Your driver's seat has been moving backward on its own while you're driving, happening multiple times over several days without you touching any controls. In one case, this caused the seat to move so far back that the driver couldn't reach the brake pedal properly and nearly lost control of the vehicle. The seat would sometimes move all the way to the rear and keep trying to push past where it should stop, and this also happened during startup and shutdown. Fixing this required replacing the entire driver seat control and track assembly.

Your heated steering wheel is producing smoke and becoming extremely hot within 5-10 minutes of being turned on, hot enough to burn your hand and force you to release the wheel. You notice a permanent burn mark on the steering wheel leather, and the problem repeats every time you try to use the heated steering wheel function again. This likely requires replacement of the heating element or electrical harness in the steering wheel assembly.

While driving at 70 mph, your steering wheel stopped responding and your brakes became inoperative, causing the vehicle to decelerate and shut off. Multiple warning lights appeared on the dashboard. A mechanic indicated the issue was engine-related, though the exact cause wasn't diagnosed at the dealership. The repair may involve battery replacement, electrical system diagnostics, or engine inspection to identify the root cause of the steering and brake failure.

Filed: Nov 2022

While driving on the highway the entire dashboard warning system came on all the ADAS and messages saying braking failure to loss of control. This vehicle is not even three months old and is a platinum AWD vehicle fully loaded version. Toyota Dealership never mentions or stated this vehicle had any issues, even today they seem not to know what caused the vehicle to underperform.

Your car's throttle plate froze in cold weather, causing the engine computer to enter limp mode (reduced power), creating a dangerous driving situation. Toyota issued a technical service bulletin with a software fix in 2023, but the update wasn't made available to your vehicle until after it had already failed. Fixing this will likely involve a software update to the engine control module to prevent ice buildup on the throttle plate.

Your 2022 Highlander experiences sluggish acceleration when trying to enter the highway at 35-40 MPH, requiring you to press the pedal to the floor for normal response. The brakes also hesitate and delay stopping by about 20 feet when traveling at 40 MPH, with both issues occurring more frequently in wet and snowy conditions. Additionally, you've noticed a strong burning smell from the radiator area, a metallic rotating sound from the air conditioning vents during heat use, and an abnormal noise from the rear passenger subframe when reversing. Diagnosis will likely require electrical system testing, brake system inspection, and evaluation of the engine cooling and HVAC systems to identify electrical faults or sensor malfunctions.
