Your 2015 Kia Sportage has an open safety recall (NHTSA Recall No. 22V051 / SC227B) that has not been completed. Your engine failed years ago, making the vehicle undriveable, and despite contacting both the dealership and Kia multiple times, you received no response or recall notification letter. You've had to stop making payments because the engine failure created a safety risk. The recall repair will need to be performed by a Kia dealership to address the engine-related safety issue.

Your engine lost all power while driving on the highway with no warning, forcing you to pull over and wait for a tow truck. A mechanic diagnosed the problem as rod knock (internal engine damage), which may be covered under a Kia Theta II class action lawsuit, but Kia is denying coverage because a recall wasn't completed on your vehicle before you owned it. Fixing rod knock typically requires engine replacement or complete engine rebuild.

Your engine suddenly lost power while being driven and wouldn't restart, with the check engine light coming on. A mechanic determined your engine had seized and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified but didn't provide assistance. Fixing this will require a complete engine replacement.

While driving at 55 MPH, you heard a loud clanking noise from under the hood with no warning light. A mechanic diagnosed a cracked rod bearing that requires a full engine replacement. The manufacturer said a related recall had already expired, so the issue isn't covered. The fix will involve replacing the entire engine.

Your engine is consuming oil much faster than normal, requiring you to add oil every 500-1,000 miles. While driving on the freeway at 75-80 mph, your vehicle suddenly lost power and wouldn't go faster than 40 mph, then died at a stoplight. A diagnostic scan found that cylinders 2 and 4 have lost compression, which typically means internal engine damage. The repair will likely require engine compression testing, and possibly engine rebuild or replacement.

Your engine started making a knocking noise about a week after you purchased the vehicle in February 2024. When you took it to a Kia dealership for diagnosis, Kia refused to cover the repair under warranty, claiming that a required recall (PI1802A - PI1802, an ECU Logic Upgrade) hadn't been completed on the vehicle before you owned it. The repair will likely require an engine diagnostic and possibly engine internal service or replacement.

Your engine is burning through oil rapidly, requiring you to refill it every week. You've had it inspected multiple times but mechanics haven't found an obvious cause. The dealer believes your engine may need to be replaced due to excessive oil consumption.

Your engine started knocking while driving on a busy road. Your Kia dealership identified an engine recall and approved a replacement, but the claim was denied because a required KSDS sensor update hadn't been completed first — you never received the recall letter due to an address issue on file. You may need to contact Kia corporate to update your address, complete the sensor update, and resubmit your engine replacement claim.

Your vehicle's diagnostic system is reporting a misfire in cylinder 3, but testing hasn't confirmed the problem is actually occurring. The dealership is recommending you replace the entire engine block, which seems like an extreme solution for an issue that may not exist.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Shortage. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power without warning. The contact was able to pull over on the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 130,000.
My engine is making noise, I have to add oil everyday and there are no leaks under my car. The engine gets hot, i feel like it can catch fire.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming one quart of oil per day. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for an oil change and the mechanic determined that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of oil and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
The contact owned a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle decelerated, and the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle shut off. The battery warning light, the oil warning light, and the check engine warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the spark plugs; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while she was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle decelerated, came to a complete stop at a traffic light and shut off. The failure recurred for the third time. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound, and the vehicle would not accelerate above 20 MPH. The contact stated that while driving up a hill, the vehicle shu+t off. The vehicle was towed to the parent's residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer and the contact was informed that because the knock sensor detection system was not replaced, the dealer was unable to replace the engine. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000. The VIN was not available.
My youngest son was driving on the highway at 65 mpg when all of a sudden, the car would not accelerate. We lost the ability to keep up the speed. The car literally just would not go. I was in the car and was able to put the hazards on in time to not get hit by the 4 cars behind us! We pulled over barely making it to the next exit. Had to call a tow truck that took the car to our mechanic. The next day I was told the engine was shot because an oil issue. This was something the dealership that I took the car to before for excessive oil consumption issues had told me was inherent to this kia model. Seriously!!!! Kia knew about this issue! I was told by the dealer to keep a very close eye on oil levels, changes etc. Which I did and this happens! Shame on Kia for allowing something like this to happen and not take care of. This is a safety issue! What if I wasn't in the car with my son? What if my teen driver got rearended by someone clearly not seeing he had car issues?? NO lights, No warnings! Just like when the oil issue first came up... the oil light didn't even come on! I cannot provide the mechanic paperwork at this time as I am at work, however I would be happy to if this reaches someone who really cares about safety! I have all the work records performed on the car since I purchased it. How can a company continue to produce and sell cars if they consistently and knowingly have safety issues! Or does it take someone getting killed and the news to report it to have something done?
Driving on the interstate in the passing lane going approximately 70 mph. With no warning the engine completely cut out. I was bearly able to pull over. I was traveling up hill. Car was towed to a service garage where it was decided that the engine locked up. the car was later inspected at a Kia deal ship with the same conclusion. Presently I'm without a car and no help.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle began to overheat and there was smoke coming out from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V051000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that he had to pay for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to the residence. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000. The VIN was not available.
Engine locked up. If it were not for my brother in law being a mechanic and alerted me to Kia engine settlement lawsuit I would not have known the KSDS update was ever even a thing. I never received notification for this. Why not? I am out 1000s of $ on a vehicle I have bought that is useless now. KIA is blaming me when I never even knew anything about this. Please I would like to know why I was never informed and it doesn’t even show up when I search my vin either?
2015 KIA SPORTAGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO ENGINE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MOTOR LOCKED UP EVENTHOUGH MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE.
In 2022 , Kia notified me of a recall that caused engine failure if my vehicle. I was instructed to comes in and receive vehicle updates to the engine to fix the issue. In May 2022, went to have the engine recall worked on and was advised the updates were successful. In August 2022 my engine blew out/ cut off in the middle of the highway causing safety issue for me and my daughter. I was successful with rearing the car to safety. I immediately had a mechanic to assess and was advised of engine failure which prompted me to turn to Kia. Kia has had my car in possession over 3 months, asked for numerous documents and has failed to provide any resolution for this horrible safety issue. I would like this to investigated your the highest degree because this is how peoples lives are put in danger. Company will not provide any safety information to me at all when asked as well.
My Kia Sportage drove perfectly fine the past 5 years, out of no where going up a hill it wouldn’t go past 20 mph, was kicking and sputtering. Like it was giving out in a way. I made it home but my check engine light was on. Their was no warning signs, my car ran perfect always. It was very sudden. Had a mechanic look at it and he said a valve from where I put oil in had a leak and caused it to burn up all the oil? Which messed up my motor and needs replaced now. I’m not very good with car specifics but that’s what I was told. My car is now not even drivable.
I took my kia to the dealer because the check engine light was on. They said 2 parts were recalled and they would fix it. I went to pick it up and its still sputtering the check engine light is still on. They were supposed to fix the knock sensor. They did not.
2015 Kia Sportage I purchased on September 6th stalled on the highway on September 9th. No warning lights, no smoke, no indication of any problems up until it stalled. Since it was on the highway and difficult to get to the side of the road, this could definitely pose a safety risk. The place I purchased the vehicle from could not detect the malfunction. It was towed to Gerald Kia of North Aurora where after a week of waiting, they informed me the engine would need to be replaced and was not covered under warranty or the current recall regarding the engine.
Vehicle stalled on the highway 4 days after purchasing from The Car Store in Aurora, IL. No warning, no indicator lights. Steering wheel was hard to control while attempting to safely pull over to the side of the road. All dash lights came on as the car stalled. At my expense, had it towed to The Car Store where they were not able to diagnose cause. Had it towed to Gerald Kia of Aurora. Stated engine will have to be replaced. Not covered under any current recalls. I’m reporting this as a safety issue since there was problems pulling off the highway. Hopefully Kia will look into this issue. Not just for safety, but I’m obviously kinda screwed buying a vehicle on the 6th of September that died on the 9th of September with a huge investment into getting it running again.
I have received a recall and nothing is being done about it as of yet. I have taken it to the dealer about multiple issues that i felt have not been fully addressed, but the engine being able to catch on fire is the ultimate. I not only am in this vehicle , my children are as well. This is not safe to be driving around without any remedy. I either need my engine replaced or a vehicle replacement. Warning lights are always flashing on the dashboard. I keep calling and being left on hold for hours without any one addressing this issue. Does my car need to catch on fire or myself /children die before i receive any results. This is dangerous to keep driving and nothing being done. Please help
My check engine light went off on 7/13/22. A little over 24 hours later, on 7/14/22, I was on the highway with a 65 mph speed limit when my engine completely gave out. I had to navigate to the exit ramp and off the highway. I was unable to accelerate. I had it towed to a local repair shop and on 7/15/22 the told me my entire engine needed replaced. I then had it towed to a local Kia dealership on 7/15/22. I am still waiting to hear from Kia Corporate on whether the engine will be replaced. The engine is currently available for inspection at the Kia Dealership.
There has not been an incident. I received a recall interim letter in March 2022 for my 2015 KIA Sportage. The letter notified me the car engine could experience a fire due to an electrical short circuit. I have contacted the KIA corporation in California and the local KIA in Connecticut and was told there is no remedy yet. The recall letter warned of the potential danger involved. My son in law experienced a life-threatening fire while driving in his KIA and was fortunate to escape death even though his car was entirely destroyed. I find it unbelievable KIA has not rectified this very dangerous problem. The letter stated the problem can be corrected by installing a part. Meanwhile I am not able to use my car as I am sure many other owners are also unable to use theirs. The danger is too great. I hope the NHTSA can assist in this problem.
The contact's husband owns a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 25 MPH, the engine seized while driving down an incline with the check engine warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who informed her that the failure was a known issue and referred her to a dealer for assistance. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer and the contact was informed that since her husband was not the original owner, they would not service the vehicle. The contact sent multiple documents confirming that her husband was the original owner as well as several service documents but had not received a response from the dealer. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart after briefly turning off the vehicle. The vehicle was initially towed to her residence and was later towed to Shawnee Mission Kia (7951 Shawnee Mission Pkwy, Mission, KS 662020). The dealer informed her that the battery would be replaced and that an oil change would be performed; however, the failure continued immediately upon the contact leaving the dealer. The failure worsened over time and the contact discovered that the battery was never replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was also informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V051000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). Another dealer was then notified about the recall and informed her that the failure was not related to the recall. The manufacturer had yet to notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
My engine started making a sound at the same time I was due for an inspection but the check engine light was not on. I took the car in for inspection the day after the sound started and when they looked at the engine they said the “ main rod Bering” was broken and the oil filter was full of metal shavings, but they were able to pass the car because the check engine light wasn’t on. The car only had 80,900 miles on it and it was well cared for so the mechanic suggested I check for a recall. When I checked online for a recall I learned that the car was on recall for POTENTIAL ENGINE FIRE! And this was the first I was hearing of it! I took the car to the kia dealership to get it fixed but they refused to fix it because the engine problem started before I got the “update”THAT NO ONE INFORMED ME I NEEDED. My car went from running fine to broken down in TWO DAYS. Imagine if I hadn’t had the time to get it checked out so quickly. The car could of broken down on the middle of the highway with myself and my children in it, it could of caught fire with myself and me children in it. VERRY VERRY DANGEROUS!
We had just had our 2015 Kia Sportage in a repair shop about a week prior due to a compressor issue. They had run a check on the engine due to the check engine light and excessive oil consumption. They said that it was only showing an issue with an O2 sensor. About a week later, on Saturday, June 25, 2022, I was driving down a steep hill (Hands Pike in Covington, KY) with my son in the back seat. I depressed the brakes and the call stalled out and would not restart. I was able to coast down the hill to a safe point. I was able to turn around and by revving the engine while turning the key, I was able to get the car to start to get it back home (only about a mile). Each time I had to stop, the car stalled again, and I had to repeat the process. We called a tow truck to get the vehicle and the repair shop (Bob Sumeral Tire in Ft. Wright, KY) told us the issue was an internal issue related to the engine and it would have to go to Kia. Kia currently has the vehicle and has confirmed the engine needs replaced, but they are fighting us on doing the necessary repairs and are demanding we provide our maintenance records.
Well it been over 2 month after I had got my oil change and randomly 2weeks after that. It started to hear an knocking sound in the engine so ever since then I haven't drove the truck and I been constantly calling kia and I haven't got respond back
The dangerous situation happened two times while driving my vehicle (2015 Kia Sportage). First one occurred on 4/28/22 while driving on dangerous Orlando I-4 interstate. I was slowing down as on exit ramp and my vehicle's engine turned off all of a sudden. There were no warning lights whatsoever during incident or in the past. Only lights displayed were normal dashboard warning lights while engine was off. Car turned on again after about 15 minutes. I drove it for 1 mile. I was afraid to drive it again. I called to have vehicle towed to a Kia dealership/repair shop in West Orlando, FL. After running diagnostics on my vehicle, Kia technician and service manager informed me that since they couldn't duplicate issue, they couldn't do anything to remedy it. Also was informed that if it was related to recall, they still couldn't do anything since there is No Remedy for it at this time. Kia release vehicle to me despite this dangerous, life-threatening issue(s). I decided to only drive on backroads since this happened since I knew the issue was not addressed. On 5/13/22, again experienced similar issue as aforementioned. While driving and slowing down to approach turn at a corner, my vehicle suddenly turned off. This time my vehicle would not restart. My vehicle was towed to another Kia repair shop east Orlando, FL. At this time, I am awaiting diagnostic results which are scheduled for 5/16/22 in the afternoon. I will keep you posted. Thank you in advance for your attention to this potentially life-threatening vehicle safety matter.
The engine of my kia sportage 2015 has stalled. Apparently there was two other recalls for the car before I bought it used at the dealership at Autoland that I was not notified of. Being the second owner the Kia dealership told me that they couldn't replace the engine for free due to that fact that there was some type of time limit and it would cost $10,000. However, in the kelly blue book website Its stated that if its within 8 years of the purchase date they still have to fix the recall even if I'm the second owner so now I'm trying to get a lawyer just incase.
My engine failed at 90,000 miles on my 2015 Kia Sportage. I purchased a replacement engine on 2/8/22. On 4/16/22, the second engine failed. Same problem. These cars are not safe and should not be on the road. Engine and rental car costs was over $6,000.
The car all the sudden started knocking within a day no warning and no engine light, so towed to KIA dealer. Confirmed engine needs to be replaced. This is concerns as I'm reading there are known issues with this engine even causing fires. The stated that there is a product and campaign to update the sensor not that isn't working but to make it more sensitive to engine issue but her check engine never even came on and the engine is done. Kia will not cover the engine replacement even though there are many having this issue because she didn't get the sensor update done even though there is nothing when you look up her car on the site to tell her and we didn't get a notice. There is no way to track that they notified us.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light was illuminated and there was a knocking noise heard. The vehicle had an engine replacement from a previous engine failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that there were no leaks or smoke detected and reset the engine sensor. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer informed the contact that they could not perform a comprehensive diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000.
My husband and daughter were in the car and the car lights came on and stopped working. The engine stopped working. We tried to replace the battery and starter. We took it to Kia dealership knowing I have 100,000 mile warranty on the engine. They are denying it because I didn’t get a recall that I didn’t know about. If you pull up my VIN number there are no safety recalls. I know don’t have a car.
While driving on the highway at 60 mph the car without warnings turned off and I could not move the steering wheel easily or even hit the breaks. luckely I was able to turn my emergency lights on which alerted the semi-truck behind me who slowed down and I was able to pull to the right lane and once I felt the car slowed down enough stepped on the emergency breaks. I attempted to turn on the car but no luck, there wasn't any warning signs. so I called my AAA to come check the batteries and/or fuel because I wasn't sure what was going on. While the AAA technichian was checking he discovered that there was no oil in the car, which was odd since I replaced the oil less than a month before and I still had 2000miles for my next service. I towed my car to Shawnee Mission Kia, as soon as they checked my VIN the service person stated that "my car is on the list for an engine recall" so he said they will inspect it and get back to me. 2 days later they came back stating that I failed to respond to an ECU software update which voids my warranty. keep in mind I never got any recall letter, and even when they mentioned it I went on the KIA website and inserted my vin and there was no recall reported. At which point decided to take it to another KIA dealer hoping to deal with level minded people, they checked my VIN# and said my car qualifies for a recall, and they will inspect and let me know. 2 days later they stated the same thing. now I have been struggling to find a car, and not sure what I need to do to get my recall granted. I am a 2 time KIA owner and this service have surely convinced me not to buy any KIA any more. any help is much appreciated.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated the vehicle failed to start and was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with the engine needing to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that she was responsible for the cost of the repair since she had failed to complete a recall repair of the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact she was responsible for the cost of the repair because she did not complete a Product Improvement campaign. The failure mileage was 43,000.
I was driving my Sportage at 70 miles an hour on the freeway here in Fort Worth and the car died just shut off leaving me trying to control a car in the fast lane with no engine. It was hard steering and I got it over the three lanes of traffic to exit off the freeway. No power, no warning, no check engine light absolutely Nothing. Died.. Once off freeway car would not crank, lightup, turned key nothing. At least I could get the car stopped by stomping on the brakes before I caused a major accident or someone from behind ran me over causing an accident. Scared the ever living daylights out of me and I'm a guy who really doesn't scare to easily. What if it had been my wife. Worse part is I was on my way to the emergency hospital because my wife had just been admitted for a horrible infectious cat bite that is possibly going to take her hand or her life because of raging infection in her body. So, had I not been able to man handle the car I could of been laying next to her or possibly in the morgue because of this incident of the engine seizing. Besides the fact that my safety was put in jeopardy so were all the others on this busy interstate. I had to literally cut people off that we going the speed limit with me going like 60, 50,40,30,20,10 then dead. There have been no recall notices for this vehicle. I have checked your website and Kia's. Nothing which means we never got a recall notice. So, we were unaware of this potential critical accident waiting to happen. We towed to the dealer only to be told we didn't get a knock sensor detection system part put on the car. Well first of all we never got a recall notice cuz we are not listed. Second the knock sensor is just going to shut off the engine as the engine is seizing and still have the car die with no prior warning. Hyundai and Kia new about this engine problem since 2012 and has continued to use this engine all the while not caring about the publics safety to the tune of over 630,000 and counting.
Engine stalled, misfired while driving resulting in unrepairable engine damage. The engine stalled in the mid of the highway and could have led to an accident. The check engine light started to flash while i was driving. After the engine stalled, i had the car inspected by a repair shop called national tires and batteries in Zanesville Ohio and they informed me of a bulletin that was placed on the car that mentions the issue. I had the car towed to the nearest dealer and they inspected the car and confirmed that it was the same issue mentioned in the bulletin and began to replace the engine because it was still under warranty.
ON 12/24/18 MY 2015 KIA SPORTAGE ENGINE SEIZED AS I WAS ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT IT COULD TAKE A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE THEY GOT A NEW ENGINE. I DID NOT GET MY CAR UNTIL MID AUGUST OF 2019. WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK IT WAS CONSUMING A LOT OF GAS. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE HIGH FUEL CONSUMPTION UNTIL I TOOK MY CAR ON A ROAD TRIP ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I GOT MY CAR AND IT WAS ONLY GIVING ME ONLY ABOUT 200 MILES FOR A FULL TANK OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY. I INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE ISSUE, BUT THEY ONLY ASKED WHY I HAD WAITED SO LONG. I TOLD THEM IT WAS NOT APPARENT TO ME BECAUSE I WAS ONLY DRIVING MY CAR FOR ERRANDS. THEY WOULD NOT CHECK MY CAR AS IT WAS NOT THROWING ANY ERRORS. I CONTINUED COMPLAINING AND THEY FINALLY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AFTER WHICH THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE OXYGEN SENSORS. I HAD THE OXYGEN SENSORS REPLACED, BUT CAR CONTINUED TO CONSUME TOO MUCH GAS. A FEW MONTHS LATER I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR "HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PIPE MAY LEAK". I TOOK THE TO THE CAR TO THE DEALER AROUND LATE MAY OR EARLY JUNE OF 2021 AND THEY CONDUCTED THE RECALL REPAIRS. I WAS ALSO REIMBURSED FOR MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES FOR REPLACING OXYGEN SENSORS. AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS, MY CAR STILL CONTINUED TO CONSUME TOO MUCH GAS. TOWARDS THE END OF FEBRUARY 2021 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I STARTED SMELLING EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE MY CAR. THE DEALER DID A DIAGNOSTIC ON 3/8/21 AND TOLD ME THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED, BUT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY SO I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. MY CAR JUST REACHED 103K MILES AND HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES SINCE THE ENGINE SEIZED AND WAS REPLACED. I'M ON A FIXED INCOME AND CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND NOW I HAVE A CAR I CAN'T DRIVE BECAUSE IT HAS LOST POWER AND SMELLS OF EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE MY CAR.
ENGINE USES APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART OF OIL PER MONTH WITH MINIMAL USAGE DUE TO COVID
ON 10/9/2020 DRIVING SOUTH ON PA. TURNPIKE NE EXTENSION WHEN ENGINE STATED KNOCKING AND LOSING POWER. PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND TRIED TO RESTART IT BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. CONTACTED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST SERVICE STATION. THEY COULD NOT LOOK AT IT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY AS THEY WERE VERY BUSY. WHEN THEY DID LOOK AT IT THEY SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS SOMETHING WENT WRONG INTERNALLY WITH THE ENGINE. THEY SAID THEY COULD GET IT TO START BUT THAT IT SHOULDN'T BE DRIVEN AS THE KNOCKING ON THE ENGINE WAS GETTING EXTREMELY LOUD WHEN YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO ANOTHER SERVICE STATION CLOSER TO HOME. IT SAT THERE FOR A WEEK BEFORE THEY COULD LOOK AT IT. THEY REACHED THE SAME CONCLUSION AFTER REPLACING THE ENGINE AIR FILTER, THE CABIN AIR FILTER, CAM SHAFT WT SOLENOID - EXHAUST WITH AN OEM PART. WHEN REPLACING THE SOLENOID THEY NOTICED METAL SHAVINGS IN THE MOTOR OIL. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ENGINE SHOULD PROBABLY BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER 93735 MILES ON IT.
MY CAR STALLED AND EMIT A LARGE CLOUD OF EXHAUST WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT WITH NO PRIOR INDICATION OF ANY KIND OF PROBLEM. KIA HAS NOW TOLD ME I NEED A FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT. *TR
I OWN A 2015 KIA SPORTAGE WITH 148,898 MILES ON IT. NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS, I KEPT UP WITH MAINTENANCE OF THE VEHICLE AND GET OIL CHANGES REGULARLY. THE LAST OIL CHANGE WAS AT 143,122 MILES. FOUR DAYS AGO I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE OIL LIGHT WENT ON THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND I COULD HEAR A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND GOT A TOW TRUCK TO TOW ME TO THE CLOSEST MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE CAR AT ALL AND IT WAS BONE DRY BUT NO SIGNS OF LEAKING. THE ENGINE IS NOW RUINED.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. RATTLING IN ENGINE. GOT CODE CHECKED AND P0014. DID PROPER MAINTENANCE FOR THE ERROR AND THE SLUGGISH ENGINE AND RATTLING PERSISTED. I THEN TOOK CAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH REVEALED METAL IN THE OIL AND CONTAMINATED THE ENGINE. THEY RECOMMEND A NEW ENGINE. THIS ALL TOOK PLACE IN A TWO DAY SPAN AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK ONE MORNING (THE DAY THE LIGHT CAME ON).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SPORTAGE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BECAUSE HE SUSPECTED AN ISSUE WITH THE SERPENTINE BELT. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WESTGATE KIA (10956 STAR RD, WAKE FOREST, NC 27587, (919) 263-3061) WHERE AN UNKNOWN RECALL WAS DISCOVERED. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED PER THE RECALL AND THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING. THE DEALER CAME TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED, BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO PAY TO TOW THE VEHICLE BACK TO THEIR FACILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,400. *JS
I WAS GETTING OFF OF THE INTERSTATE, APPROACHING A STOP SIGN ON THE OFF RAMP, AND MY CAR SHUT OFF. I CRANKED IT BACK UP AND IMMEDIATELY WENT TO A MECHANIC. IT BEGAN MAKING A NOISE (ONLY WHEN I FIRST PRESSED ON THE GAS). THE MECHANIC DROVE IT AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND QUICKLY DETERMINED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BOTTOM END OF MY MOTOR.
THIS VEHICLE HAD A SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEM. THE CAR STOPPED AND CUT OFF AT A STOPLIGHT RECENTLY. OIL LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR HAS A PROBLEM AND NOW HAS TO HAVE A REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE PART THAT CONTROLS EXHAUST, CAMSHAFT POSITION TIMING. THAT IS THE ENGINE CODE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE ENGINE WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY. MECHANIC SUGGESTS THAT THE CAR HAS NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE TIMING BELT SOMETIMES WON'T LET ENGINE TURN OVER. AND THERE IS OIL LEAKING FROM IN FRONT OF THE MOTOR. THIS IS A PROBLEM COMBINED WITH A POOR SEAL ON MOTOR, AND THE OIL PAN HAD A SERIOUS LEAK. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE OIL BECAME A BIG PROBLEM. GOING TO WORK AND HAD TO STOP AND GET IT LOOKED AT. DRIVING ON A COUNTRY ROAD TOWARDS WORK, THANKFULLY A FARMER HELPED ME SINCE THE LEAK WAS BAD.
ENGINE STARTED MAKING KNOCKING SOUND WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING TO HOUSTON TX AND THE ENGINE STALL ON ROAD. VERY BUSY ROAD. FORTUNATELY COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND NO OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND. AFTER CONTACT KIA MOTORS THEY SENT WRECKER SERVICE. BUT DID NOT TOW TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP BUT GARAGE IN NEAREST TOWN. MECHANIC HAD NO IDEA WHY VEHICLE WAS SENT TO HIM. I HAD TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO TOW CAR TO MY DEALERSHIP. AT DEALERSHIP NOW THEY SAY ENGINE IS PART OF RECALL BUT I NEVER RECIEVED ANY NOTICE TO TAKE OUR VEHICLE IN. NOW OVER A MONTH LATER STILL NO CAR AND NO ANSWER AS TO WHEN MY CAR WILL BE READY. AND PAYING FOR RENTAL. I GUESS THEY HAVE TO WAIT FOR FATALLY TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
I PURCHASED 2015 KIA SPORTAGE AT PEAK KIA IN LITTLETON COLORADO JULY 2015 NEW 0 MILES. ON APRIL 19,2019 I CONTACTED KIA DEALERSHIP 303-904-7800 BECAUSE THE CAR DASH WENT COMPLETELY BLANK, I SPOKE TO CURTIS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SPENT OVER AN HOUR TRYING TO DISCUSS MY ISSUE, I REPLACED MY BATTERY, THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING THE CAR STARTED TO LOSE SPEED, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO PEAK. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME A VEHICLE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT LOOK AT MY CAR UNTIL MONDAY 4/22/2019. I WENT THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER AND FINALLY WAS GIVEN A VEHICLE TO DRIVE. ON 4/27/2019 THE DEALERSHIP WANTED THE LOANER VEHICLE BACK AND PUT ME INTO A RENTAL CAR, MY FRUSTRATION WITH BEING IN A RENTAL INSTEAD OF THE COURTESY VEHICLE IS THAT I ELECTED RENTAL CAR INSURANCE WHICH I AM PAYING OUT OF POCKET DUE TO THE FACT THAT RENTAL CAR AGENCIES WILL FIND ANY DING OR DENT AND MAKE YOU PAY IF INSURANCE IS NOT ADDED. I FEEL LIKE THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE PROVIDED A COURTESY VEHICLE BECAUSE I HAD ALL OF THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE DONE AT PEAK KIA, PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AS A CONSUMER I DID MY PART, THE PURCHASE OF THIS NEW VEHICLE HAS NOT REACHED THE 4 YEAR MARK? KIA HAS 10 YEAR 100,000 MILE WARRANTY ON THE MOTOR. I WAS INFORMED BY PEAK THAT KIA WILL PUT A REFURBISHED ENGINE IN THE CAR WITH 12,000 WARRANTY AND 1 YEAR SO I AM LOSING MY ADDITIONAL 30,000 MILE WARRANTY AND 6 YEARS OF WARRANTY FROM THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE. THE REASON THAT I PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE WITH 0 MILES AND COMPLETED SUGGESTED MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS WAS TO ELIMINATE MECHANICAL ISSUES .
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AT ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN SOMETHING GAVE OUT ON ME. I WAS PUSHING ON THE GAS AND THE CAR WAS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I WASN'T SURE WHAT IT WAS AT FIRST UNTIL I CALLED AAA AND HAD THEM CHECK WHAT WAS WRONG. AT FIRST THEY SAID IT WAS THE STARTER BECAUSE WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY, THE LIGHTS CAME ON BUT WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE. I HAD TO LEAVE IT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OVERNIGHT. THAT NEXT MORNING I CALLED A TOW AND HAD THEM TAKE IT TO A NEARBY AUTO MECHANIC. HE THEN TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE MOTOR THAT SEIZED UP ON ME AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME BETWEEN 2 TO 3K! THERE WAS A LOT OF OIL THAT LEAKED EVERYWHERE BUT I HAD DONE AN OIL CHANGE ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF PRIOR. SO I'M MAKING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I'VE READ ABOUT THESE TYPES OF SITUATIONS THAT OCCURRED WITH OTHER PEOPLE OUT OF NOWHERE!
SPUN A ROD IN THE ENGINE WITHOUT WARNING
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK IT STARTED KNOCKING, OIL PRESSURE & LEVELS WERE FINE. THEN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MOTOR SHUT DOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 KIA SPORTAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AS ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND THEN EXPLODED. THE CONTACT STATED NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED AS THEY WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE SAFELY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING LOT AND DESTROYED. THE CONTACT CALLED KIA OF CERRITOS DEALERSHIP ((562) 860-2424 LOCATED AT 18201 STUDEBAKER RD, CERRITOS, CA 90703) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL AND DID NOT OFFER FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH IN THE SLOW LANE WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON, THEN ALL THE SERVICE LIGHTS LIT UP AND THE CAR BEGAN LOSING POWER. LUCKILY, I WAS COMING TO AN OFFRAMP AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE END OF THE OFFRAMP (SIGNAL) BEFORE THE CAR DIED COMPLETELY. WE HAD TO PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE ROAD AND AROUND THE CORNER TO A CURB AS WE WERE BLOCKING ONE SIDE OF THE OFFRAMP. HAD I NOT BEEN IN THE SLOW LANE AND NEAR AN OFFRAMP, THE CAR WOULD HAVE DIED ON THE FREEWAY WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION. WAS TOLD BY KIA SERVICE DEPT. THAT THE ENGINE BLEW BECAUSE OF SLUDGE IN THE OIL.
