SERVICE BRAKES

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport and 2023-2024 ID.4 vehicles. Certain bolts on the chassis, brake system and/or suspension (such as bolts for certain cross member, engine mount, control arm, subframe, rear brake carrier, etc.) of affected vehicles may not have been correctly tightened during the manufacturing process.

Fix: Dealers will replace the bolts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 25, 2025. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 42HX.

The contact leased a 2024 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard, and there was a loss of pressure on the brake pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle continued to roll but eventually came to a stop. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on three occasions, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and was test-driven, and the dealer determined that the ABS was offline. There were no fault codes retrieved. The contact stated that the brake booster was inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 500.

The contact owns a 2024 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to slow the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to slow immediately. The contact stated that his wife was able to bring the vehicle to a complete stop by pump the brake pedal. The contact stated that while his wife was depressing the brake pedal, the radio volume was not working as designed, the windows were rolling up and down independently, and the headlamps were not functioning as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000.
