Your car is displaying a warning code for the driver's side seat belt tensioner. You've found a recall in the NHTSA database for this exact issue on 2002 BMW X5s, but your dealership says the recall doesn't apply to your specific vehicle—even though you have the same year, model, and problem. Your seat belt tensioner may need to be inspected and replaced to ensure the safety system works properly during a crash.

Your seat belt warning light stays on constantly, even when your seat belt is fastened. The light comes on as soon as you start the car, and the problem appears to be on the driver's side. The issue was present when you purchased the vehicle at 91,050 miles. Fixing this will likely involve checking the seat belt sensor or buckle mechanism on the driver's side and replacing any faulty components.
