While driving my 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE, I lost almost all power to my accelerator and a check engine light appeared on my dash. I came to a stop and stalled the vehicle, once it stalled I turned the engine back on and shifted into reverse a felt and heard a loud clunk noise coming from right under my car and its not only shifting into reverse is the loud noise active but its also shifting into drive from reverse. I scanned my vehicle with a aftermarket scan tool and got 2 exact same codes for "Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Circuit Performance/Stuck Off" and then two more codes for "Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Actuator Stuck On". My torque converter in my CTV transmission failed. I was not at a risk of putting other people or myself in danger but if would have if i was moving faster at the time this happened. I have done my research on the recalls that are active on this vehicle and on the Toyota OEM TIS website there is only 1 recall that was taken care of in 2021 for the fuel pump and then there is a Warranty Enhancement Program for the Flow Shut-off Valve Coolant Leak. I did not find anything on that Toyota TIS website about the CVT recall but when i search my year, make and model on the web, I see that there is a recall for about 3,400 vehicles in the USA and nearly 1,000 in Canada that have a active recall for the CTV. I also saw the recall consequence and it matches up with what happened with my Corolla. I have attempted to contact 5 difference Toyota dealerships in my state to have them help me figure out the issue I am having with my vehicle not being listed in the recall but my CTV just failed. No one has reached back out in the past two days and I am continuing to call almost 3 times a day. I would like some clarity on how I should go about handling this issue.
I got an “engine maintenance requested” notification on my car. I took it to a mechanic and they said the coolant bypass valve is defected
Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Issues/Faulty. No problems prior to “engine maintenance message”. Message only comes up when the A/C is turned on.
I got a “Engine Maintenance Required” warning message. I check with the dealer and upon diagnosis told me about a faulty coolant bypass valve which is a common problem for Toyota RAV4 and Corolla. The Toyota Mechanic mentioned that this should have been a recall issue. The cost to repair was unbelievable considering it will take only a short time to do. BOught the parts and will have it installed somewhere where the labor is cheaper. Since it is a common problem, the manufacturer should recall this issue, replace the faulty part and pay the cost of everything.
The coolant bypass valve failed in my car causing “engine maintenance required” message but no CEL code. Took it to the dealership where they determined failed component and replaced it. The car only had about 71,000 miles and with a engine cooling system failure it could potentially cause further damage.
The alert for the Bypass Coolant Valve came on and cost $800 to replace. As this is a common issue across multiple Toyota models, this should be a recall.
Coolant bypass valve failed
I am up to date with all my maintenance but at 67k miles I had a message stating “Engine Maintenance Required” message on my dashboard. I took it to the dealership and they identified the cooler bypass valve needed to be replace, apparently this is a common issue and has not been addressed by Toyota. Plus it’s difficult to find the part that needs to be replaced. There was no check engine light, and everytime I turned on the AC the engine maintenance required message would pop back up. If this is a known issue Toyota needs to make this issue public and parts available.
I got a “Engine Maintenance Required” warning message. I check with the dealer, the dealer inspected and told me about a faulty coolant bypass valve which the dealership told us a common problem for Toyota RAV4 and Corolla. The dealer did a diagnostic and found that engine coolant bypass valve circuit short to battery - (P268115). They asked me to order the part. A faulty coolant bypass valve risked my vehicle of a failure of the cooling system and so the engine. I had to pay $113.40 for the diagnostic and $331.75 for repair. Since it is a common problem, the manufacturer has to recall and replace the faulty part and pay the cost of the part and labor for replacing the faulty part.
Coolant bypass valve is faulty and a lot of people have had this issue. Toyota is well aware of the faulty part and it affects many models and years of cars. They want to charge 800 bucks for an easy fix. It is robbery and could be a big safety hazard if it causes engine to stall while driving
All of sudden the Engine Maintenance Required sign popped up on the screen during when I was driving. The sign popped up every time I turn on the car. I took the car to Toyota service immediately and diagnostic showed it was Engine coolant bypass valve circuit short to battery or open.
* What failed was engine coolant bypass valve. * Safety was at risk as the failure can lead to engine overheating over time. * it has been reproduced by countless others after their vehicle hits 30k to 70k. *there was a message on the dash about “engine issues and to take to dealer”
Engine coolant bypass valve circuit short to battery or open - code P268115 Engine maintenance alert light appeared after (a day after, and then would not be on, and sometimes turn on, erratic maintenance message) I brought car in for scheduled engine maintenance per Toyota. The Toyota technician advised me to immediately take care of it but does not have the part in stock. This is the Toyota Dealer service in Manhattan Beach, CA.
ENGINE MAINTENANCE CAME ON, TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST SHOWED COOLANT BYPASS VALVE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE AND IF NOT TAKING CARE OF, IT COULD CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD THE PART IS $200 PLUS AND LABOR IS $500 PLUS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE AND FIXED FREE OF CHARGE BY TOYOTA. IN DOING A GOOGLE SEARCH, SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ARE LISTED REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THE GENTLEMAN AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I TOOK MY CAR STATED HE HAS DONE SEVERAL VEHICLES RECENTLY WITH THIS ISSUE. I DON'T THINK USE AS A CUSTOMER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE BY TOYOTA. I'M ALSO STILL WAITING TO GET THE RECALL FIXED ON MY MOTHER'S TOYOTA RAV4 RECALL WHICH I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION ON BACK IN EARLY 2023. THEIR EXCUSE IS NOT PARTS AVAILABLE. SO IN THE MEAN TIME, IF THE VEHICLE CATCHES FIRE, THEY SAY OH WELL. I AM OVER TOYOTA GETTING AWAY WITH THIS.
4 years after production with approx 44k miles the car began displaying the message “engine maintained required visit dealer” after investigating discovered coolant valve was the issue. Problem seems to be a common occurrence with the model car for other owners.
The vehicle began to go up and down in revolutions per minute (RPM) while at a traffic light or stop sign.
Coolant bypass valve failed prior to car driving 50,000, confirmed by dealership. Failure can cause electrical issues. Car indicated engine maintenance required
Motor mounts failed on a 2019 Toyota Corolla. Replaced for an exorbitant amount of money. Never had this happen on any of my cars. Engine was rocking back and forth when acceleration and when I stopped. This could have damaged other components in the car resulting in my safety.
Fuel is not filling up all the way. Fuel has once splashed out when stopped automatically. Used to have around 445 miles per tank, but now around 395. It had started around 59000 miles. I have had the dealership inspect and see if their were engine codes but there weren’t any. The time and care shouldn’t stop just because the check engine light isn't on as it may be a safety or mechanical issue in the future. I would like my car to be looked into as it may be in line with the fuel pump issues on the 2018 Camry, a family member owned one that was recalled for a fuel pump replacement so maybe a Corolla wouldn’t be to uncommon as well to have a know problem from the same company. I present with the utmost respect and hope I can get assistance and guidance on this minor issue as of now. Thank you for taking the time to read. Best Regards, A Toyota Corolla Hatchback Owner.

WE HAVE BEEN NOTICING IT FOR A WHILE KNOW BOTH MY PARTNER AND I THE CAR STALL'S ON OCCASIONS OR DOES NOT REACT WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO ACCELERATE IN THE FREEWAY. CHECKED WITH TOYOTA BUT SAID NO RECALLS BUT THERE IS SOMETHING DEFINITELY NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND UP, THE VEHICLE WOULD SEEM TO REV UP EXCESSIVELY, AS IF THEY HAD A LARGE ENGINE. ON MARCH 2, 2019 I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2019 TOYOTA HATCHBACK FROM TOYOTA OF RICHARDSON. AFTER ONLY OWNING THE CAR FOR 3 WEEKS I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM MY VEHICLE'S ALERT SYSTEM THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON IT. I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS BY THE AUTO DEALER OR BY TOYOTA. THE RECALL WAS DUE TO AN ERROR WITH THE MANUFACTURING OF THE VEHICLE. IN RESEARCHING THIS, I FOUND THAT IN DECEMBER OF 2018 THIS RECALL WAS PUBLICIZED ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB AND WITH NHTSA. THE TORQUE CONVERTERS IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH WHEN THE CAR HAS RAPID ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE COULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING. MY DAUGHTER, WHO IS THE CO-OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER. SHE HAS 4 CHILDREN, IN WHICH ONE IS HANDICAPPED. SHE AND HER CHILDREN HAS BEEN AT RISK WHEN DRIVING AND/OR RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE SINCE THE PURCHASE DATE. SO, FOR 3 WEEKS MY FAMILY WAS AT RISK OF HAVING AN AUTO ACCIDENT DUE TO A MANUFACTURER'S DEFAULT IN WHICH A RECALL WAS ISSUED 3 MONTH PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE! YET THE DEALER DID NOT TAKE THE TIME TO FIX THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO OUR PURCHASE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!
