Your van has multiple serious mechanical problems that appeared shortly after purchase. The power sliding door takes 10-15 minutes to close, the steering wheel locks up unexpectedly, brake fluid is leaking at a rate of about a quart per day and the brake lines are in poor condition, and the front driver's side CV joint is broken. Additionally, the van smells strongly of black mold, suggesting it may have been in a flood. Repairs will likely include replacing brake lines, the CV joint, the sliding door motor or mechanism, and steering components, plus addressing any water damage.

Your front strut springs broke on both sides, puncturing holes in both front tires and causing blowouts. The broken springs also revealed severe rust on the lower control arm and its mounting point to the subframe, making these components unsafe to repair. You were fortunate the tire failures happened at low speed; if they had occurred while driving at highway speeds, you could have lost control of the vehicle.

Both front control arms broke on your vehicle, which also damaged the front tires. A tow truck driver indicated this was a serious safety issue — if you'd been driving faster, you could have lost control of the van and it could have rolled over.

While driving at 40 mph, your daughter heard a loud squealing sound from the front tires, followed by a loud crack when she pulled over. The front control arms on both sides of the vehicle were corroded and had fractured. The repair involved replacing the damaged control arms on both sides of the suspension.
