2019 Subaru Forester Wipers & Visibility Problems

Spontaneous Windshield Crack on Subaru Forester he windshield of our vehicle spontaneously cracked without any apparent cause or visual impact. At the time of the incident, there was no visible debris, rocks, or other potential hazards on the road that could have caused the crack.

The windshield cracked for no reason. There was no collision and there are no marks of any rocks hitting the windshield. Seems to be a manufacturing defect.

Vehicle was stationary in my garage. Ambient was about 65 degrees f. I was attempting to replace the passenger wiper blade.

3 chips in the windshield very quickly and had them repaired. This windshield is a rock magnet and easily chipped. Only had 1 windshield cracked and less than 3 dings repaired with all my other vehicles in over 40 years of driving.

The windshield on my 2019 Subaru Forester is the worst windshield I have seen. In three years, of which I have worked from home half that time and thus limited driving, I had over 8 rock chips, four of which are star cracks. I owned a Hyundai for eight years and never had an issue with that windshield.

Within the first 6 months of purchasing the vehicle the windshield spontaneously cracked on the drivers side. The crack occurred while parked. I was told when replacing the windshield that they were on backorder due to the high number of windshields that needed to be replaced.

In april 2019 less than 6 months after purchasing my 2019 subaru forester I got a rock chip on my way home from work on a 45 MPH road. The auto glass repair shop was already closed so I planned to go the next day for repair. I came out the next morning to my windshield cracked halfway across beyond repair even though it was in the garage overnight.

Parked my vehicle in my driveway with no overhead cover after I returned home from work at approximately 1430 hours on 2/7/20. The ambient temperature at this time was approximately 25 degrees fahrenheit. The vehicles windshield did not have a crack at this time.

Something hit the edge of the windshield and it cracked over half way to the drivers side. My husband was driving it on nb i65 north of mobile, alabama. The windshield had sever pits in it not sure what those were caused by.

Went to a daycare to do a tour at 9am, parked my car and was gone for about 30 minutes and when I came back, there was a large crack (8inches) that starts from the bottom of the middle windshield. There was no indent or nothing that could have caused this.

I purchased my 2019 Forester brand new and have had minimal issues… most are just annoyances. However, this past weekend I got in my car and there was a spontaneous crack through the middle of the windshield. By the second day, it has expanded to halfway or past halfway across.

It did not take more than one week after buying my new 2019 Subaru Forester in November 2019 when the windshield cracked for no reason. Due to the cost I have not replaced the windshield even today. I just read that there is a court case that forces Subaru to replace my windshield but requires me to file with a complaint through the NHTSA.

In June 2020 a rock on the highway hit my windshield and by the time I had arrived at my destination, the crack had grown to over 6 inches in length, so a replacement was required. It was replaced by safelite in July 2020 (limited staff due to COVID).

Windshield cracked around September 10 of 2021. Forward warning went off at times since crack. I had windshield replaced and new windshield cracked 4 months later.

Small rock hit windshield while highway driving and created an impact point in the bottom-center of the windshield, affecting eyesight and requiring a replacement per Subaru dealership.

Yesterday as I was driving home, I heard a “pop” noise & I looked at my front windshield I saw a 6” crack in the lower section of my windshield underneath the left wiper blade. I have approximately 22,000 miles on the vehicle. I got it brand new on 7/3/2019.

Date of incident: 16JUL2021; Mileage at time of incident: 23,202; Driving home from having a recall repair at the dealership, the front windshield cracked with no apparent outside impact. Crack originated in the area where the de-icer for the wipers is located vertically in the middle of the windshield.

While my Subaru forester 2019 was in a parked location, the window spontaneously shattered on upper corner of the passenger side. At the time, the car had less than 15,000 miles on it.

Our car was parked in our driveway, off-street. Went to drive on Sunday July 11th, around noon, and noticed a large crack in the windshield where there WAS NONE the day before (last driving occurrence). There were NO signs of impact, no vandalism (security cameras didn't pick up anyone). No hail in the weather report for the night. The crack seems consistent with other reports of cracks originating at the base of the windshield. It is about 2ft. in length, starts roughly at the base of the passenger side and goes up about 4 inches and towards the driver's side the rest of the way.

The windshield has repeatedly chipped from minimal road debris prompting numerous repairs.

The windshield spontaneously cracked originating from the passenger side to the middle while driving out of a parking lot. Nothing struck the windshield and there was no previous damage.

While driving down the road, with no other cars around, out of nowhere the windshield developed a huge crack starting at the base of the windshield in the middle and traveled upward and across the middle in front of the driver’s line of site obstructing the view. It was very startling. After researching the issue, I discovered it is a known issue and there is a class action lawsuit for this issue. Subaru refuses to acknowledge the issue. 06/21/2019

For the second time in 3 years have large crack in windshield. No known reason for Crack and it is quickly moving across entire windshield.

With about 14,800 miles on my 2019 Subaru Forrester the windshield cracked. I took the Vehicle to Brilliance Subaru, 1500 North Randall Road, Elgin, IL 60123, 224-281-4300 and was told that the crack wasn't covered under my warranty. I know this damage was not caused by any flying debris as the crack started on the bottom of the windshield and there is no chip in the windshield. I have read that many other owners have faced the same situation, as Subaru installed faulty windshields. This should be covered under warranty and the installation and recalibration should be Subaru's expense not the owner of the vehicle.

When I went to get in Forrester in the morning, the windshield has crack. Running from base of drivers side across to passenger side. It was not there night before Because it goes through drives side, it impairs drivers view of road

Windshield with at least 2-ft long cracked line on my 2019 Subaru Forester. Line appeared instantly after something (perhaps a small rock/pebble) hit the windshield. The cracked line is within the sight of vision of the driver. Getting multiple glares from the cracked line when sun light hits it on certain angles. Thus, making driving uneasy during sunny days. Incident happened on 6/18/21 while driving on I-5 southbound in Oregon. I contacted a Safelite Auto Glass shop and was told that the whole windshield needs to be replaced. I made appointment with Safelite to have the windshield replaced when I return back home in Washington state in early July 2021.

I’ve owned the vehicle for 21 months and have fewer than 24,000 miles on the car. During this time, I’ve sustained 2 windshield chips (both were promptly repaired), and now 1 windshield crack. This seems unusual and excessive.

I was sitting at a traffic light and heard a crack. No cars in front or at the time passing me by. I then saw a crack on my passenger side windshield. Upon my research I note there have been several complaints with this manufacturer and model of car. The car will be inspected on Monday.

My car has 24,000 miles on it. A month after I got it, a large crack developed in the windshield and I had to replace it. (Very expensive!) The new windshield has chipped twice and I’ve had to have those repaired. Today I discovered another large crack which will require a new windshield. See picture.) I am aware that there is a class action lawsuit in New Jersey regarding defective windshields for this model (and others). So far, I am averaging one chip and one new windshield every 12,000 miles. That is outrageous! I’m sure Subaru will say that the chips and cracks were caused by road debris, but I am 64 years old and have driven since I was 16. In all that time, I have had to have only one chip repaired until I got my new Subaru. The windshield is clearly too delicate and fragile for the task.

Windshield spontaneously cracked, beginning above and to the right of the rear view mirror and tracking down and to the left. It was about 15-16 inches long when it was first noticed.

A little bit under 15K miles, a now (roughly) 40 inch crack has formed across the windshield that continues to spread. The crack has spontaneously developed and was only discovered when cleaning out the car, which is always parked in a garage. There were no previous signs of a crack or damage to the windshield prior to it forming, nor was it prompted by anything (rocks, debris, etc). As the crack continues to spread, it limits my ability to see while driving. The windshield does require replacement which is not covered under warranty. Through research I've discovered that this is an identified issue, with a few owners going to court and winning their cases.

A very tiny pebble bounced off of our windshield very lightly as we were going 45 MPH. The force of the impact should not have caused any damage to the windshield however it resulted in a 12 inch crack across the windshield.

My forester was parked in an open area with no other cars or people close - The car had just been turned off, and I had gotten out to open the rear gate when to my surprise, without explanation or frankly noise or other evidence of it what caused it to happen, I came back to find my windshield has spontaneously cracked.

I GOT INTO MY CAR (PARKED IN PARKING GARAGE) AND NOTICED THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. I REMEMBER USING THE DEFROSTER THAT MORNING AND DON'T RECALL SEEING A CRACK. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SUBARU OWNERS AS THERE IS A LAWSUIT OUT FOR DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELDS. THERE ARE NO POINTS OF IMPACT. THE CRACK STARTS CLOSE TO THE MIDDLE AND SPREADS UPWARD, NOT HORIZONTAL.

A CRACKED WINDSHIELD THAT IS EXPANDING WITH NO KNOWN CAUSE

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ON A COOL, OCCASIONALLY DRIZZLY EVENING, NOTICED A SHORT VERTICAL CRACK AT BASE OF WINDSHIELD MIDWAY BETWEEN DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. DEFROSTER WAS USED A FEW TIMES TO KEEP WINDSHIELD CLEAR. THERE HAD BEEN NO IMPACT. A FEW DAYS LATER IT HAD GROWN SEVERAL INCHES AND MADE A HARD LEFT TURN. A WEEK LATER WHILE PARKED IN THE SUN, THE CRACK SPREAD ALL ACROSS DRIVER SIDE AND ALSO ADDED A NEW VERTICAL CRACK A FEW INCHES TALL THAT THEN TURNED AND SPREAD TOWARD THE PASSENGER SIDE.

WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM NORMAL ROAD DEBRIS. THIS IS THE SECOND CRACK IN AS MANY MONTHS (NOT DUE TO NEGATIVE DRIVING HABITS). THE WINDSHIELD IS UNABLE TO PROTECT THE VEHICLE FROM ROAD DEBRIS AS IT CRACKS FROM MINIMAL DEBRIS IMPACT AND BECOMES UNSTABLE.

WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE PARKED

WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED TWICE. FIRST TIME WE HAD IT REPLACED ON 12/17/2019 PROBABLY DUE TO A ROCK. 6359 MILES ON VEHICLE. SECOND TIME IT CRACKED ON SEPT. 8, 2020. IT WAS IN A WARM GARAGE AND PULLED OUT ON A COOL MORNING. DRIVEN A MILE ON NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS. CRACK DUE TO COOLER TEMPERATURES OR UNKNOWN. 8,700 MILES AT TIME. THIS CAR IS NOT DRIVEN MUCH. CAN NOT AFFORD TO REPLACE SECOND TIME AT $1400.

SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, MY WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A SMALL CRACK. STARTED IN THE LOWER LEFT DRIVERS SIDE AND QUICKLY SPREAD TO THE IMPAIR MY VISIBILITY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN YAKIMA WA, AND THE INSPECTOR SAID IT WAS A ROCK. WHICH I KNOW IT WASN'T AS I WOULD'VE NOTICED SUCH AN EVENT, THERE WAS NOT AN IMPACT WHICH I'VE WITNESS PLENTY OF, AND AM VERY PROTECTIVE OF MY VEHICLES. THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T COVER IT. I HAD TO TAKE IT TO SAFELIGHT REPAIRS IN YAKIMA WASHINGTON TO HAVE IT REPLACED WHICH TOOK TWO MONTHS TO GET THE NEW WINDSHIELD IN AS THEY WAS A SHORTAGE WHICH WAS EXPLAINED TO ME. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED ON 03MAY2019. I HAVE THE RECEIPT FOR THIS REPLACEMENT AND STILL OWN THE VEHICLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHEN VEHICLE WAS 6 WEEKS OLD

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND HEARD A POP SOUND. THEN NOTICED A CHIP FROM THE WINDSHIELD. I'VE HAD WINDSHIELDS GET CRACKS BEFORE FROM A ROCK IMPACT AND LEAVING A CHIP THEN THE CRACK FORMS. THERE WAS NO IMPACT AND THE WINDSHIELD JUST STARTED TO CRACK. IT WAS COLDER OUTSIDE AND WE WERE RUNNING THE HEATER AND THAT'S IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE DEALER ON BOTH OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,700.

TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY CAR, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED, I TOOK IT TO GET FIXED 3 TIMES AND IT WOULD CONTINUE TO CRACK. I KNOW HOW MY WHOLE WINDSHIELD CRACKED SELL SIDE TO SIDE.

Windshield cracked for no reason. I was driving down the interstate and it cracked. I had it replaced with a new subaru windshield and 2 weeks later the new windshield cracked while driving down the interstate.

WHILE DRIVING I HAVE GOTTEN TWO WINDSHIELD DINGS/CRACKS THAT HAVE BEEN REPAIRED . ANOTHER JUST APPEARED OUT OF NO WHERE. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG AS THIS IS THE SAME AMOUNT AS IN ALMOST 50 YEARS OF DRIVING. NEVER HAD THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH A WINDSHIELD!

THIS VEHICLE WAS SOLD WITH A FRONT WINDSHIELD WHICH I BELIEVE HAS SERIOUS ENGINEERING ISSUES. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 26 MONTHS AGO. LAST WEEK MY WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK, WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 5 IN WASHINGTON STATE, WITHOUT A NOTICEABLE CAUSE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, WITH THE NEXT MOST RECENT OCCURRING IN JUNE 2020. ON THAT OCCASION, SOMETHING HIT MY WINDSHIELD, BUT IT WAS MINUSCULE, CAUSING A NOISE AKIN TO A LIGHT TICK. IT CERTAINLY DID NOT SEEM SUFFICIENT TO CAUSE CRACKING, BUT IT DID. I AM QUITE CONCERNED WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN IF A ROCK LARGE ENOUGH TO CRACK A SAFER WINDSHIELD HITS MY VEHICLE. ANY INFORMATION YOU CAN PROVIDE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED NUMEROUS SUBARU OWNERS COMPLAINING OF DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELDS IN MODEL YEARS FROM 2017 - 2019. COST TO REPLACE WINDSHIELD AND RECALIBRATE EYESIGHT FEATURE EXPECTED TO COST IN EXCESS OF $1,000. SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTACTED AND ADVISED TO TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP TO DETERMINE IF THIS IS DUE TO MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. CASE #1-66770999440

I RAN THE REMOTE START ON MY CAR TO DEFROST IT WHILE IT WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY THIS MORNING. LESS THAN 10 MINUTES LATER I GOT IN AND NOTICED A SMALL CRACK GROWING UP THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK WENT VERTICAL ROUGHLY 9 INCHES THEN CURVED HORIZONTALLY ABOUT FOUR INCHES. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY.

I WAS SITTING IN MY CAR, IT WAS OFF. THE NEXT THING I KNOW, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. NO EXPLANATION, NOTHING HAPPENED, NO CARS DROVE BY, THE CAR WASN'T ON. I HAD JUST GOTTEN IN A FEW MINUTES BEFORE TO LEAVE MY JOB AND WAS ON THE PHONE.

VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT AT MY RESIDENCE. UPON GETTING IN THE VEHICLE I NOTICED A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL STATIONARY. THE CRACK WAS NOT PRESENT THE PREVIOUS DAY, AND THE VEHICLE WAS SECURE FROM ANY FALLING OBJECTS. THE CRACK ORIGINATED FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE CENTER, TRAVELS VERTICALLY UP, TURNS TOWARDS THE DRIVER (LEFT) SIDE, AND TURNS UP. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF AN IMPACT. THE WINDSHIELD APPEARS TO HAVE SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED FROM A DEFECT.

I HAD MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED SUMMER 2020 DUE TO A MAJOR CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. HERE WE ARE IN THE BEGINNING OF 2021 AND I HAVE ANOTHER MAJOR CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD THAT WILL REQUIRE A FULL REPLACEMENT

THE WINDSHIELD GLASS OF MY SUBARU FORESTER 2019 MODEL IS HIGHLY PRONE TO CRACKING. IT IS JUST OVER 10K MILES. IT HAS A 12 INCH CRACK OUT OF NOWHERE. I CANNOT IDENTIFY THE REASON FOR THIS CRACK AS I DID NOT HEAR ANY ROCK-HITTING SOUND WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR. THERE MIGHT BE A ROCK OR OTHER SMALL OBJECT HITTING MY WINDSHIELD. BUT THE SOUND MUST BE TOO GENTLE TO NOTICE.

SPONTANEOUS CRACK ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. STARTED AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER AND PROGRESSED ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD TO THE EDGE OF THE MIDDLE LEFT SIDE.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY AND STONE HIT MY WINDSHIELD, CAUSING IT TO CRACK.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,537.

HAD TO REPLACE WINDSHIELD 2 TIMES IN 15 MONTHS. WINDSHIELD CANNOT WITHSTAND SMALL CHIPS-THEY RESULT IN LARGE CRACKS THAT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. NORMAL DRIVING ON FREEWAY, SURFACE ROADS.

WHEN DEFROSTING MY CAR AFTER A RECENT SNOWSTORM, I NOTICED THAT A CRACK DEVELOPED IN THE WINDSHIELD JUST BELOW THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER. IT APPEARS THAT A SMALL ROCK/PEBBLE HITTING THE WINDSHIELD CAUSED THE CRACK, BUT I DO NOT REMEMBER HEARING A ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD NOT DONE ANY HIGHWAY DRIVING IN THE DAYS PRIOR TO NOTICING THE CRACK EITHER. ATTACHED PHOTOS SHOW THAT THERE WAS ONLY A SMALL CHIP (IE NOT A BIG CRATER) AT THE IMPACT POINT, WHICH SUGGESTS THAT WHATEVER HIT THE WINDSHIELD MAY HAVE BEEN SMALL AND DID SO AT RELATIVELY LOW VELOCITY. GIVEN THAT CRACKED WINDSHIELDS ARE A COMMON ISSUE WITH NEWER SUBARU VEHICLES, I BELIEVE THAT THIS CRACK IS THE RESULT OF POOR QUALITY WINDSHIELD MATERIALS AND/OR POOR WINDSHIELD DESIGN. THE CAR IS ONLY ~2 YEARS OLD, AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HAD ANY SORT OF CHIP/CRACK TO A WINDSHIELD ON ONE OF MY VEHICLES.

WINDSHIELD BROKE WITHIN DAYS OF BUYING THE VEHICLE. NO KNOWN ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD. CRACK FORMED WHILE DRIVING AND HAS BEEN THERE EVER SINCE

PLEASE SEE THE PICTURES ATTACHED BELOW. IT IS A SECOND SUDDEN WINDSHIELD CRACK IN TWO YEARS OF OWNERSHIP! THIS ISSUE IS BECOMING A REAL FRUSTRATION DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY OF THE GLASS AND UNREASONABLY HIGH COST TO REPLACE IT AND RECALIBRATE THE EYE-SIGHT. I AM AWARE THAT THE NEW CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST SUBARU COVERING THE NEW FORESTER SK 2019+ FOR THE SUDDEN WINDSHIELD CRACKS. THAT PROVES THAT I AM NOT ALONE. THE CAR HAS 12600ISH MILES. THERE ARE NO ROCK CHIPS, ETC. THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. IT DIDN'T HAVE ANY WHEN WE PARKED LAST NIGHT AND NOW THERE IS A 6 INCH CRACK COMING FROM THE BOTTOM CENTER. THERE WERE NO INSTANCES OF ROCKS, DRIVING OVER BUMPS, ETC.THE CAR DIDN'T HAVE A CRACK WHEN WE PARKED IT LAST NIGHT AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN DOES TODAY.

I HAVE HAD MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER FOR 18 MONTHS. I HAVE 15,500 MILES AND SUDDENLY MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM THE BOTTOM CENTER TO 13" UP TOWARDS THE DRIVER SIDE. I DO NOT SEE AN IMPACT ON GLASS. NO APPARENT NOISE OF ROCK OR DEBRIS. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 44 DEGREES AND RAINING. I TRAVEL THE SAME ROUTE TO WORK FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS WITH NO APPARENT SIGNS OF CONSTRUCTION OR LOOSE ROAD MATERIAL. I HAVE CONTACTED SUBARU DEALER WITH NO CALL BACK. I HAVE READ SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS OF EMINENT DANGER OF VEHICLE SAFETY FEATURES MALFUNCTIONING DUE TO A FRACTURE LIKE THIS. NOT TO MENTION MY OWN LINE OF SIGHT THAT COULD BE IMPAIRED.

MY FORESTER HAVE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT ANY REASON. NO STONE HITTING NO CHIPS. JUST BROKEN WHILE IT'S PARKED. IT'S DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

STARTED CAR ON A COLD MORNING, TURNED ON DEFROSTER AND WENT INSIDE GOT BACK IN CAR STARTED TO BACK OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED A HUGE CRACK STARTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEED THE BOTTOM OF THE WIPER BLADE. AS I DROVE THE CRACK GOT WORSE NOW IT IS HALFWAY ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE FIRST CRACK APPEARED

WINDSHIELD WAS STRUCK BY A SMALL ROCK WHILE GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS (DRIVER DID NOT SEE THE ROCK), CAUSING A 2 MM ROUGH CHIP IN THE WINDSHIELD AND A 1 CM CRACK ON THE OUTSIDE AND ANOTHER 1 CM CRACK ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD.

MY 2019 FORESTER WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED FROM THE VERY TOP TO MID WAY DOWN. I NOTICED THE CRACK WHEN GOING TO MY CAR FOR WORK IN THE MORNING.

OEM WINDSHIELD SEEM TO BE VERY THIN CRACKED EASILY AND CRACK GOT BIGGER OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS HAD TO GET WINDSHIELD REPLACED OUT OF POCKET.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,500.

WINDSHIELD CHIP FOR NO APPARENT REASON ON RURAL ROAD

MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED DUE TO COLD WEATHER, WHILE STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY, WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS CHIPS OR IMPACTS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK IF A REPLACEMENT WAS COVERED, AND WAS TOLD 'NOT A CHANCE. THAT JUST HAPPENS TO THOSE CARS.' UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH, I'VE FOUND OTHER 2019 FORRESTER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME WINDSHIELD PROBLEMS, AND HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME CUSTOMER SERVICE. A WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT SPONTANEOUSLY CRACK JUST BECAUSE IT'S COLD OUTSIDE.

I HAVE HAD 2 WINDSHIELDS CRACK ON ME DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE CRACKS ARE VIOLENT AND SUDDEN. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY SUBARUS MANY MILES BUT THE 2019 FORESTER IS VERY SENSITIVE TO INHERENT STRESS IN THE GLASS

WHILE DRIVING AND STATIONARY. AT LEAST 4 CHIPS IN WINDSHIELD. 1 CRACK THAT OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN AN ENCLOSED GARAGE AT BETWEEN 55-65. INSURANCE FILLED INITIAL 2 CHIPS, BUT REFUSED TO FILL OTHERS OR REPAIR CRACK WITHOUT FILING A CLAIM THAT REQUIRES ME PAYING THE DEDUCTIBLE.

THE VEHICLE HAS 16000 MILES ON IT AND IVE HAD TO 2 WINDSHIELDS CRACK IN 3 MONTHS TIME. THE FIRST SPREAD WITHING 5 MINUTES. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED BY MY INSURANCE. THE SECOND HAPPENED TODAY AND MY INSURANCE WILL NOT PAY FOR. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS NO FAULT. BOTH CAUSED IN THE SAME LOCATION LOWER WINSHIELD, CAUSED BY MINOR HIGHWAY DEBRIS. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS AND NEVER HAD A WIND SHIELD SO WEAK! BOTH TIMES CAR WAS IN MOTION. I CAN PROVIDE PIC OF SECOND INCIDENT BUT THE FIRST WAS AT LEAST 14 INCHES WIDE AFTER SPREADING.

THERE WAS A MILDLY HOT DAY IN REVERE MA IN 10/24 ALMOST 80 AND GOT COLD AT NIGHT AROUND 40. NEXT DAY WE GET IN THE VEHICLE AND NOTICE SOMETHING LIKE A CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD BUT AT THE MOMENT WE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST DIRT. IN 10/27 WE NOTICE THAT IT WAS A REAL CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD WHEN CLEANING THE VEHICLE, RIGHT WHERE THE DEFROSTER BLOWS. CRACK IS DEFINITELY NOT DUE FROM ROAD DEBRIS, NOT ROCK CHIPS AROUND THE CRACK AT ALL.

TONIGHT I GOT A ROCK CHIP ALMOST THE SIZE OF A QUARTER WITH NO CAR AROUND EITHER FRONT OR BACK FOR AT LEAST 5 CAR LENGTHS! WITHIN 10 MINUTES ALMOST SPLIT HALF WAY ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD. ITS INSANE. SO NOW MY INSURANCE GETS TO REPLACE YET ANOTHER WINDSHIELD AND PAY FOR THE EYESIGHT TO BE RECALIBRATED, AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD A SMALL PEBBLE HIT MY WINDSHIELD CAUSING IT THE CREATE A SMALL CRACK. I HAD TO GET IT FILLED SINCE TO REPLACE TO WINDSHIELD WOULD REQUIRE CALIBRATING THE EYE SIGHT SENORS. OTHER NORMAL DERBIES HAVE HIT MY CAR ON THE ROADS TO AND HAS CAUSED ALOT OF SCRATCHING ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD SEEMS TO BE VERY THIN OR NOT THAT STRONG. WHEN THINGS TO DO HIT THE WINDSHIELD I DON'T GET THE SAME FEELING OF SAFETY I DO IN OTHER CARS. I GET THE FEELING THE WINDSHIELD WONT HOLD UP TO ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT BASED ON HOW FRAGILE IT FEELS AND SOUNDS WHEN THINGS HIT IT.

SOMETHING WENT VERY WRONG IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THE WINDSHIELD. WITHIN THE FIRST 2 MONTHS, I NOTICE VERY SMALL DEFECTS (SMALL, PINPOINT SIZED FRACTURES) IN THE WINDSHIELD. NOW, I HAVE A 20 INCH CRACK THAT GROWS 1 INCH EVERY DAY.

WINDSHIELD SEEMINGLY CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY (NO OBSERVED IMPACT WITH PROJECTILE LIKE A STONE). VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT MODERATE SPEED (~45 MPH) WHEN CRACK "POPPED". NO IMPACT FROM PROJECTILE WAS HEARD.

WINDSHIELD CRACKED, ABOUT 12" LONG, FROM THE BOTTOM UP INTO THE VIEWING AREA WHILE SITTING IN A DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT.

WHEN DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY A PEA SIZED PEBBLE STRUCK THE VERY TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD, WHERE IT ADJOINS THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY A 16 INCH CRACK APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD. THE PEBBLE WAS SO SMALL, A NORMAL WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT HAVE CRACKED. I BELIEVE THE WINDSHIELD IS DEFECTIVE. IT WILL COST OVER $1200 TO REPLACE.

PARKED VEHICLE IN GARAGE. TWO DAYS LATER, FOUND A 2 FOOT CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. I SEE NO PLACE ALONG THE CRACK WHERE AN OBJECT MIGHT HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD.

WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM AN UNKNOWN REASON. NOTHING WAS HEARD OR SEEN TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD. WINDOW CRACKED ALMOST THREE FEET ACROSS

TODAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME, THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY DEVELOPED A CRACK WITHOUT ANY PERCEPTIBLE IMPACT.

WINDSHIELD CRACKED HORIZONTALLY OVERNIGHT AND EXPANDED FROM PASSENGER'S TO OF THE WINDSHIELD TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. NO APPARENTLY REASON FOR THE CRACK DUE TO ANY IMPACT IN THE WAY THAT A NORMAL SAFE AUTO GLASS SHOULD HAVE (SEE PICS). MANY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER'S OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME INCIDENT.

RECEIVED A SMALL CHIP IN WINDSHIELD (APPROX1/16") FROM A WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A TINY TINY PEBBLE, ABOUT A WEEK LATER LEFT CAR OUT ALL DAY IN THE SUN. WHEN I APPROACHED THE CAR, I NOTICED MY 1/16" CHIP TURNED INTO A 15" CRACK. I.E ONE DAY IN THE SUN TURNED A 1/16" CHIP INTO A 15" CRACK.

THE WINDSHIELD SEEMS TO BE EXCEEDINGLY WEAK. IN THE LITTLE OVER A YEAR OF OWNING THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD 2 CRACKS IN MY WINDSHIELD AND 3 CHIPS . THESE HAVE OCCURRED ON A HEAVILY TRAFFICKED HIGHWAY THAT IS CLEAR OF DEBRIS . I HAVE OWNED OLDER SUBARUS BEFORE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A WINDSHIELD CRACK OR CHIP.

WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET AND WINDSHIELD CRACKED VERY EASILY FROM A SMALL ROCK

THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2019, AND A FEW MONTHS LATER THE WINDSHIELD JUST CRACKED, WITHOUT BEING HIT BY ANYTHING. THIS KIND OF WINDSHIELD HAS THE VISION SENSORS ATTACHED. WE TRIED TO FIX THE CRACK BUT THE FIX DID NOT HOLD, SO THE CRACK HAS EXTENDED TO AT LEAST 15 INCHES LONG.

CRACK IN WINDSHIELD APPEARED OUT OF SEEMINGLY OUT OF NOWHERE - CAR WAS PARKED IN GARAGE, THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO CRACK THE GLASS.

Compare to my previous 2016 subaru forester. This 2019 subaru forester is very easy to get chip in the same route of going to work from home.

While driving on a freeway, our windshield started cracking, we didn't hear anything strike windshield, but assumed it was a pebble. We had it replaced at dealership. One month later, a pebble did make a ding on windshield while driving on freeway.

I have a second cracked windshield on my forester, which I have owned for 19 months, and has just over 23,000 miles on the odometer. In both cases, I noticed the cracks after going out to start the car in the morning.

This is the second time in a year that our 2019 forester's windshield has suddenly cracked without being struck. In may a small rock from highway driving nicked the windshield of my car, putting a small scratch in the glass. Within hours the scratch had spread into a major crack spanning 3 feet across the windshield. I had a glass warrantee on the car from the dealer, which the dealer declined to honor because the crack was greater than 12 inches, although starting out as only a nick.

08/16/19 I was driving down the interstate at 70mph, I heard a very faint "tink" and saw a 1 inch crack on the lower passenger side near the outer edge. Husband was driving home after graveyard work shift, with no other cars on the highway, when he heard a crack. He noticed a crack coming from under the windshield wipers in the middle of the front windshield, closer to the driver side. He did have the defroster on.

I purchased my 2019 subaru forester sport on friday, 4/19/19. On saturday, 4/20/19 I was driving on the interstate in the right lane with a pickup truck pulling a trailer ahead and in the lane to my left. I did not see anything, but heard a crack and my windshield cracked from the top just a few inches from center toward the passenger side down towards the center of the windshield.

Front windshield has numerous rock chips, quality of the glass is not up to par and I'm afraid that cracks will start to form soon. Please investigate as subaru needs to be aware that the current glass needs to be replaced with a durable glass and be able to resist everyday hits from small debris on the freeway.

While driving a slight noise was heard followed by the appearance of a horizontal crack which spread to approximately 15". Vehicle was in motion on a us highway. Both safelite and the local subaru dealer have advised that replacement glass is on hold / national backorder.

When driving on the local road, I heard a loud snap from my windshield but forgot about that when I got home. The next morning I noticed a crack at the bottom of the windshield glass. Today that crack extended by several inches.

While driving on the freeway, there were some bumps on the road and suddenly a crackling noise and a vertical crack developed on the driver side windshield. The cracked run from the upper right corner towards the bottom of the windshiled.

I started my car and turned on the windshield wipers and fluid to clear the windshield. Within a few seconds of wiping the windshield, I heard a pop and a crack directly down the center of the windshield starting at the top developed along the line of the eyesight system and rearview mirror mount.

On 6-11-23, while parked in a private driveway, the front windshield of our 2019 Subaru Forester spontaneously cracked. This 20-inch crack ran diagonally from the upper left corner down toward the center of the dashboard. We are not aware of any impact that may have caused such a crack.

Windshield has developed a 14 inch crack from HVAC unit on bottom of windshield. Replacement windshield also developed a 20in horizontal crack.

Windshield cracked for no reason. I was sitting next to the car for 2 hours, when I arrived at location windshield was perfect, when I got in to leave it was cracked. I never was more than 10 feet from car and nothing hit it.

Since purchasing the vehicle in December 2018, we have had to replace the windshield twice, and there is a crack in the current windshield which I am speaking to the insurer about tomorrow. The windshield on my 2019 Subaru has cracked for the second time. This has taken away many of the safety features that comes with the car due to the cameras not working properly or not at all. This second time it cracked its cost me money through my insurance company.

I was sitting in park w/AC on and heard a crack looked up, initially saw nothing a few minutes later I saw a crack that has continued to spread.

While the vehicle was parked in a driveway, the windshield developed a 10 inch crack in an upside down "J" shape, originating from the bottom edge of the windshield. There were no debris impacts in this area of the windshield and no "pitting" is visible that would have compromised the structural integrity of the windshield.

Windshield cracks very easily. It has cracked on my 2019 Subaru Forester Premium trim two times in the last two years. This is just from the normal debris flying off the road.

I have owned my certified pre-owned 2019 Subaru Forester for less than a year, with under 30K miles. Within the last 2 months I’ve gotten a crack and a chip in two different areas of my windshield. Nothing out of the norm happened to cause this.

Yesterday, when we got into the car (2019 Subaru Forester) we noticed a large crack in the windshield. It started near the edge where the glass meets the frame, and went down and curved towards the driver side. If it were a straight line, it would be at least 10 inches.

Small rock strike on interstate caused cracked windshield. Second on this vehicle since purchased new.

Numerous small chips throughout normal driving conditions. Mostly pitting. However one rock chip (starburst) received from opposite lane traffic.

A pebble struck the lower right corner of the windshield which precipitated a long crack going one-third of the way across the windshield. I have had many rocks hit my windshield in other vehicles and not once have they started a crack across the whole windshield. In contacting Subaru of Surprise service center, they notified me of a two month backlog order for a replacement windshield.

When I entered my car on Monday 9-13-21 to go to store found a cracked in the windshield start from the top corner to the middle where the eyesight is located towards the middle and formed a J . I first noticed a small nick in the front windshield on the driver's side back in february 2020. In june of 2020, it turned into a crack that runs 1/2 the length of the windshield. I've attached pictures of the nick and crack.

I was driving on the highway and next thing I knew there was a huge crack that formed across my windshield. I didn't see or hear anything and then saw the crack spiral. When I looked there was an extremely small chip in the black area of the bottom of the windshield.

Driving down the freeway I noticed a small pebble, no bigger than the very tip of my pinky finger coming towards my drivers side windshield. It hit the upper part of my driver-side windshield. Upon impact there was no noticeable damage.

Windshield is fragile. The window shield had rock chip in the first month I got the car. After 1 year, I got another rock chip that cracked it so bad, a hug line runs across the windshield.

Windshield cracked starting on driver's side and extended over a foot to the middle. No impact from rock or other road debris occurred when crack started.

A few weeks after purchasing my brand new 2019 subaru forester, I was driving on the expressway when all of a sudden my windshield cracked. There was no rock or any debris that flew towards my windshield. The crack started near the top of the windshield on the passenger side and angled down and toward the driver's side.

I have driven my car infrequently if at all for the past few weeks as the country has been sheltering at home - this is probably the least amount of stress any car has ever been put under. The last time I used my car was over a week ago and otherwise it's been sitting in my apartment's small, outdoor parking lot doing nothing at all.

I left my car in the garage perfect and the next day I notice the windshield was cracked. It happened over night and without any explanation.

Windshield is defective and easily damaged. First damaged occurred on november 24, 2019 with 4501 miles driven. A small pebble struck the windshield resulting in a small star burst crack while the car was in motion.

The windshield on this vehicle has cracked 3 times in 9 months. Any time any sort of small pebble hits the windshield, it cracks. Most recent small crack spread for about 12 inches almost instantly.

Was driving and heard a crack. No stone or object hit the windshield. didn't see anything.

While traveling at approximately 70 MPH on an interstate with little to no traffic for approximately 1/4 mile ahead or behind my vehicle the windshield spontaneously cracked from the bottom of the windshield, near the center of the windshield, vertically towards the top and then turned horizontal. A severely cracked windshield developed overnight while car was stationary in owners driveway. The crack was in the form of a spider web with no evidence of impact of any kind. The area of the cracked windshield was perfectly smooth, with no deformation from any kind of impact.

I was driving up a hill on a bypass and a work truck kicked up a rock that hit me windshield, nothing happened then, I checked hours later and it turned into a small crack, a few days later that small crack turned into a big crack that grew the entire windshield and is in field of vision

On 2/9/19 about 5pm after car was parked in garage for about an hour I noticed a large crack on the windshield about 20 inches long on front passenger side. I had just come back driving on the highway and didn't hear anything hit my windshield nor did I notice a crack in my windshield. We were driving on a paved road with no other cars around and the windshield spontaneously developed a 12 inch crack coming up from very low on the drivers side of the windshield. It was approximately 65 degrees outside and we did not have either the heater or a/c running. Over the next 24 hours the crack increased to about 24 inches.

I purchased a 2019 subaru forester in mid-july and have had to replace two windshields due to cracking. The first replacement was in september due to a rock hitting the windshield on the far right passenger side. The chip quickly developed into an 18' crack.

Was driving on highway to work, the windshield suddenly cracked, out of nowhere, no rock chip, no impact from outside. It's a 3 months old forester 2019 with ~5000 miles on it. Really disappointed with the quality of the glass.

Just yesterday my subaru experienced an inexplicable sudden windshield fracture. The car was parked in my driveway warming up and I turned on the front defroster and suddenly, from the bottom center of the windshield, a giant crack appeared out of nowhere. My forester currently has 7600 miles on it and a rock/stone has never struck my windshield.

Windshield cracked while driving on a bay bridge 1 month after we got our new subaru forester. There were no cars in front and no signs of any objects hitting the glass. I was driving on the highway in colorado and was a good distance from the cars ahead of me when a rock chipped my windshield. Within 5 minutes the chip had cracked across the glass.

Winshield has cracked twice on a 2019 subaru forrester. Either the angle of the windshield, or the quality of the glass is a very poor design. I think this should be investigated, because I'm sure this will become a common problem.

I was driving on highway and did not hear a rock or any object hit windshield. When I arrived home I noticed a crack in windshield beginning at deicer of windshield up to 25% upwards from the bottom of the windshield. The window appears to be brittle and subaru previously had same issue with 2016 outbacks.

In the last two months I have had two windshields spontaneously fracture one while driving the car the other when garaged.

On the 10th of july while stopped at a red light, I watched a crack come down from about 4 inches from the top of the passenger side windshield, to down just below the rear view mirror height and then continue all the way over to my side (drivers side). A sound of something hitting the windshield was never heard!

I was driving on the local highway in greensboro sunday june 16th, when a small pebble flew up from the road hitting the windshield and causing a large crack running across the passenger side of the vehicle. This occurred in my brand new vehicle that we had only had for three weeks at the time.

600 miles on new car. I was driving on local street less than 45mph and a small pebble kicked up and chipped my windshield. This shouldn't have happened so easily because I've had cars for years and never experienced a windshield chip so easily.

On 5/12/2019, a 6-inch crack appeared in the windshield after the car sat in a driveway for approximately three hours. It was in a rural area with no trees overhead. There was no sign of a chip or dent precipitating the crack, nor do I (the driver) recall hearing anything hit the windshield recently.

A crack has developed in windshield. It appears to have begun below the wiper blade on the passenger side of the car. And is traveling horizontally across to the driver's side of the windshield, in the sight line of the driver..

New car - 3 weeks old and a 1,000 miles. Driving to work on a route I've taken for 5 years. I was traveling at 60 MPH on I-195 on a rainy morning, and I heard what sounded like a small rock hit the windshiled but I couldn't see any damage.

Windshield cracked from a small pebble after having the car for 5 days. I was driving on a city street, traveling less than 40 MPH when a pebble hit the driver's side edge of the windshield. The windshield should be able to withstand pebbles being thrown up from the road.

Windshield broke

Had car only three months. Now in addition to a chip there is a gigantic crack in the windshield that will require an expensive oem replacement.

Driving on a 3 hour drive home going 65mph I got small rocks hit the windshield at two different times and immediately cracked the windshield. I was going 45mph on one and 65mph on the other. Seems to be a bad design or just bad windshields.

Within this vehicle's first 500 miles some wind whipped up sand particles on the highway, I heard a "pop pop pop" and when I got out noticed three small chips on the windshield. I have had cars for thousands and thousands of miles and never a chip. I am now fearful of taking this car on gravel roads which is why I purchased it.
