Your car hesitates and jerks when shifting gears, even at low speeds like 20 MPH. You may notice the engine almost stalling and the car shuddering during gear changes, along with an abnormal grinding sound from underneath—but no warning lights appear. A dealer diagnosed this as a transmission problem requiring replacement, or at minimum, torque converter replacement and transmission control module reprogramming.

Filed: Jan 2026

Your transmission shudders when driving between 30-40 MPH and sometimes when accelerating, and you experience hard jolts when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. The problem is caused by a faulty torque converter combined with a software issue in the engine control module. The fix would involve replacing the torque converter and updating the engine control software at a Toyota dealership.

Filed: Dec 2025

Your transmission's torque converter failed at 130,000 miles, requiring an expensive transmission repair. This is a significant mechanical failure that will leave your car undrivable until fixed.

Filed: Oct 2025

Your car's radio, touchscreen, and steering wheel controls aren't working, and you're experiencing severe shuddering in the transmission around 20-25 mph that causes the engine to cut out momentarily. Additionally, your tire pressure warning light stays on even after resetting the sensor and confirming proper tire pressure. No check engine or transmission warning lights appear, making diagnosis difficult. Resolving these issues may require replacement of the infotainment system, transmission diagnostics and potential rebuilding, and tire pressure sensor replacement.
