Your 2012 Kia Soul caught fire while parked in your driveway, with flames starting from under the hood and completely destroying the vehicle. The fire also caused heat damage to your home and a neighbor's home, and spread to your deck before being extinguished by the fire department. Your vehicle's VIN matched a safety recall (NHTSA Campaign 23V652) related to service brakes and hydraulic systems, but you had not received the recall notice. Resolving this issue would require a complete vehicle inspection by a professional mechanic or manufacturer to identify the exact fire cause, likely involving brake system components and electrical wiring.

Your 2012 Kia Soul was recalled for a hydraulic brake system issue (NHTSA Campaign 23V652000), but when you took it to the dealer, they refused to perform the repair. The dealer said they couldn't fix the brakes because your ignition was damaged from an attempted theft, and they didn't even inspect the vehicle to assess the actual brake problem. You'll likely need to have the ignition repaired first, then contact the dealer or manufacturer again to get the brake recall service completed.

We have tried multiple times to obtain information on this recall. My husband was finally told we must travel over 240 miles for this procedure. This would include two separate trips to Eugene. The first trip for the diagnosis and the second trip for the remedy "if it needs it". Every person at the dealership told my husband a different story and he finally gave up. We are older and we do not travel anymore. We do not have the internet. I am hoping you can help in some way. This is a huge inconvenience, not to mention the cost of gas. Any help would be appreciated.

Any time I apply the brakes while simultaneously hitting a bump, speed bump, etc, the brakes seems to loose power and the brakes seem to go to the floor. It's frightening! I have mentioned it to the KIA Dealer but they've not been able to identify the issue.
MY CAR (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) HAS REPEATEDLY STARTED ROLLING WHEN PARKED IN 1ST CAR WITH THE E-BRAKE PULLED. TWO WEEKS AGO IT ALMOST RAN OVER MY SON. HE SCREAMED AND STRANGERS RAN AND STOPPED THE CAR FROM ROLLING ON MY SON. IT HAS STARTED ROLLING LIKE THIS MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN I WAS CERTAIN THE BRAKE WAS FULLY PULLED AND THE CAR WAS IN 1ST GEAR. I HAVE BEEN IN THE CAR WHEN IT HAS DONE THIS AND CAN CONFIRM FIRST HAND THIS PROBLEM.
THE SIDE BRAKES DO NOT ILLUMINATE SO THE SAFETY OF YOURSELF AND OTHERS ARE AT RISK. WENT OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNS OF FAILURE. THIRD LIGHT WORKS FINE ON TOP.
THE BRAKES ON ALL FOUR WHEEL ARE "EXTREMELY" SENSITIVE. THIS IS NOT BRAKES GRABBING, IT IS THE THE SLIGHTEST PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BRINGS BRAKING SYSTEM ON "HARD". IN A PANIC STOP SITUATION IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE LIGHT TOUCH TO THE BRAKE PEDAL WITHOUT OVER BRAKING. THE DEAL SAID THIS IS NORMAL. I SAY BS, THIS ISN'T MY FIRST NEW CAR. IN A NUT SHELL, THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS TO SENSITIVE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL CORRECT STOPPING DISTANCE. *TR
