had to put in 5qts of oil due to engine is burning the oil just had oil change 9/17/23

Engine went through 5 qts of oil and had to refill on 8/31/23 had the oil changed by Hiley Hyundai on 6/17/23 they entered the wrong mileage during the engine consumption test

had the oil consumption test done it failed and has been putting oil into the engine every 1000 miles or less due to engine burring up the oil had Hiley Hyundai due and oil change on 6/17/23 had to add 5qt of oil to engine on this day

Engine went in for the second oil consumption test on 6/17/23 where Hiley Hyundai did not record the correct mileage they put that mileage at that time was 123,893 when it should have read 126161 ( which was 4k miles more than the time of this report) than that therefore it lead Hyundai to believe that the engine was not burning oil and we was in the write mileage due to human error we was denied a new engine and because this is the only car that we have at this time and Hiley has no loaners and we are in CH 13 Bankruptcy we do not have the funds to rent car out

I was taking the car doing the oil consumption test for the 3rd time and I had just got it out the shop one hour before this happen

I have a 2017 Hyundai Sonata I bought brand new. My car started burning oil where I was having to put oil every time I put gas which is weekly. I did the oil consumption test where I drove it 1000 miles 3 times and it burned 1.75qts, 2 qts, and 2.75 qts.

Was serviced by Hyundai in March 2023 to for oil sensor light but was really the oil was being burnt inside the engine Hyundai ran 2 oil consumption test in May 2023 and June 2023 which the car failed both. Service manger sent paperwork to Hyundai letting them know that engine was faulty because paperwork was summited with the wrong mileage the replacement of the engine has not happen.

Persistent oil loss - requires constant refilling

Engine has been burring oil from the car went to get an oil change on 9-17-2023 last night engine light came on 10-04-23 there was no oil in the engine and dipstick was dry this has been happening now since March of 2023 Hyundai has been made aware of this problem by there own service team.

The car just shut down, while driving. An wouldnt restart or even roll over.

Engine burns oil at a very high rate. I can’t even make it to the recommended oil change mileage before it is completely out of oil and that is very unsafe. I have to either fill it up with oil or pay for a new oil change when it is not needed.

The motor in the car is shot it's a 2017 sonata with 153000 miles on it I thought there was a recall on the engines

Engine consumes way to much oil got oil changed and a week later it was almost empty when I checked. This has been an ongoing issue for many years already.

The engine is consuming (burning) the engine oil at a excessive rate. Engine oil has to be added almost every 1000 miles. Talked to multiple mechanics and learnt that it is a common problem with Hyundai.

My engine is consuming oil at a high rate of more than a quart per 1000 miles. I went 3k between oil changes had 2 quarts added at about 1500 miles and was still low at the end of the 3k. Hyundai claims this is normal.

Car was bought in march of 2022 and has had major oil problems since . The oil needs to be changed / filled every 2 weeks . Was taken to a proper mechanic shop where it was stated the car is consuming large amounts of oil and it’s burning leaving the oil level bone dry .mechanic stated the oil most likely was leaving through the tail pipe / exhaust on a blue kinda of smoke .

At first it was knocking softly and progressively getting louder than the engine blew on my way picking my son up

Last year in March 2021 I have a problem with the oil and the engine. The oil is burning internal and the engine wouldn't go pass 60 miles. This was reported the McGrath City Hyundai in chicago.

The oil burns way to fast in these cars because of the engine there should definitely be a recall to asses this situation as I’m not the only one with this problem. This is a problem for Hyundai owners as you have to replace your oil even when the car states you have about 3K MILES left before a refill.

In May 2021,the car began using excessive oil powered down with engine knocking, ticking, and missing when acceleration was tried. We regularly change the oil and it was using a quart of oil every 2,000 miles. We took it to Hyundai and they reset the chip.

I have a recall hyundai doesnt want to fix did a total of 10 oil consumption test but my car keeps burning oil also my car has also shut off in the middle of driving it. Multiple times I also found out my vehicle had a recall this year not last year they claimed that they put a device on my vehicle but I was unaware of it

I was at a red light and my car just cut off without warning. I put the car in park and started it back up.

Just before 50,000 miles car started using 1/2 a quart of oil every 2500-3000 miles. Car now has 116k miles and is up to 2+ quarts every 2 weeks. Have brought it up and questioned service department at reliable hyundai in springfield mo, and they told me it was normal to use up to a quart every 1000 miles because of the low tension rings they use to get fuel mileage!

2017 hyundai sonata shut down when I came to a stop light. Started car back up and drove 5miles home. The second time it shut down were the next day , driving my car came to a complete stop and car shut down.

2017 sonata sport uses 1/2 qt of oil every 1000 miles

After driving an hour or two, when you stop and fill her up with gas, the car engine will not start after it's full and you're ready to get out on the road again. You have to wait like 20 minutes and maybe more, before the car starts again. Meantime, the gas attendant is already annoyed why you can't move your car?

I was driving and engine started ticking then 2 seconds later oil light came on then car died

For some period of time, now, I have lost engine power, while in motion. It happens sporadically when I cannot press the gas pedal for continuous motion forward. This has been happening on a highway as well as city streets.

Engine turned off when stopped at a stop light. All the lights turned on and I had to put the car in park and turn the car back on. The engine also struggles to start when it is parked in cold air.
