When you're stopped at a traffic light or stop sign and press the accelerator to go, your car sometimes doesn't respond for about 5 seconds—it either rolls forward without power or stays still. After you've been pressing the gas pedal hard, the car suddenly accelerates normally. This delay has happened multiple times and could create a dangerous situation in traffic. The issue may involve the fuel delivery system, throttle response, or transmission electronics that need diagnostic testing and reprogramming.

While your wife was slowly pulling into a parking space, your 2022 Venza suddenly accelerated on its own, bolting over a concrete curb and up a hill before hitting a tree. The front right fender was damaged, the passenger door was jammed, and the tire was punctured. Toyota's data showed the accelerator pedal was pressed, but your wife says she didn't press it—you suspect an electrical issue with the power steering system may have caused a false accelerator signal. Resolving this will require a detailed electrical diagnostic of the accelerator pedal sensor and power steering system to determine if there's a voltage anomaly.

Your 2022 Venza sometimes doesn't accelerate when you press the gas pedal after stopping, with a 3-5 second delay before the engine responds — you end up creeping slowly into intersections instead of accelerating normally. This happens during turns where quick acceleration is needed to avoid traffic, creating a safety hazard. No warning lights appear, and the issue occurs sporadically with no clear pattern. The problem may involve the engine's throttle response or transmission shift delay and will likely require dealer diagnostic testing to identify the root cause.

No acceleration from stop, sudden loss of power. I was stopped, coming out of a parking lot, getting ready to do a right turn onto a main road. I let go of the brake pedal, and when I applied pressure to the gas pedal, there was no acceleration, like the engine was stalled.

When driving in slow traffic and pressing the gas pedal, your car sometimes won't accelerate for 3-5 seconds, even though no warning lights appear. This creates a safety risk because other vehicles around you continue moving while yours doesn't respond. Releasing the pedal and pressing again, with sustained pressure for a few seconds, eventually allows the car to accelerate normally. This issue may involve checking the fuel injectors, throttle body, or engine control computer.
