Owner Complaints (11)
Your brake pedal went to the floor, and when you inspected underneath, you found extensive rust on the rear axle subframe—so severe the dealer said it could fall off. You discovered a factory recall for this issue, but the manufacturer refused to repair it despite having done similar repairs for other vehicles, claiming you should have received notice on your own. The dealer also refused to lift the car, citing safety concerns about the subframe failing.

Your car has significant rust damage to the subframe that your mechanic says makes it unsafe to drive, but Hyundai never notified you of a recall for this issue. You've already had to pay out of pocket to replace failed brake lines, the alternator, power steering pump, and front suspension components. Hyundai has not responded to your concerns about covering these repair costs.

Your car's rear suspension cross member has cracked in two places due to rust. This is a structural issue that affects your suspension's ability to keep the wheels properly aligned and supported. Multiple owners of similar vehicles have reported this same problem, and the dealer indicated they cannot help with repairs. You may need to contact a independent mechanic or body shop for repair options, which will likely involve replacing or welding the damaged cross member.

After recently replacing the ball joint and control arm, you noticed the rear subframe is severely rusted. Although your car's body and engine run well, the rust on the subframe raises safety concerns, especially since you transport grandchildren in the vehicle. The fix would likely involve inspecting the subframe for structural integrity and potentially replacing or reinforcing the rusted sections.

WE WERE DRIVING THE CAR WHEN THE REAR END STARTED SWAYING WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO A BUSY MAIN STREET. WE HAD A MECHANIC SHOP LOOK UNDERNEATH AND THEY FOUND THAT THE ENTIRE REAR SUBFRAME HAD COME APART DUE TO CORROSION.
REAR SUBFRAME HAS COLLAPSED AND DISCONNECTED FROM THE UNIBODY SUDDENLY DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION. CAR IS ONLY 12 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 150,000 MILES ON IT. COLLAPSE IS SUDDEN AND MAKES THE CAR DIFFICULT TO STEER AND CAN RESULT IN ERRATIC MOVEMENTS IN HANDLING.
