TRANSMISSION FAILURE. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE PATHFINDER AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. IT WOULD NOT MOVE EITHER FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS. WE TOWED THE VEHICLE AND UPON INSPECTION BY REPUTABLE TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST, WERE TOLD TWICE BY TWO DIFFERENT INSPECTION SHOPS THAT THE COOLER THAT COOLS THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS 1) DEFECTIVE AND 2) STOPPED UP AND PREVENTED THE TRANSMISSION FROM GETTING PROPER FLUID FLOW. THE TRANSMISSION SHOPS STATED THAT THEY HAVE ADVISED NISSAN OF THIS ISSUE NUMEROUS TIMES AND HAVE REPAIRED THIS ISSUE ON OTHER CARS NUMEROUS TIMES. THE FAILURE CAUSED US TO TOW THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP WITH ESTIMATED REPAIR COSTS OF $3,000. BECAUSE THE FLUID FROM THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT BEING PROPERLY HANDLED, THE PARTS INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION BECAME OVER HEATED AND WERE PERMANENTLY DAMAGED. THERE ARE MANY PARTS IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT WERE DAMAGED. TOO MANY TO LIST HERE, BUT I HAVE A LIST OF PARTS IF NEEDED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 NISSAN PATHFINDER. AFTER THE CONTACT TURNED A CORNER A FEW BLOCKS FROM HER HOUSE, SHE HEARD A CLUNKING SOUND IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. SHE CONTINUED TO HER RESIDENCE AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT SHE HAD A FLAT TIRE; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE REPAIR SHOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO FORWARD; THEREFORE, THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
IBOUGHT MY 2000 NISSAN PATHFINDER LAST SEPT. 11, 2003 WITH A ODOMETER READING OF 59,000 MILES.I DID REARCH ON THIS CARAND CHOSE THE PATHFINDER FOR ITS REPUTATION AND DEPENDABILITY. I EVEN BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY(GOLD POWERTRAIN)TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE. IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR I HAD TO HAVE A SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AT A COST OF $670.83, THEN IN JULY I HAD TO HAVE MY BOLT-WHEEL HUB REPLACED AT A COST OF $52.52. NOW THIS MONTH I HAVING TO REPLACE THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY AT A COST OF $212.32 THAT'S A TOTAL OF $935.67 IN LESS THAN 9 MONTHS SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR.THREE MONTHS IN A ROW ON REPAIRS.AND TO TOP IT OFF MY WARRANTY COVERS NOTHING.THIS CAR HAS NOT PROVEN TO ME TO BE RELIABLE.I'M A SINGLE MOM WITH A SON IN COLLEGE AND I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY SON BECAUSE OF ITS REPUTATION.I WOULD APPRECIATE IF NISSAN WOULD REFUND ME SOME OF MY EXPENSES.I CAN PROVIDE RECEIPTS.THANK YOU.*AK
