2016 Chevrolet Colorado Electrical Problems

While turning into a parking lot the vehicle stalled without warning. All electronics went dead, and vehicle lurched to a stop. After shifting into park the vehicle started normally.

07-01-23 Vehicle died out, wouldn't start, got jumped, still wouldn't start. No indicator lights or warnings. Towed vehicle to the dealership, where it was for 11 1/2 months with the determination it was the ECM and Harness.

There is an electrical issue that causes the truck to completely shut down and lose all power sometimes while driving with do warning. When this happens, power steering and power brakes are lost. This happened to me while turning into a gas station and I nearly wrecked into another vehicle as I couldn't stop or turn.

My 2016 colorado has been having problems turning the key off. I am having to put it in reverse and drive several times to get the key out. I have a case number with gm but have to have diagnostics done on my cost as the warranty ran out a few months back.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Water intrusion to the cab of the truck has structural failure in the roof causing it to leak inside the cab.

Loss of power steering while driving, could cause loss of vehicle control. Issue occurred 3 hours after vehicle purchase and was accompanied by multiple warning lights on dash. Dealer stated they had performed some wiring repair before my purchase, but did not disclose that at time of purchase

It's a known issue that these vehicles have wiring harness chaffing issues in multiple areas. In 2016, a TSB was issued under PIP5416 to address this in 2016 models. It has since been subsequently updated to cover all years through 2021 models under TSB PIP5416B, C, and D because GM failed to acknowledge fix this potentially dangerous and expensive issue.

When shifting into Park and attempting to turn ignition off, the ignition does not fully rotate to the Off position and I’m unable to remove key from ignition. There are several YouTube videos demonstrating this issue with thousands of views, so the problem clearly affects a lot of people. Some videos show where the ignition safety switch solenoid does not properly disengage when placed in Park.

Try to completely shut the truck off but cannot remove the ignition key after putting the truck in park . The ignition key won't release at times, and has been happening for months now. The engine will turn off, but some accessories remain on. Sometimes I can fiddle with the key or the shift lever, but in a worse case I need to disconnect a battery cable, take the key out, and reconnect the battery.

Engine revs high coming to a stop. Required both feet pressed hard on the bakes to emergency stop. Speed control quits working then service-stability control comes on, car starts to handle ackwardly, pulls to left then.

Radio display would start to scroll up and down. Now the display of mileage, oil life percentage remaining, tire air pressure display and other options supposed to be previously available through push buttons located on steering wheel are not able to be accessed.

The vehicle radio and electrical system powered off and reset without known cause and the vehicle engine and electrical system shut down. The vehicle was restarted by placing the vehicle in park and using the key to start normally.

I started my colorado to head home, the weather was clear and cool. The "driver information center" in the instrument cluster flashed that the airbag, anti-theft system, and the traction control system (tcs)/stabilitrak were inoperable. The airbag, tcs, and one other lights were illuminated.
