The dashboard shows 4WD and lightning warning symbols, the steering wheel and wheels lock up, the transmission won't shift, and the front left turn signal doesn't work. This is a serious safety issue since the engine cut off while you were driving. The problem likely involves the electrical system, starter motor, and engine control module, which may need diagnosis and repair.

Re: AQ14-003-FCA-Consent-Order-7-24-2015 & 2019 Safety Recall [Manufacturer Recall Number V62 & NHTSA Recall Number 19V-813]. FCA hasn't been in compliance with either of them regarding 'my' vehicle. 2015 Consent Decree implies should have been notifying car owners of any type of recall. 2017 recall was cancelled & 2019 safety recall was issued 4 years after the decree, 1 year after I bought the car, a safety recall was issued. Wasn't notified. 2 years later "I" contacted FCA (now Stellantis) to get my vehicle remedied by repair or replacement. Parts were shipped to a dealership but they used it on one of their customers. I asked for another set of parts. After that, absolutely nothing has happened up to now. Keep in mind FCA had my information (email, phone & address) either from me emailing or speaking with a customer rep. It's been over 3 years since last heard from FCA. On my side I no longer have ability to contact them directly since they became Stellantis. 49 U.S.C. § 30166(f); 49 C.F.R. §§ 573.6(c)(10); 577.5(a), 577.7(c)(1), & 49 U.S.C. § 30165(a)(1); 49 C.F.R. § 578.6(a) NHTSA fined FCA/Stellantis > $100 million for 'not' making an effort to send recall notifications of any type of recalls directly to owners of their vehicles within a reasonable amount of time also to remedy the issue. If they don't comply $7,000 per violation & only remedy is replacing the vehicle in question. It's exact issue! Been over 7 years waiting within a reasonable remedy, it never happened. This is a safety issue. I was assured it'd be fixed, never was. I'm putting my life at risk & others driving. Unbelievably the part sent to me the dealership without my consent & knowledge gave it to one of their customers. I called to complain & expected another part to be sent out to another dealership. It never happened. I never spoke to anyone at FCA since then 3 years ago. There doesn't need to be a lengthy investigation. It shows my recall status as open. Proof of noncompliance.
This Jeep has had 2 recalls and repairs related to the fuel pump relay. The first recallrepair did not fix the issue, Jeep then replaced the relay again, which did not fix the issue. Then there was a NEW recall and repair, which also did not fix the issue. The car still has the exact same issues, the car will randomly stall soon after being started. I’m not sure what to do at this point bc I feel unsafe driving this car and it is my only vehicle.
While driving through the intersection after slowing down at light, vehicle completely stalled, turned off in the middle of the intersection and wouldn't start back up. I had to have it towed to dealership. I have had it in dealer prior to this incident for stalling issues just out of nowhere. They simply said they cannot find a cause. This is dangerous to me because vehicles behind me don't know that I am stalled out and almost hit me. Prior to this last time, I have been able to restart vehicle by putting in neutral and getting it to move on it's way, but still scary while vehicles behind me don't know that I was going to stall out. This last incident, I had to be pushed off of the road and then towed to dealer. Hoping they can find the cause and fix.
The transmission shifts strangely, and it seems like it cannot decide which gear it needs to be in for normal operations. It also causes the vehicle to stall while driving. Also, at times it stays in only one gear, and you cannot even shift gears manually. Intermittently, the vehicle starts out in a higher gear, and it doesn’t correct itself, so acceleration is way below what it needs to be. I have been fortunate to avoid a few crashes due to the stalling.
After getting my car back from big o doge in Greenville sc I was on my way to work and stopped at a redlight when the light turned green my car just sat there and didn’t move I pressed the gas but nothing it just revved up like it was in neutral pressed the gas to the floor nothing all of a sudden it was like it jumped and took off…also did the same thing at a stop sign up hill and I had a car coming in the other lane as I was crossing the lane to get into the correct one….I had open recalls and set up for it to be checked when I arrived at the delarship they told me my recalls were closed. My car was not checked or repaired at the time how can you just cancel a recall/campaign after notification and claim parts aren’t available but the car was never fixed? I called the delarship paid 400 for 2 diagnostics and they didn’t put my trans cap back on so now they’ve basically ruined my car and didn’t fix NOTHING
My 2012 jeep SRT8 will be driving n jerking and feels unsafe think gotta be a n23 transfer case or final drive ordeal they have with different year not my year but should be and I don't feel safe at all n I paid a lot of money for this premium vehicle and getting run around and serv 4wd and traction control off n fcw off pops up after few minutes all at same time got transfer case control module coming in mail hopefully it works but if not it's gotta b update or flash transmission update but it'll literally be surging and when slowing down it'll fell like it's getting shift in wrong gear it's crazy
My transmission keeps clunking
Vehicle stalled without warning. No power whatsoever. Illuminated battery light came on. Noticed a burning odor coming from vehicle. Checked engine bay and noticed heavy smoke coming from alternator for a good 10 minutes. Vehicle would not take a jump nor could I put into gear. Battery is completely dead. PCM also seems to be fried. Will have to be towed to Dealership. Called Jeep costumer care and referenced the t36 recall but my vin does not fall under it even though vehicle fits EXACT description of recall. Also noticed that many others are have same problem with Jeep and them not expanding the recall to their vin. How terrible!! This could have easily been a fatal situation. Jeep needs to take some responsibility and action!
Since owning this vehicle (2013), it periodically stalls while driving. There is no warning and most times I am on a highway or getting off an exit. When this happens, I have no power steering ability. I have been lucky so far and I have not caused a serious accident when these episodes have occurred. My wife refused to ride or to drive the Jeep because of this problem. I see online that other Jeep owners have experienced the same problem. I have taken it to a Jeep dealer for service since 2013 and they are never able to diagnose the root cause of this problem. This problem seems to be happening more often - I fear for my life and those around me due to this sporadic problem. Please hold Jeep responsible for getting to the root of this issue with these vehicles.
I have an on going issue with the vehicle stalling while slowing down for intersections, roundabouts and exit ramps. This has been happening since 2018. The vehicle traveling around 35-25 decelerating, the RPMs will just drop to zero and the engine will shut off. No warning lights, codes or indication I have lost power. Latest incident was on 1/14/22 in Mukwonago, WI after have only driven the vehicle for about 10 minutes. Coming from a 55 zone donw to a stop at an intersection the vehicle stalled with no warning around 30-25 MPH. 1/16/22 I was entering a roundabout and saw the RPMs dropping below idle to zero and was able to stop the stall by shifting the transmission into neutral. RPMs immediately went back to idle.
MY CAR BEGAN SHUDDERING, THE DEAL OF DRIVING A BOAT ALMOST, FEELING LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN A LOWER GEAR BUT NOT AS ROUGH. THE DEALER PREFORMED RECALL REPAIR FSA 14M02TSB 16-0129 TODAY IN DENTON. I DROVE HOME THE 35 MI. AND, ALTHOUGH IMPROVED STILL FELT THE SAME. MY BOYFRIEND RESEARCHED OTHER BULLETINS AND RECALLS. THEN JACKED THE CAR UP AND SAW A LEAK RELATING TO 14M01TSB. I CALLED BUT WAS TOLD SINCE I HAVE 127798 MI AND IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN 10 HRS, THIS NO LONGER APPLIES. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR CODED RELATED TO THESE ISSUES AND I FEEL THAT THESE 2 ISSUES ARE RELATED TO EACH OTHER AND 1401TSB SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ACCOMMODATE CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE THIS ISSUE BUT WEREN'T AWARE AS DIAGNOSTICS DO NOT SHOW THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THE LEAK IS NOT SEVERE ENOUGH TO NOTICE DRIVEWAY SPOTS. THE ONLY CODE OF MY CAR IS AN OXYGEN SENSOR CODE THAT SHOWED UP AFTER THE DEALER REPAIR TODAY. I HAVE SEEN MANY PEOPLE WHO HAS THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE THEREFORE IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT JEEP MANUFACTURERS ARE FULLY AWARE OF. I REQUEST THAT THE PREVIOUS 14M01 BE EXTENDED TO COVER ALL PARTS, REPAIRS AND LABOR RELATED TO THIS ISSUES FOR THESE VEHICLE OWNERS. I AM JUST OUTSIDE THE COVERAGE OF THIS BULLETIN AND HAD MY BOYFRIEND NOT JACKED UP THE VEHICLE AND CHECKED HIMSELF AFTER RESEARCHING THE BULLETINS, WE WOULD STILL BE UNAWARE OF THE ACTUAL PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT FELT THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOWERED WITHOUT WARNING. AS THE VEHICLE LOWERED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL AS HE DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND SAW THAT PART OF THE SUB FRAME WAS DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT HAD DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE TRAVELLING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROX 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST TORQUE AND LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND HAD A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WHILE HITTING GAS PEDAL. VEHICLE IS ONLY 80,100 OF 100,000/5 YEAR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. DEALER WOULD NOT WARRANTY THIS POWERTRAIN ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THE VIN HAS MULTIPLE EARLIER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY ITEMS COMPLETED. DEALER DIAGNOSED AS FRONT TRANSFER CASE INTERNALLY FAILED, AND FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HAS FAILED. MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INDICATED THIS FAILURE IS COMMON AND MAY ALSO REQUIRE A FRONT DIFFERENTIAL REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER INITIALLY DIAGNOSED AS FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE BUT DETERMINED IT TO BE THE TRANSFER CASE. PARTS ARE NOT READILY AVAILABLE DUE TO THIS BEING A COMMON FAILURE (4+ WEEKS FOR PARTS). A FONT DRIVE SHAFT AND TRANSFER CASE FAILURES ARE VERY DANGEROUS AND CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO CRASH.
A FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILURE RESULT IN A NO-START CONDITION.
IN A PULL FORWARD PARK SPOT, SHIFTED TO REVERSE TO BACK OUT. CAR LURCHED BACKWARD VERY FAST. CROSSED THE ROAD, STOPPED BY A 4' X 6' POST SET IN THE GROUND. THE COLLISION BROKE THE POST AND CRACKED MY CAR'S REAR BUMPER. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, BUT IT COULD NOT CONTROL THE SPEED. THANKFULLY, NO PEOPLE WERE IN THE ROAD. NO INJURIES. THIS WAS PIN A COMMERCIAL FARM, WHERE PEOPLE CAN HARVEST THE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. THE ROAD IS BLACKTOP. MY CAR LEFT SKID MARKS ACROSS THE WIDTH OF THE ROAD. IT WAS A FRIGHTENING EVENT FOR ME AND MY FRIEND. I CALLED MY CAR DEALER LATER TO ASK IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY INCIDENTS LIKE THIS...SHIFTING INTO REVERSE AND THE CAR ZIPPED OFF- OUT OF CONTROL. JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 50,000 MILES ON IT CAR IS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT ONLY A MONTH AFTER I PURCHASED IT A LIGHT SAYING ' SERVICE 4WD' HAS POPPED UP ON MY DASH AND IVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL DEALERS AND THEY SAY ITS NEEDS A NEW TRANSFER CASE AND IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS. IF IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM THEN WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON IT, IT IS PRETTY RIDICULOUS AS MUCH AS PEOPLE PAY FOR A CAR AND THE PROBLEMS THAT GO WRONG WITH IT AND THE MANUFACTURER CANT EVEN FIX THERE OWN PROBLEMS ON THE CARS THAT BUILT! 2012 GRAND CHEROKEE V6. TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY SLIPS TO NEUTRAL WHILE STILL IN DRIVE WITHOUT WARNING. MOSTLY WHILE STOPPED FOR LIGHT OR SIGN. SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL AND BACK TO GET IT INTO DRIVE AGAIN. NO SIGNS OF SHIFTING, SOUNDS, LURCHING, BUMPS OR GRINDING. SMOOTH AS CAN BE, ONLY WAY I CAN TELL IS THE CAR ACCELERATES. REPAIR SHOP CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM.
MY JEEP HAS BEEN GOING INTO FIRST GEAR ON ITS ON WHILE IN MOTION WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING. IT HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS BUT IS NOW HAPPENING WITH MORE FREQUENCY. IT HAS USUALLY HAPPENED AFTER HAVING BEEN STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT AND AFTER GETTING BACK INTO MOTION AND UP TO SPEED BUT IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT HAVING RECENTLY STOPPED. I AM USUALLY IN TRAFFIC AND UNABLE TO PULL OVER SO I HAVE BEEN HAVING TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE WHILE IN MOTION.
WHEN I PRESS THE PUSH START AND THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND NOT TURN OVER. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE 4 YEARS I'VE HAD IT. THE LAST TIME I TRIED TO START IT, IT WOULD NOT CRANK. I USED JUMPER CABLES TO TRY AND REVIVE THE BATTERY. DOING THIS REVERTED POWER BACK TO MY VEHICLE, YET IT WOULD STILL NOT TURN OVER. I THEN HAD TO PUT THE KEYFOB INTO THE IGNITION AND TRY IT MANUALLY. STILL NOTHING WORKED AND MY CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER AND START. IT MAKES ONE CLICK, AND THEN NOTHING.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE MOVED THE GEAR SHIFTER INTO NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT NORMAL SPEED, THE VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF GEAR AND INTO NEUTRAL WHILE IN THE PASSING LANE. WITH NO POWER I ALMOST HAD A CAR REAR END ME BEFORE I COULD PUT ON MY FLASHERS AND PULL OVER. WHEN I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT ACTED NORMAL FOR A WHILE. BEFORE ARRIVING HOME THE VEHICLE DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER HAD STARTED LEAKING AND THE VEHICLE WAS LOW IN TRANSMISSION FLUID. HOWEVER, WITH THIS VEHICLE THERE IS NO WAY TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL AND THERE WAS NOT A LOT OF FLUID LEAKAGE FOUND WHERE CAR IS NORMALLY PARKED. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED!
AT VARIOUS TIMES, WHEN CAR IS CRANKED AND PUT INTO DRIVE, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GETS STUCK IN GEAR AND GEARS DO NOT CHANGE AUTOMATICALLY. VERY LITTLE POWER WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE FROM BEING STOPPED. HOWEVER WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF AND CRANKED BACK UP IT SOMETIMES RESETS THE ISSUE ELECTRONICALLY.
HAVING ISSUES WITH GEAR SHIFTING AND THE MAJOR COMPLAINT IS THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WITHOUT WARNING AND I HAVE HAD VEHICLE IN MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND NO ANSWERS. TRANSMISSION COOLER/CONDENSER LEAK CAUSES LOSS OF TRANMISSION FLUID BUT YOU CAN'T CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL BECAUSE THERE IS A TAMPER PROOF CAP ON THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL DIP STICK. TRANSMISSION GOT HOT, TRUCK SLIPPED GEARS AND LOSS OF FORWARD MOMENTUM CONTROL. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED ITEM BUT IS NOT.

TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK COMING FROM A/C CONDENSER/TRANSMISSION COOLER. SIGNIFICANT LEAKAGE LEADING TO POOR TRANSMISSION PERFORMANCE SUCH AS SLIPPAGE AND VEHICLE JERKING ON ACCELERATION OR DECELERATION. ALSO JERKS WHEN PUTTING INTO GEAR FROM PARK.

TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK COMING FROM A/C CONDENSER/TRANSMISSION COOLER. SIGNIFICANT LEAKAGE OCCURRING LEADING TO PROBLEMATIC TRANSMISSION PERFORMANCE SUCH AS SLIPPAGE AND VEHICLE JERKING ON ACCELERATION OR DECELERATION. IT APPEARS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS OF JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND THIS TYPE OF COMPONENT FAILURE SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF UNDER A MANUFACTURER RECALL OF THE PROBLEMATIC AREAS BEFORE SERIOUS ISSUES ARISE.

HAD TO HAVE ALTERNATOR AND BATTER REPLACED AT 54,000 MILES. TWO WEEKS AFTER COMPLETING THIS REPAIR, THE BATTER LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. AFTER TURNING OFF ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO REPAIR SHOP. UPON INSPECTION BY THE MECHANIC, THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WAS NO LONGER WORKING. THE MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. IN ADDITION, 3 DAYS LATER, THE ALTERNATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE.
TAKATA RECALL LEATHER ON THE DASHBOARD COMES LOOSE, I'VE TAKEN IT TO JEEP TO REPAIR AND IT HAPPEND AGAIN. THE ADHESIVE DISSOLVES AND MAKES THE LEATHER BUNCH UP. THE FRONT LEFT HEADLIGHT BLINKS FOR A FEW SECONDS EVERY TIME ENGINE STARTS. ENGINE STALLS AND DOESN'T START AT TIMES.

THE ABILITY TO MANUALLY DOWNSHIFT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING ANYWHERE FAILED AT ABOUT 63,000 MILES. THIS NECESSITATES THE USE OF ONLY THE BRAKES TO SLOW THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING DOWN HILL. BECAUSE THE BRAKE ROTORS ARE UNDERSIZED, THIS CAUSES THE ROTORS TO WARP.

A WEEK AGO MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON IN MY CAR ON MY WAY HOME. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME BEFORE IT DIED. WE DROVE MY CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT WE ALWAYS GO TO GET IT DIAGNOSED. MY MECHANIC SAID I MADE IT JUST IN TIME BECAUSE WHEN THEY WENT TO START MY VEHICLE IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. THEY DIAGNOSED THAT I HAD A BAD BATTERY AND REPLACED IT. THEY ALSO IDENTIFIED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD AND SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT (I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS PART THOUGH). MY CAR WAS TOWED TO A NEARBY CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEY COMPLETED ALL THE OPEN RECALLS ON IT, INCLUDING THE ALTERNATOR BELT. THEN MY CAR WAS TOWED BACK TO MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. AFTER MY MECHANIC RAN MY CAR FOR 20 MINUTES THE CAR SHUT OFF AND IT WAS FOUND THAT THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE SHORTED. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO REPORT THE ISSUE. IT HAS BEEN OVER A WEEK AND I HAVE SPOKEN TO 5 DIFFERENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENTS. EVERY SINGLE ONE HAS TOLD ME SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND A DIFFERENT PROCESS I HAVE TO FOLLOW. MY CAR HAS BEEN TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND JUST SITTING THERE. IT HAS BEEN OVER A WEEK SINCE I HAVE HAD MY CAR. I JUST HEARD FROM A CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT TODAY THAT THE CAR HAS TO BE DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE TO DECLARE THAT THE PCM IS NOT WORKING. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER THAT. THE ONLY INDICATION IS THE LOSS OF ENGINE NOISE, POWER STEERING AND CONFIRMING USING THE TACHOMETER. THIS CONDITION COULD LEAD TO A REAR COLLISION ON A BUSY ROAD WAY, A ROADWAY WITH NO BREAKDOWN LANE OR TRAPPED IN A CENTER LAND OF A MULTILANE ROAD. PRIOR TO THE CURRENT STALLING REPAIRS PER R09 / NHTSA 15V-115 WERE IMPLEMENTED. THE REPAIRS MAY NOT BEEN EFFECTIVE.

ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR HOME AFTER THIS OCCURRED, IT AGAIN SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL WHILE I WAS GOING ABOUT 30MPH ON A CITY STREET. WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE ENGINE REVVED LOUDLY, BUT GAVE ME NO POWER TO MOVE FORWARD. AGAIN I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. JEEP IS DENYING THAT THERE IS A DANGEROUS TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH THIS CAR, BUT I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS STATEMENTS ONLINE FROM JEEP OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME THING. THE JEEP WAS TOWED TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SAID THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND THAT HE HAD TO UNPLUG IT FROM THE BATTERY SINCE IT WAS STILL PRODUCING EXCESSIVE HEAT HOURS AFTER IT ARRIVED THERE. I THEN CALLED THE FCA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND REFERENCED RECALL T36, SINCE THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AS THE DESCRIPTION PROVIDED (ALTHOUGH I DID NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS ON MY VIN). THEY PUT ME IN TOUCH WITH THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP TO SET UP AN APPT SO I PAID FOR ANOTHER TOW THERE. THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVE A CALL FROM THE SERVICE DEPT THAT MY ALTERNATOR FAILED, WHICH DRAINED MY BATTERY, WHICH BROKE MY MODULE POWERTRAIN CONTROL COMPUTER TOTALING $2,134 IN REPAIRS. THEY CANNOT CONFIRM NOR DENY THAT MY JEEP IS PART OF RECALL T36, BUT REGARDLESS SINCE MY VIN DOES NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS ON IT, THAT I HAVE TO PAY IN FULL AND THAT IF DOWN THE ROAD THERE IS A RECALL THAT I WILL GET REIMBURSED. I THEN CALL THE FCA CUSTOMER SERVICE BACK AND THEY CHECK THEIR INTERNAL SYSTEM AND CONFIRM THAT I AM NOT PART OF RECALL T36 AND THERE ARE NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS FOR MY JEEP.

THE VOLTAGE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAULTY ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE PARTS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE COMPUTER WAS DAMAGED AND COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND THERE WAS AN ALTERNATOR RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO JT CHRYSLER DODGE RAM OF LEXINGTON (LOCATED AT 4838 SUNSET BLVD, LEXINGTON, SC 29072 (803) 957-2010) FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V674000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,002.
WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY, BATTERY WARNING LIGHT LIT UP, FOLLOWED BY (INCORRECT) ERROR MESSAGES ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MENU THAT DRIVER SEATBELT WAS UNFASTENED. ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT IN THE VEHICLE CEASED OPERATION, INCLUDING AC AND STEREO. I PULLED OFF OF FREEWAY AND OPENED HOOD TO FIND THE ALTERNATOR SMOKING HEAVILY. THIS WAS THE EXACT SAME FAILURE SITUATION DESCRIBED IN CHRYSLER RECALL P60, BUT BECAUSE MY ALTERNATOR WAS 180AMP INSTEAD OF 160AMP, IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE P60 RECALL. THE ALTERNATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE ALTERNATOR FAILURE ALSO RESULTED IN A BLOWN-OUT PCM, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FAILURE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED A CAR FIRE, OR TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. CHRYSLER RECALL P60 SHOULD INCLUDE THE 180AMP ALTERNATORS, AS WELL, BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE SAME FAULT AND SAFETY ISSUES.

EXPERIENCED LOUD WHINNING FROM ALTERNATOR WHILE DRIVING IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO FAILURE. ULTIMATE FAILURE OCCURED AS CAR PULLED INTO PARKING SPOT. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE EXPERIENCED BY 160 AMP ALTERNATOR UNDER RECALL. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CHRYSLER/JEEP SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THESE ISSUES.

MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS THE 3.6 LITER PENTASTAR V6 WITH THE 5 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IT HAS THE QUADRA TRAC 1 FULL-TIME 4X4 SYSTEM. THE TRANSMISSION IS VERY "CLUNKY" AND FEELS UNSURE OF WHAT IT SHOULD BE DOING. UPSHIFTS COME EARLY, AT LOW SPEED AND RPM'S. OFTEN THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE, BUT SOMETIMES CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO FEEL EXTREMELY UNDERPOWERED. PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR FURTHER WILL EVENTUALLY RESULT IN A DOWNSHIFT AND A RESULTING CLUNK IN THE DRIVELINE. LOW SPEED DRIVING ON CURVY ROADS IS NOT A NICE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS VEHICLE. DOWNSHIFTS ARE ABRUPT AND ANYTHING BUT SMOOTH. THERE IS OFTEN A CLUNK THAT CAN BE HEARD AND FELT WHILE DECELERATING FOR AN UPCOMING CURVE. THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE THE FEELING IS RIDING WITH A PERSON WHO IS LEARNING TO DRIVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME. NOT SURE IF THIS COMPLAINT IS RECALL WORTHY, BUT I WORRY THE TRANSMISSIONS INDECISIVENESS IS GOING TO PREMATURELY WEAR THE DRIVELINE COMPONENTS. PERHAPS A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE A GOOD PLACE TO START.

3/28/2015 (20,924 MILES): THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS STALLED WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE AFTER STARTING. I STARTED THE JEEP AND PUT IT IN REVERSE AND I BEGAN TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND IT STALLED. HOWEVER, WHEN I LOOKED AT THE DISPLAY SHOWED THAT THE JEEP WAS IN PARK, HOWEVER THE SHIFT LEVER WAS STILL IN REVERSE, AND THE RADIO WAS STILL ON LIKE THE CAR ELECTRONICS WERE ON. HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND COMPLAINED BUT THE RESPONSE HAS BEEN THAT WHEN THEY TOOK IT OUT TO TEST DRIVE IT, IT WAS FINE AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO KEEP IT AND DO SEVERAL TEST DRIVES TO SEE IF IT WILL REPLICATE THE SITUATION. BECAUSE I NEED MY VEHICLE TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK EACH DAY AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO PAY FOR A RENTAL OR PROVIDE A LOANER, THAT ISN'T POSSIBLE. I DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS TO RENT A CAR AND PAY A CAR NOTE. I RECEIVED THE RECALL FOR THE ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES SO HOPEFULLY MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BRAKE NEEDING TO BE PUSHED ON FIRMLY WILL GO WAY WHEN THE PART'S COME IN (HUGE BACK ORDER, ON WAITING LIST FOR PARTS). MY ISSUE WITH THE JEEP IS THAT I BELIEVE IT HAS AN DESIGN AND ENGINEERING FLAW. THIS VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE SHIFT LEVER IS IN DRIVE THE LEVER IF BUMPED ACCIDENTALLY TO THE LEFT IT WILL DOWN SHIFT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I WAS TRAVELING IN EXCESS OF 65 MPH'S THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AND DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT HAD CAUSED THE DOWNSHIFT. THIS IS VERY HARD ON THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE NOT TO SAY A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I'M LEFT HANDED AND DRIVE SUCH, MANY TIMES I HAVE CAUGHT THE RIGHT SLEEVE OF MY SHIRT ON THE SHIFT LEVER AND HAVE CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO DOWNSHIFT . IN EITHER THE 5TH OR 6TH GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION/DRIVE TRAIN SHUTTERS WHEN ASCENDING A MODEST GRADE AT A STEADY SPEED BETWEEN 50 AND 65 MPH. INITIALLY THERE WAS A POWER LOSS AND THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO GO INTO NEUTRAL MOMENTARILY. CHRYSLER REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSOR, TORQUE CONVERTER AND SEVERAL FLUIDS AND FILTERS. THIS HAS HELPED, BUT THE SHUTTERING REMAINS. CHRYSLER MAINTAINS THE CONDITION IS NORMAL, AND, IF THE SHUTTERING IS BOTHERSOME, THE CAR SHOULD BE PUT IN THE "TOW/HAUL" MODE EVEN IF NOTHING IS BEING TOWED AND ONLY THE DRIVER IS IN THE CAR. I BOUGHT MY BAND NEW 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND 7 MONTHS AGO - BRAND NEW FROM THE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP AND ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT IT I STARTED TO NOTICE THE ACCELERATION IS NOT 100%, THE WINDOWS STOP ROLLING UP OR DOWN FOR HOURS AT A TIME AT RANDOM TIME, THE BRAKES SOMETIMES DON'T WORK ALL THE WAY, THE ENGINE JUMPS WHEN SWITCHING GEARS AND MOST RECENTLY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE RPMS WOULD NOT GO PAST 1.5 EVEN WHEN FLOORING IT & THERE WERE LOUD CLICKING NOISES WITH A LOUD FAN. THIS TIME I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP - I HAD TO TOW IT IN BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SHIP 3 TIMES FOR THEM TO CHECK ON THESE THINGS & EVERYTIME I TAKE IT IN THEY TELL ME THEY ARE "UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEMS" & CANNOT HELP ME. I HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES TO COMPLAIN & REPORT ISSUES AND THEY EITHER TELL ME THEY CANNOT HELP ME, THEY PUT ME ON HOLD FOR AN INFINITE AMOUNT OF TIME, I GO TO VOICEMAIL, OR NO ONE IS AVAILABLE. THEY CALLED ME TODAY, AFTER HAVING IT FOR 4 DAYS, AND TOLD ME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FOR A "EVAP PERG SYSTEM" SO THEY REPLACED A HOSE & UPDATED MY POWER CONTROL MODULE AS A PRECAUTION. WHEN I ASKED THEM HOW THIS HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY ENGINE PROBLEMS HE COULD NOT EXPLAIN IT. WHEN I ASKED HIM WHY MY ENGINE HAS PROBLEMS HE COULD NOT EXPLAIN IT. NO ONE THERE WANTS TO HELP ME - WHAT I FEEL LIKE THEY ARE DOING IS GIVING ME EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE IN THE BOOK, STALLING ME FOR AS LONG AS THEY CAN UNTIL MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT. I STARTED THE ENGINE OF MY 2012 JEEP AND AS SOON I BEGAN TRAVELING WITH THE JEEP FLUIDS POURED FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ENGINE. I DID NOT NOTICE THIS UNTIL I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING 10 MINUTES. THE COMPUTER DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF AN ERROR OR ENGINE TROUBLE. WHEN I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND LOOKED UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR I SAW A STEADY STREAM OF ORANGE LIQUID POURING FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ENGINE. THIS FLUID WAS ENGINE COOLANT. I IMMEDIATELY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL CHRYSLER SERVICE STATION. MY JEEP HAS BEEN WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR OVER TWO WEEKS NOW. THE JEEP CANNOT BE FIXED DUE THE FACT THAT CHRYSLER HAS NO SPARE PARTS. *TR

THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND THE TECHNICIAN UPDATED THE COMPUTER. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,200.
