While your wife was driving, she heard scraping and shuddering sounds from under the hood, and another driver noticed sparks underneath the vehicle. The hood then caught fire, but your wife was able to safely pull off the road and exit. The fire department extinguished the fire, and the vehicle was deemed a total loss. No warning lights appeared before the fire started.
