.

Unknown Or Other,engine →1 issue
Your engine is losing power intermittently, with a stability control warning appearing on your dashboard. Initially this happened occasionally and would resolve itself after restarting the vehicle, but now it's occurring constantly and sometimes making the car undriveable. Chevrolet identified this as a factory defect during inspection. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the engine control system, fuel delivery, or ignition components to restore normal power output.

Electrical System,engine →1 issue
Your transmission periodically enters limp mode while driving, displaying low oil pressure warnings and triggering fault codes P2738 and P0700. This happens especially when accelerating or during freeway on/off ramps, forcing you to turn the engine off and restart to reset the system. The issue appears related to a pressure control solenoid valve electrical problem. A mechanic will likely need to diagnose the solenoid valve circuit, check transmission fluid level and condition, and possibly replace the solenoid or repair related wiring.
