Brakes Recalls (1)

RECALLCampaign #00V212000

SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:DISC:ROTOR

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SPORT UTILITY ELECTRIC VEHICLES. THE FRONT DISC BRAKE ROTOR, WHEN EQUIPPED WITH STEEL WHEELS, CAN DEVELOP STRESS FRACTURES IF THE LUG NUTS ARE TIGHTENED WITH EXCESSIVE TORQUE.

Fix: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DISC BRAKE ROTORS. IF THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH STEEL WHEELS, TOYOTA WILL REPLACE THE FRONT DISC BRAKE ROTORS AND STEEL WHEELS WITH NEW DISC BRAKE ROTORS AND NEW ALUMINUM WHEELS. IN ADDITION A CAUTION LABEL THAT READS, "USE NEW GENUINE TOYOTA ALUMINUM WHEELS." WILL BE AFFIXED. VEHICLES ALREADY EQUIPPED WITH ALUMINUM WHEELS WILL ONLY REQUIRE CAUTION LABEL INSTALLATION.

Your mother was involved in a fatal front-end crash, and you're concerned that either sudden unwanted acceleration or a brake failure may have caused the vehicle to hit at unexpectedly high speed. The damage to the engine was severe, and given her clean driving history, you suspect a mechanical issue rather than driver error. A thorough investigation of the brake system and accelerator controls would be needed to determine if either component malfunctioned.

Your car's ABS (anti-lock braking system) activated unexpectedly while you were driving at about 26 mph, which caused you to enter an intersection. This unintended ABS activation affected your ability to control braking as intended. The issue may involve the ABS sensor, pump, or control module and will likely require diagnostic testing to identify the root cause.
