While parked with your foot on the brake and the car in Drive, your 2026 Corolla Cross suddenly acted like it shifted into Reverse on its own—the rearview camera activated and the car rolled backward. When you tried to brake, your foot didn't stop the car, and shifting gears didn't help either. You had to shift into Park while rolling and turn off the engine to stop it. This is a serious safety issue involving the brake system and/or transmission behavior that needs immediate diagnostic inspection.

Your 2026 Corolla Cross has a loose bolt in the hybrid inverter assembly that Toyota identified in a recall notice. According to the recall, this bolt can loosen and potentially cause your vehicle to lose power or catch fire while driving. Your car has been at the dealership since March 6, 2026 for inspection and repair, but as of late March, Toyota hasn't provided a fix or timeline despite saying a remedy would be available in Q1 2026. The repair will likely involve inspecting and tightening or replacing the bolt in the hybrid powertrain inverter assembly.
