The vehicle has had recurring drivability problems since at least June 2024, including repeated check engine light illumination and severe loss of acceleration. On 06/19/2024, dealership service records document that the check engine light was on and the vehicle would not accelerate past 40 MPH, and the check engine light was flashing.

I got a 2017 Kia Sportage May 2022 and in September 2022 I started having problems with it I have taken it to the Kia dealership 3-4 times once even by tow. I have been told by the workers at the dealership that the engine needs to be replaced (car has roughly 87,000 miles). I was driving it down the road and it made a noise and lost power I literally had to floor it just to go around 30-40mph.

Over the last year the car has been having the engine light come on. The car idols ruff, loses power and has left me stranded on the side road. I lost power in the fast lane on the freeway and had to maneuver out of the fast lane to side of freeway.Each time it has been taken to shop it has been a mis-fire in the #3 cylinder and the spark plug had to be replaced.

Transmission intermittently goes into neutral while driving causing engine rev, loss of ability to continue to drive/maintain speed. Very dangerous as you have to drift to the side of the road and put the transmission into Park and back to Drive to get it to engage again.

While driving at a steady speed, car will suddenly disengage the transmission, the rpms will rev high and then transmission will re-engage. This usually lasts 20-30 seconds, it is very random. I have taken it in and because no codes are showing and they are unable to recreate there is nothing they can do.

Transmission will suddenly disengage and engine will accelerate to 4500 RPM or higher. This happens while driving mostly when vehicle is between 25 and 45 MPH. This happens several times a month.

Air conditioning / heat system leaks air onto front windshield causing fog on the inside/outside of front glass. Transmission does not engage full time while in motion. While driving forward, the engine will race and the transmission will become disengaged, within 20-90 seconds the transmission re-engages and you can proceed.

Car was parked overnight keys were taken and car locked at 8pm at 530 am heard crash car rolled into tree and doors were still locked car came out of park and rolled after 9.5 hours of sitting car had to be in park for key fob to lock doors after it rolled the doors were locked but gear was in reverse

Transmission stops drive ability at various times when pulling out into traffic it stops accelerating and the engine just revs high RPM’s until it slams itself back into a power gear. I have stalled several times recently pulling into traffic and was nearly involved in a wreck because a momentary lack of acceleration.

I own a 2017 Kia Sportage, and I recently experienced a malfunction indicator engine light turning on. Upon diagnosis by Kia Russ Darrow at Odana Rd Madison, WI , the vehicle displayed DTC P001000 – ‘A (Intake)’ Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit (Bank 1). They have noticed oil leakage around the E-CVVT motor plug area.

My 2017 KIA SPORTAGE has 74,695 miles. I am the 2ND owner. The engine failed at highway speed, due to so called knock sensor.

Car shakes and putters when started as if the engine is shot, which at this point probably is. I have been adding oil every couple of weeks for over 6 months now with no oil leak detected. I went to the dealer in January to ask about white smoke coming from the tailpipe and Dealership tells me I need to blow the engine up before KIA will do anything about it.

07/25/2019 took car to hilltop kia because auto transmission had been slipping, then stuck in 4th gear. Could not manually shift to change. Dealer replaced transmission switch plate/sensor.

Automatic transmission intermittently, slipping gears but seems to resolve on it's own while driving on city streets and highway. Now also intermittently its not shifting gears at all also while driving on city street. Automatic tranny stuck in 4th and unable to manually shift into another gear.

My car has service engine light on, when to dealer tuesday and they schedule me an appointment a week later on tuesday, but my car breakdown on friday night on highway, radiator overheat and start leaking, damage some other parts and now dealer doesn't want to fix my car and want me to pay $2800.00. first owner 2017 Kia Sportage SX (NOTE SX specifically) AWD 2.0L Turbo Gas Direct Injection (4-cyl engine) (no recalls found) - EXCESSIVE Oil Consumption since early/mid 2023 and continues still today, [XXX]. We lose over 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles, did not discover this until an oil change in early 2023 how low our oil was.

Several times while driving, no matter if I'm in eco mode or sports mode, my rpms spike, and my engine sounds as though I hit the accelerator very hard. This typically happens whenever I'm stopped at a red light or stop sign and and lightly hit the accelerator to begin moving again.

We were driving steady at about 45 MPH and the RPM gauge rubbed at random just once every time. It has happened more than once we don't change your speed or anything it just rubs up to about 5000 RPM and go back to normal and does it sporadically

Transmission started early upshifting after 12k miles. While not apparently dangerous, I find it very annoying.

Without warning the car drops out of gear, the engine revs. You have to take your foot off the gas for the car to go back into drive and you can continue driveing. This happens at any speed.
