While reversing out of your garage on ice, your X3 became difficult to steer and skidded into a tree, causing significant damage. No warning lights appeared before the loss of control, and the vehicle was declared a total loss by insurance. You later discovered there's an open NHTSA steering recall (Campaign 25V857000) for your vehicle that wasn't in effect at the time of the crash.

Your power steering failed at just 135 miles, making the steering wheel extremely difficult to turn while you were making a right-hand turn. This significantly compromised your ability to make quick maneuvers to avoid collisions. BMW of Sterling confirmed the issue and replaced the electrical steering box to fix it.

Your new 2026 BMW X3 began pulling to one side on its own within 200 miles, and the problem worsened over several weeks. By late November, your steering wheel wouldn't return to center, resisted turning, and the vehicle pulled sharply to one side while triggering multiple warning messages about steering system failure, stability control issues, and potential rollover risk—making the car unsafe to drive. The dealership has had your vehicle since late November but hasn't provided a diagnosis or repair. A steering system repair or replacement will likely be needed to restore proper vehicle control and safety system function.
