Your truck's gas pedal response is delayed and unpredictable—sometimes taking 3-5 seconds to accelerate, while other times the tires chirp unexpectedly. The vehicle occasionally hesitates so long that you've nearly been hit by cross traffic and held up other drivers, even when there's nothing in front of you. This delayed acceleration makes it difficult to safely maneuver away from oncoming traffic. The issue may involve the engine's throttle control system or the forward collision avoidance system interfering with acceleration.

Your 2023 Tundra has an open safety recall for the engine potentially stopping while driving. You're experiencing rough idle, shaking, and throttle lag when starting to drive, making the vehicle feel unsafe. Your dealer said they'll call when a fix is available, but nearly a year has passed without resolution. The engine control system may need to be reprogrammed or serviced once the recall remedy becomes available.

Your engine locked up suddenly, similar to a known recall issue, even though Toyota initially said your truck wasn't affected. Instead of replacing the entire engine block like other affected trucks, Toyota replaced only a short block, which concerns you because metal debris may remain in the turbo lines and could cause future turbo or engine failure. Additionally, your truck lurches and the gas pedal sometimes doesn't respond immediately. A complete turbo system flush and fuel system cleaning may be needed to remove residual metal debris and prevent future engine failure.

Your truck hesitates when you press the gas pedal from a stop, taking more than 2 seconds before it accelerates. This delay makes the vehicle feel sluggish during normal driving and when merging into traffic. The issue is related to how the engine responds to throttle input. Diagnosis may involve checking the fuel system, throttle body, or engine control software.
