Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2009-2015 Venza vehicles. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) wiring may become damaged with regular use of the driver-side door.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver-side front door wire harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 19, 2021. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 21TB01/21TA01.
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE-INACTIVE
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain models interspersed through model years 2009 through 2013 as follows: model year 2009-2012 Tacoma, 4Runner, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Prius, and RAV4; model year 2009-2010 Avalon, FJ Cruiser, and Highlander Hybrid; model year 2010-2013 model year Corolla, Sienna and Tundra; model year 2009-2013 Highlander and Venza; model year 2012 Prius V; and model year 2010-2012 Sequoia. During modification by SET to include accessories such as leather seat covers, seat heaters or headrest DVD systems, these vehicles may not have had the passenger seat occupant sensing system calibration tested. Without passing the calibration test, the occupant sensing system may not operate as designed.
Fix: Southeast Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will test the sensitivity of the occupant detection sensors, and recalibrate them as necessary. The recall began on March 21, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.

While driving at 65 MPH, your vehicle hydroplaned and you lost steering control, causing it to crash into a concrete median. The front end was damaged, but the airbags did not deploy despite the impact. You also noted that your maintenance light had been on before the crash. The airbag system may need diagnostic testing to determine why the bags didn't activate during the collision.

Water is leaking into your vehicle from the top of the driver's side, where the soft headliner material meets the hard plastic structure that houses the curtain airbag. You're noticing water dripping from the ceiling near the pull-down mirror on the driver's side. This water intrusion could potentially damage the airbag system or electrical components and should be inspected and sealed as soon as possible.

Your Venza's airbag warning light (SRS light) turned on and stayed on after you opened and closed the driver's side door. This happened even though your vehicle was previously inspected for a known airbag recall and passed. The underlying cause hasn't been identified yet, and the dealer hasn't been able to help resolve it.

Your 2009 Toyota Venza is subject to recall 21TB01 for airbags, but the required replacement part has been unavailable for an unreasonable amount of time. You contacted AutoNation Toyota Hayward to schedule the repair, but they confirmed the part is not in stock. The fix will require Toyota to supply and install the recalled airbag component once it becomes available.

Your airbag warning light on the dashboard keeps turning on and off even though you haven't been in a collision. When you have the car scanned, it repeatedly shows an ignition coil B error code even after you've had it repaired. This suggests there may be an electrical issue causing false airbag warnings.

Your sunroof leaks water onto both the right and left sides near the airbags whenever it rains. This happens consistently during wet weather. The repair will likely involve inspecting and resealing the sunroof drain channels or replacing damaged weatherstripping around the sunroof frame.

AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF HAVING THE SRS LIGHT COME ON, IT'S NOW ON ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY REPLACED SEVERAL SENSORS BUT THE LIGHT CAME BACK AND STAYED ON. I'M VERY FRUSTRATED THAT THIS CANNOT BE RESOLVED AND ITS BECOMING A VERY EXPENSIVE SOLUTION.
