ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Toyota Venza, 2023-2025 RAV4 Prime, RAV4, Highlander, GR Corolla, Crown, 2024-2025 Lexus TX, LS, Toyota Tacoma, Grand Highlander, and 2025 Lexus RX, Toyota Crown Signia, Camry, RAV 4 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and 4 Runner vehicles. Due to an error in the instrument panel software at vehicle startup, the instrument panel may fail to display vehicle speed, brake system, and tire pressure warning lights.
Fix: Dealers will update the instrument panel software for non-PHEV vehicles, free of charge. For PHEV vehicles, dealers will inspect the instrument panel assembly, and either replace it, or update the software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed December 5, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB08 and 25TA08. Lexus' numbers for this recall are 25LB05 and 25LA05.

Your 4Runner suddenly accelerated on its own while you were parking, even when you pressed the brake pedal firmly and shifted into reverse. The vehicle continued accelerating backward, hit three other vehicles, crossed a street, and entered a grassy area before shutting off on its own. The airbags did not deploy during the incident. This could involve the electronic throttle control system, brake system sensors, or transmission control module needing diagnosis and potential replacement.

Brakes- when reversing the brakes make loud grinding / squealing noise. I'm worried at times it will give out by not braking. Electrical- my display panel with the reverse camera turns off which at times can cause an accident.

The AC power outlet in your 4Runner's cargo area isn't properly grounded, which means devices plugged into it won't work and could pose a shock or fire hazard. You discovered this when a heated dog mat wouldn't turn on during a road trip, and testing confirmed the ground connection is broken. Even after the dealer replaced the outlet, the problem came back.

Your navigation screen and infotainment system randomly crash and go black for a few seconds when using Apple CarPlay, then restart and disconnect your phone. This has happened 10-20 times while driving, making it disorienting when navigation and audio suddenly cut out. It occurs with multiple iPhones and iOS versions, suggesting the issue is with your vehicle's system rather than your phone. The dealer hasn't been able to reproduce the problem or identify the cause yet, but it may require a software update or replacement of the infotainment control module.
