SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.
Fix: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Prius and Corolla, 2009-2011 Venza, 2006-2010 Avalon, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2005-2011 Sienna and Sequoia, 2006-2011 Tacoma 4x2 and 4x4, Camry, Highlander, Tundra 4x2 and 4x4, and 2007-2011 Rav4 and 4Runner. The affected vehicles may experience compression of the seat cushion which may damage the seat heater wiring.
Fix: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the heaters with copper strand heating elements and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory, free of charge. The recall is expected to began in January 2015. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226.

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, she smelled a burning odor and she saw smoke in the vehicle. The contact stated she also felt heat on her back. The contact stated as she continued to drive, the seat became increasingly warmer. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that she parked and exited the vehicle. The contact stated the seat then cooled down. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving and while the vehicle was parked. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that her VIN was not included in the recall for NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V396000 (SEATS). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised as the dealer. A case was opened. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000
THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT SAY FASTENED IN THE RECEPTACLE. IT COMES OUT WHILE DRIVING.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP THE SEAT GOES BACK AND CLICKS IN. WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE SEAT SLIDES FORWARD. THE ACTION IS REPEATED CONSTANTLY. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AND THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS A WORN TRACK. THEY SAID IT WOULD CAUSE $2054. TO REPAIR AND CHARGED ME $65.16. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM LONGO TOYOTA AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT FOR A WEEK AND HAVE HAD BACKACHES AND HEADACHES. THE SEAT AND HEADREST ARE EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE. THIS IS A TOYOTA CAMRY LE 2009. *TR
DRIVER SEAT STOPS FUNCTIONING UP AND DOWN. TOOK IT TO ROSEVILLE TOYOTA AND THEY DIDN'T REPAIR AND TOLD US IT IS FUNCTIONING NOW. CALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND NO ONE CARES. NOW THE CAMRY HAS 46,000 MILES THEY JUST TOLD ME IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. ALSO TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSED IT AND TOLD ME IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED A SILVER DOLLAR SIZED BURN IN THE SEAT VINYL. SHE WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF A FIRE BUT APPEARED THAT THE SEAT HAD SOMEHOW OVERHEATED AND MELTED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR PROVIDE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,122. UPDATED 11/16/10. *LJ

NUMEROUS CAR SEATS WITH MISSING OR INCOMPLETE TORQUED BOLTS WHERE FOUND AFTER LEAVING THE CAR SEAT ASSEMBLE AREA THE TOYOTA CAMRY IS MANUFACTURED AT THE SUBARU OF INDIANA PLANT.
