2016 Nissan Rogue Other Problems

Your transmission started violently shaking, jerking, and hesitating before stopping working completely. Your dealer recommended replacing the entire transmission. You discovered that some transmissions in your model year have a recall with vouchers available to cover the repair.

I recently was notified that my vehicle has a factory recall for the jackknife key. So I brought it to my local Nissan dealership and they said they would fix the recall. After checking out my key and car the dealership said I would have to buy a brand new key which was around $300 dollars.

I am writing because I received a letter stating that this would be resolve and new parts would be available by Spring or June 2022. This has not happened yet, and it is August 2022. I would like to know when new parts are going to be available for repair.

I purchased my used car 2016 Nissan Rogue from STG AUTO DEALER address 10325 Central Ave Montclair Ca 91763. phone 855-637-1975. engine shakes when AC is on.

My sunroof exploded while I was driving on the interstate at approx. Nothing hit it, it just exploded.

Sunroof tempered glass exploded while at a stop light, nothing above me but blue skies. This appears to be a defect of some kind.

When shutting the front passenger door the sunroof exploded. Nissan would not cover it under warranty because they said the sunroof must have previously been damaged. It is on top of the car, nearly impossible to be damaged by any debris from road since it would either hit the windshield or fly over the vehicle, so how was it damaged?

On 8/28/2017, I was driving on california rt. 395 south while the rental car I was in, nissan rogue 2016, went off highway into the desert on a speed 65mph. I ended up injured, with broken vertebra, and currently on long term disability.

As I was driving on the highway, I heard a loud pop, like a gunshot and suddenly the glass from my sunroof was falling on me. I had a hole in the sunroof and the glass was falling on me while driving. Nothing hit my car, it just exploded randomly- I had no idea what happened.

We have had 2 parking lot fender benders within 3 months due to the fact that nissan's rear view monitoring system's use of a backup camera is so complicated to use and its blind spot monitoring does not function under 20 miles per hour speed that I don't think they should have been approved as a feature on this car.

I was driving down the road and suddenly my back right passenger window imploded, it sounded like a gunshot going off it was so loud and sudden. There had been no previous damage to the window and I was on a completely paved road with no construction or other vehicles near for anything to have hit the window.

Follow up from Nissan district regional manager was the same as the Nissan dealership. They refuse to help and have zero issues sending people off onto the road with an unsafe vehicle that can stall or stop at any time.

On July 14th of this year, I was driving my vehicle on the highway when it abruptly accelerated without me changing my pressure on the gas pedal. The check engine light then turned on, which prompted me to have my car inspected as soon as I could. I did not have an appointment until July 20th and was unable to use my vehicle until then.

2016 nissan rogue 2 years old, and transmission slipped already. I have quite a few miles, but spoke to multiple repair men who have said the rogue is known for that and I bought a lemon car. When I drive and press pedal the car has no power and RPM keeps going up/ down also you can hear a whining in the car .

My check engine light came on spring of 2025 and my Rogue was losing speed from 80mph to 50mph on the intersate with the RPM's shooting up to 5-6. On 5/30/2025, I paid $800 to get the intake manifold sensor replaced. A few months later in October of 2025, engine light came back on and was having the same issue on the interstate.

The sunroom leaks in all 2016 rogue models and Nissan refuses to help out the customers who are affected by this. I’ve done my research and I’m not the only person who has had problems when trying to deal with Nissan directly

Rear hatchback power strut/ shocks. Hatch will go up entire way but comes back down automatically, hitting my head , therefore I do not use hatch compartment because of safety issues. Nissan dealer states needs new struts and to check to see if recalled due to fact should have lasted life of vehicle

I am back at the Nissan dealer to fix a recall but also to express my continued concerns regarding the clunking noise that I keep hearing when I accelerate. A year ago I was told by this same Nissan dealer that it was part of the transmission and there was nothing that they could do for me.

A transmission issue with my vehicle first occurred on the highway. I purchased the vehicle in 2021 from Carvana who stated all open recalls had been taken care of. When I took the car into the dealership for the transmission issue, Nissan said the recall expired a couple months ago and would not honor the expired class action lawsuit.

My car key fob is in perfect working conditions with no defect. I was told by a person my key fob, would ve deactivated if it wasn't repaired. My fob work just fine, and my bigger concern is that my alarm with locking my car is associated with my fob.

Driving on Highway 65-68 MPH, RPMs rose drastically (4-5 RPMS) and gas pedal did not operate. Slowed to side of road, shut car off. Waited on side of road approximately 3-4 minutes restarted car and drove to home.

The transmission in my 2016 Nissan rogue with only 78,500 miles on it has gone out and will have to be replaced

We have a Recall on our vehicle since January and we are needing this to be resolved asap. On your website it says remedy unknown and we would like to know when it will be fixed.

The SUV jerks, loses power and the brake pedal squeaks, sometimes it smells of burning.

I have been notified of an open recall on my vehicle, I took it to the dealership to be repaired. But there are no repairs available for this recall at this time.

As reported now for 3 years that my heat does not work. It’s unsafe and I can not have my children in these cold conditions. I love my rouge but the lack of help repairing this heat issue is ridiculous.

My 2016 Nissan Rogue began jerking on our way home from vacation. It was shaking and and jerking we got so scared it kept bumping us and jerking us we actually had to pull over off the freeway luckily we were near an O' reily's they told us it was the CVT transmission we ended up calling a tow truck to get us as we were soo scared to keep driving.

A/C DOES NOT WORK. THERE IS A ROARING SOUND WHEN THE FAN IS ON "HIGH" BUT LITTLE TO NO AIR IS BLOWING. WHAT LITTLE AIR COMES OUT IS HOT. THE TEMPERATURE IS SET TO 60 DEGREES AND STILL HOT AIR BLOWS. THIS IS MY SECOND SUMMER TO BE WITHOUT ANY AIR CONDITIONER. YOU MAY ACCIDENTALLY GET A FEW MINTUES OF COLD AIR FIRST THING IN THE MORNING BEFORE THE ENGINE GETS HOT AND THEN IT'S GONE. IN THE AFTERNOON YOU DO NOT GET ANY COLD AIR. I SEE MULTIPLE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON MANY WEBSITES. WHEN IS THE NHTSA GOING TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST NISSAN?

BAD AC/HEATER CONTROL. KNOWN ISSUE, NISSAN SERVICE BULLETIN #NTB15-045E I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2016 NISSAN ROGUE IN 2017 IS NOW WINTER AND THE HEATER HAS FAILED. I TOOK IN IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND BRAKE WORK, BUT WHEN I GOT IT BACK THE HEATER WASN'T WORKING AND THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T HAVE ANY CLUE WHY. THEY HAVE REPLACE THE CONTROL SENOR BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP. THE HEATER WENT OUT ON MY ROGUE ON A VERY COLD MORNING. IT WOULD ONLY BLOW COLD AIR. THIS WAS PROBLEMATIC BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE IN DEFROSTING MY WINDOWS. I HAVE TO DRIVE FOR WORK EVERY MORNING. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2016 NISSAN ROGUE S AWD WITH ABOUT 30,034 MILES ON IT. THE NEXT DAY AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 75 MILES IT STARTED JERKING AND STALLING IN TRAFFIC, AND HAVING ISSUES GOING FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND DRIVE TO REVERSE. ON THE DAY AFTER, WHICH IS TODAY THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND INSTEAD OF DRIVING FORWARD WHILE IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS ON OUR SIDE WALK WITH MY 6 YEAR OLD SON AND I INSIDE. MY FIANC AND I ATTEMPTED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO SHIFT GEARS AND WE WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL. IT SEEMS AS IF THE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAME TO PICK IT UP VIA TOW.

My nissan rogue tail gate and window are leaking and my car now is soured, mildewed, and smells like something has died. I need this to be fixed please, it is starting to make me sick when I have to go anywhere. It seems to get worse day by day and it doesn't matter if it is moving or sitting still.

The car has idling issues and issues with hard vibrations in the front area of the vehicle. The RPM's were adjusted but this did not fix the issue and I was told it is the way the motor sits even though it was not having this issue when I first purchased the vehicle in march of 2018. It does not matter if the vehicle is stationary or moving or if I am turning or where I am driving.

Car only has 63,000 miles on it and the exhaust manifold and sensor in my car went out and my car was properly maintenance like it suppose too. But before then a sensor went out on my car , I never heard of a manifold going out early on any vehicle from any maker not this early and I felt when I bought this car it was already defected.

Our 2016 nissan rogue was stopped at an intersection at 6:30 a.m. On a city roadway when we heard a loud popping noise and the sound of breaking glass. We opened the cover to the sun roof and the smaller sun roof above the driver and front passenger seats was shattered, but the glass remained intact.

On the morning of 6/11/2018, while driving on the freeway, I heard a loud 'gun shot' sound. Inspection of my car on the side of the road showed no damage. Driving home from work that night, about 70mph, all of a sudden I heard noise overhead.

Fuel efficiency marketing scam, I bought a nissan rogue 2016 two years ago. The decision was upon its marketing in extraordinary fuel efficiency the nissan company has made, for local 29/highway32. After few months driving experience and told by the dealer agent, I need to drive my car 5k-10k miles then the engine will provided that fuel efficiency.

The nissan rogue has a vibration on the left side. Can be felt when holding the steering wheel. Brought this to the attention at the dealership 3 times more than a year ago.

I just came off the highway where I almost got killed by a big, long white trailer truck because my vehicle failed to stop at a red light, the brake did not budge, it happened so fast, it feels like the brake was stuck, so I got out of the intersection and steered my way to safety only there was no where for me to safely stop because the ramp took me to i95 s which is very busy.

I have less than 1700 miles on my 2016 nissan rogue and am experiencing a noise when turning steering wheel to the right. Took it to the dealer where I received multiple different stories but ultimately it is an identified problem that they are working on at the factory level.

My car stopped working at the middle of the freeway, luckily I was going downhill. Just like everyone else it may be a transmission issue, as I pressed the gas the far would not moved. I kept shifting gear and it feels like it’s stuck, I can reverse but only for a little bit but once I press the gas it doesn’t go anywhere.

The housing for the key fob does not lock in position causing the key to lose "connectivity" while driving.

While driving on freeway with speed of 60-65 the hood starts like bouncing up and down. I have a fear of it breaking loose from the latch and flying up toward the front windshield and blocking the drivers view to drive. I have not took it into a manufacturer due to time so I just decided to see on the app if there was a recall on this or if anyone else has the same experience

Vehicle has recall since January 2022 and this issue has still not been remedied by manufacturer 7 months later.

the back gate doesn't stay up. It doesn't always want to open either. I push the button and nothing happens or I push the button and it opens but then the gate slowly lowers back down without being touched.

Windshield wipers scrape against the hood of the car when lifted for cleaning/replacing. This damaged the paint.

The hood vibrates uncontrollably when traveling at higher speeds. It is worse when behind trucks. I would think the older it gets that one day the hood will move more and the safety will give way allowing the hood to open

When the car is on and I turn on the air conditioner, the interior makes me very sick. Something about the cars interior makes me very sick. Causes headaches, eye problems, swollen throat and makes me dizzy.

I had no reason to think that a new car only two weeks old would strand me by the road. I had no reason to believe that unlike any other car I ever had, I could put diesel in it by error. Nissan's customer service is just as bad as dealing with this problem.
