AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION:FRONT PASSENGER
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Pilot, Accord, Civic sedan, HR-V, Odyssey, 2020 Civic coupe, Fit, 2021-2022 Civic hatchback, 2021 Civic Type R, Insight, 2020-2021 CR-V, CR-V Hybrid, Passport, Ridgeline, Accord Hybrid, 2020 Acura MDX, 2022 Acura MDX, 2020-2022 Acura RDX, and 2020-2021 Acura TLX vehicles. The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, failing to suppress the air bag as intended.
Fix: Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 28, 2024, October 18, 2024, and August 2025. This is a phased recall. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for these recalls are XHP and VHQ.
Owner Complaints (26)
Your 2021 Honda Pilot was involved in a frontal crash at 35 mph, but the airbags did not physically deploy even though the car's computer system recorded them as having deployed. This mismatch suggests a problem with the airbag control module, sensors, wiring, or software that prevented the airbags from inflating when needed during the collision. After the accident, an "Airbag System (SRS) Problem" warning appeared on your dashboard. Fixing this will likely require a diagnostic scan of the airbag control module and replacement of faulty sensors, wiring, or the control module itself.

My SRS System's light came on. When I went to the dealership to have it checked, they stated it was an Airbag Seat Sensor that was bad in the passenger side seat. I talked to the warranty people and they stated it was not covered under the warranty and it would cost me over $2000 to repair.

Your wife hit a curb while driving at 40 mph, and the right side curtain airbag deployed from the impact. This is the second time this has happened—your vehicle was previously serviced at a Honda dealership for the same issue under a safety recall that involved replacing a sensor, but the problem has recurred.

My EMS light came on one afternoon while driving home. I took it to the dealer and they stated it was an issue with the air bag system in the passenger side of the vehicle. It would not be covered and would cost me more than $2000 to have it repaired.

Airbag light came ON at 45,000 miles approximately. Took the vehicle to dealership paid for a diagnosis just to be told that it is out of warranty that if I want it fixed had to pay out of pocket $531.69 for SRS unit, plus $1398.98 for a Seat Frame, plus $980.75 for Labor. I just got very surprised that the airbags (a safety feature) is part of the limited warranty.
