Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling specific 2003 Acura 3.2CL, 2013-2016 ILX, 2013-2014 ILX Hybrid, 2003-2006 MDX, 2007-2016 RDX, 2002-2003 3.2TL, 2004-2006, and 2009-2014 TL, 2010-2013 ZDX and 2001-2007 and 2009 Honda Accord, 2001-2005 Civic, 2003-2005 Civic Hybrid, 2001-2005 Civic GX NGV, 2002-2007 and 2010-2011 CR-V, 2003-2011 Element, 2007 Fit, 2002-2004 Odyssey, 2003-2008 Pilot, and 2006-2014 Ridgeline vehicles. The affected vehicles received a replacement driver air bag inflator as part of a previous Takata inflator recall remedy or a replacement driver air bag module containing the same inflator type as a service part. Due to a manufacturing error, in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver frontal air bag, these inflators may explode.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's air bag inflator with an alternate inflator, free of charge. The recall began April 10, 2019. The front passenger air bag may have been installed incorrectly during replacement.

These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front air bags, these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.

Specifically, vehicles sold, or ever registered, in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Saipan, Guam, and American Samoa are addressed by this recall. Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2003 Odyssey vehicles manufactured August 28, 2002, to August 30, 2002. The affected vehicles were manufactured with the incorrect air bag modules, rendering the vehicles noncompliant with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2001-2005 Honda Civic vehicles manufactured March 21, 2000, to January 20, 2005, 2001-2004 Honda Civic GX vehicles manufactured June 14, 2000, to August 19, 2004, 2003-2005 Honda Civic Hybrid vehicles manufactured February 24, 2002, to January 18, 2005, 2003-2007 Honda Accord vehicles manufactured February 21, 2002, to August 28, 2007, 2002-2004 Honda CR-V vehicles, 2002-2003 Honda Odyssey vehicles manufactured June 19, 2001, to July 12, 2003, 2003 Acura MDX vehicles manufactured September 19, 2002, to June 19, 2003, 2003 Honda Element vehicles manufactured June 25, 2002, to July 31, 2003, and 2003 Honda Pilot vehicles manufactured November 26, 2001, to August 21, 2003. The affected vehicles have a passenger side frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture upon its deployment.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on July 1, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Note: Vehicles that have already received a replacement passenger air bag inflator as part of the recall remedy for an earlier campaign such as 14V353 or 14V700 (Honda recall numbers S95, JH6, JH7, JH8, JH9, JJ0, JJ1, JJ2, JJ6, JM5 and JM6) are not included in this recall. However, this recall does supersede 13V132 and 14V349. Honda is recalling certain model year 2003-2004 Honda Odyssey vehicles manufactured February 13, 2002, to August 13, 2004, and 2003 Acura MDX vehicles manufactured February 21, 2002, to September 23, 2003. Due to electrical noise, a component in the air bag control module may fail, causing the front air bags, side air bags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated.
Fix: Honda dealers will replace the supplemental restraint system electronic control unit (SRS ECU). The recall began on February 22, 2016. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009. Honda's number for this recall is JN6 (Odyssey), and JN7 (MDX). Note: This recall supersedes recall 13V-412. Vehicles that had a noise filter installed as the remedy for that campaign need to have the SRS ECU replaced under this campaign.

Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.

The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion and other factors, including manufacturing variability that, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on July 1, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Owners may contact Acura customer service at 1-800-382-2238, select option 4. Note: Vehicles that have had their driver frontal air bag replaced previously as part of a recall remedy prior to September 12, 2014 need to have their air bag replaced under this recall as well. Vehicles that, on or after September 12, 2014, received a remedy for a prior driver frontal air bag inflator recall already received an inflator of a different design, and therefore are not included in this recall and do not require additional servicing. Due to electrical noise, a component in the air bag control module may fail causing the front air bags, side curtain air bags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a noise suppressor unit, free of charge. The recall began on November 1, 2013. A renotification letter went out on July 11, 2014 for the 2003 Acura and the 2003-2004 Odyssey. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009. TAKATA RECALL: BASICALLY I HAVE A HUGE ISSUE REPLACING RECALL ITEMS BECAUSE I LIVE IN A REMOTE COMMUNITY WITH ONLY FERRY ACCESS. THE FERRY CROSSING REQUIRES 6 HOURS EACH WAY AND A 60 MILE DRIVE TO ANCHORAGE ONCE WE REACH THE MAINLAND. THE COST IS $460 RT FOR THE FERRY AND 2 DAYS OF PAY, A HOTEL ROOM, FUEL, FOOD AND OVERTIME FOR MY EMPLOYEE WHO TAKES IT TO A DEALERSHIP. I'M ASKING IF THERE IS A WAY TO ALLOW OUR LOCAL MECHANIC TO DO THESE RECALLS??? I HAVE A CAR RENTAL WITH AT LEAST 12 OF THESE RECALLS OUTSTANDING. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION SYSTEM AND THE STARTING OF IT. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO USE THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS THEY ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF WORKING ORDER. WE HAVE BEEN WORRIED ABOUT IT WAS NOT A SAFE AUTO WITH SMALL CHILDREN.
WE LIVE IN MINNEAPOLIS, WE DROVE THE CAR TO HOUSTON ON 5/112017. OUR CAR WAS IN A CRASH IT HIT THE FRONT CAR AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DAMAGED IN THE FRONT AND HAS BEEN TOTALLED. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND MY WIFE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT , THOUGH WAS WEARING THE SEAT BELT HIT IN FRONT AND HER CHEST HIT THE DASHBOARD AND CAUSED IMMEDIATE PAIN. GENERALLY INCIDENTS LIKE THIS THE AIRBAGS SHOULD BE DEPLOYED FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. THE CAR WAS RECALLED ONCE AND THE HONDA DEALER IN WHITE BEAR LAKE SAID THE AIRBAGS WERE REPLACED BUT STILL THEY DID NOT WORK.

TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED THE NOTICE FOR NHTSA RECALL 16V-344 IN JUNE OF 2016. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT WAIKEM HONDA IN MASSILLON OHIO TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK DONE. THIS APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR THE MORNING OF JULY 9TH, 2016. AFTER I MADE THE 40 + MILE DRIVE TO WAIKEM, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT ORDER THE PART TO DO THE WORK. I WAS OFFERED NO APOLOGY, ACCOMMODATION, OR REASONABLE SOLUTION. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR, I WAS QUITE SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT I WAS SPEAKING WITH HIM ALREADY. DISGUSTED WITH THEIR COMPLETE LACK OF COMPETENCE OR CUSTOMER SERVICE, I USED THEIR PHONE TO CALL PARK HONDA IN AKRON. I LET THEM KNOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THEY GOT ALL OF MY INFORMATION AND TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME OUT THAT DAY, BUT WOULD GET THE PART IN, AND THEN CALL ME TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. FIVE MONTHS LATER I HAVE NOT HEARD A THING FROM EITHER HONDA DEALER. I HAVE ATTACHED A SCREEN SHOT FROM THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT REMINDER FROM WAIKEM HONDA. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.
TAKATA AIRBAG I TOOK MY ODYSSEY TO TWO DEALERSHIPS AND TWO DEALERSHIPS LIED ABOUT REPLACING THE TAKATA AIRBAG. NOW, HONDA IS TELLING ME THAT THEY DON'T HAVE AIRBAGS AND CAN'T DO THE REPAIR. THEY NEVER HAD THE AIRBAGS, THEY LIED ABOUT INSTALLING THEM AND I CAN'T EVEN SELL THIS THING LEGALLY AS IT WAS ILLEGALLY SOLD TO ME, THERE IS NOT TEETH NOR TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE IN THIS RECALL THAT CAN AND WILL CAUSE MORE DEATHS. ON FEBRUARY 14, 2015, I BROUGHT MY HONDA ODYSSEY IN TO A DEALER FOR AN AIRBAG RECALL. TWO DAYS AFTER I GOT IT FIXED MY SRS LIGHT CAME ON WHEN IN DRIVE AND STAYED ON. I CALLED AND MADE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT CONCERNING THE LIGHT. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ODS UNIT HAD FAILED AND THAT IT WAS LISTED AS A RECALL AS WELL. I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD BE ALL SET. HOWEVER WHEN I WENT TO HAVE IT FIXED I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME $146.48. I THEN BROUGHT THE PART AND HAD IT INSTALLED BY A HONDA DEALERSHIP WORKER. AFTER THE REPAIR THE LIGHT DID NOT OFF. ON APRIL 30, 2016 I BROUGHT MY CAR BACK FOR THE FINAL RECALL NOTICE AND TO FIND OUT WHY THE LIGHT HAD NOT GONE OFF. THIS TIME THEY SAID IT WAS THE SENSOR. THEY SAID IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET. MY PROBLEM IS THAT MY SRS LIGHT WAS NOT ON BEFORE THEY MESSED WITH THE AIRBAGS IN CONNECTION WITH THE RECALL. IF THEY MISDIAGNOSED MY CAR AND ON TOP OF THAT ALREADY MADE ME PAY $146.48 FOR A NEW OPDS UNIT (WHICH AT FIRST THEY SAID WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL) WHY SHOULD I BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEM? THEY CAUSED THE PROBLEM WHEN THE FIXED THE 'RECALL'. I AM VERY UNHAPPY AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE. WITH THIS LIGHT BEING ON I FEEL AS THOUGH MY AIRBAG CAN DEPLOY AT ANY TIME, PUTTING MY LIFE IN JEOPARDY. I AM ALSO A TEACHER AND USE MY VAN TO TRANSPORT CHILDREN FROM TIME TO TIME. MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF THE CHILDREN ARE MY NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. TAKATA RECALL. AS I WAS REACHED A STOP ZONE IN FRONT OF A SCHOOL PEDESTRIAN CROSSING ON 4/11/16, I HEARD A LOUD BOOM LIKE AN EXPLOSION ON MY MINIVAN. THE SOUND WAS EXTREMELY LOUD AND MADE MY EARS HURT AND I WAS DISORIENTED. I LOOKED AROUND THRU THE WINDOW AND REAR VIEW MIRRORS BUT I DIDN'T SEE ANYONE HITTING OR ANY TYPE OF COLLISION WITH ANY OBJECT OR ERWIN. I THEN FELT FABRIC TOUCHING MY LEFT ARM AND SAW THE SIDE AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED ON HEIR OWN. BOTH DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SIDE AIRBAGS WERE OUT OF THE SEAT AND DEPLETED . MY 2 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE SECOND ROW SEAT BEHIND ME AND MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS SITTING ON THE SECOND ROW SEAT BEHIND THE PASSENGER SIDE. THEY WERE SCARED AND I DROVE THE VAN TO MY HOUSE ABOUT 1.5 BLOCKS AWAY. I HAVE A CONTINUOS RINGING IN MY LEFT EAR SINCE THAT DAY. MY PRIMARY MD HAS REFERRED ME TO AUDIOLOGY SPECIALIST. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP AT THE PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY IN FRONT OF SILVERWING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN AREY DR. IN SAN DIEGO CA. I HAVE NOT MOVED THE CAR FROM MY HOME DRIVEWAY AFRAID THAT THE FRONT AIRBAGS COULD DEPLOY THE SAME WAY. I CONTACTED HONDA AND THEY WANT TO TOE THE CAR TO A DEALER TOMORROW 4/15/16 TO PLACE THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER AND EVALUATE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND HOW TO CORRECT IT.

THE SRS LIGHT IN MY VEHICLE IS COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. HONDA DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A SWITCH IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT. PAGE 53 OF MY VEHICLE OWNERS MANUAL CLEARLY STATES THE FOLLOWING: "HONDA PROVIDES A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON SEAT BELTS. HONDA WILL REPAIR OR REPLACE ANY SEAT BELT COMPONENT THAT FAILS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY DURING NORMAL USE." AS SUCH, THE AFOREMENTIONED SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH IS A COMPONENT OF THE SEAT BELT. HOWEVER, HONDA REFUSES TO COVER REPAIR TO MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN, AS ACCORDING TO MY MANUAL, AN SRS INDICATOR LIGHT MAY CAUSE CERTAIN AIRBAGS NOT TO DEPLOY DURING A COLLISION. SUCH AN EVENT WOULD SURELY CAUSE CLEARLY PREVENTABLE BODILY HARM IF THEY WOULD JUST HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. I'M CALLING ON THE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE, AS I HAVE FOUND MANY OTHERS IN ONLINE FORUMS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, WITH MIXED RESULTS FROM HONDA.
ON OCTOBER 5, 2015 I WAS HIT BY A VEHICLE AS I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET TO GET HOME. I WAS DRIVING AT AT THE SPEED LIMIT OF 35 MPH. MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND EXPLODED. MY FRONT PASSENGER AND I WERE HURT AS A RESULT OF THE EXPLOSION FOR A FEW WEEKS AFTER THE ACCIDENT. MY BREATHING COMPLICATIONS WERE FROM THE POWDER IN THE AIR BAGS THAT EXPLODED IN MY FACE. MY FRONT PASSENGER HAD A FRACTURED TO THE AREA THE AIR BAG EXPLODED ALONE WITH THE POWDER THAT WAS INHALED FROM THE AIR BAGS.

HONDA HAS BEEN TRYING TO FIX THE 4 RECALL PROBLEMS ON FOUR DIFFERENT REPAIR ATTEMPTS SINCE MARCH OF 2015, ALL REGARDING THE AIR BAG RECALLS. THEY ARE STILL NOT FIXED AND THERE IS STILL AN OPEN RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE IS STILL AT HONDA OF CORONA. I HAVE HAD 4 DIFFERENT LOANER CARS AND STILL HAVE A LOANER BECAUSE OF HONDA NOT HAVING THE PARTS TO REPAIR MINE. HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT CORONA AND RIVERSIDE ARE DEPLORABLE. I HAVE HAD THE POLICE INVOLVED IN ONE INCIDENT IN RIVERSIDE AND WAS TOLD SORRY I NEED TO TAKE MY DEFECTIVE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. "BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE THEY WANT TO". I WAS TOLD BY [XXX] THE SERVICE MANAGER AT HONDA OF CORONA THAT REPAIRING MY RECALLED VEHICLE WAS OUT OF THEIR "GRACIOUSNESS" AND THAT REPAIRING THESE AIRBAG RECALLS WAS A COURTESY AND NOT A REQUIREMENT. I KNOW BETTER THAN WHAT HE TOLD ME AND ALSO DID MY RESEARCH INTO THIS. HONDA IS TRYING THEIR BEST TO GET OUT OF REPAIRING THESE RECALLS. PROBABLY BECAUSE THEY ARE LOSING MONEY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS AND CANNOT HANDLE A RECALL OF THIS MAGNITUDE. ON FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2015, THE AIRBAGS ON OUR 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY DEPLOYED WITHOUT ACCIDENT OR APPARENT CAUSE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN (15) MILES PER HOUR ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. THE PHYSICAL IMPACT OF THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYMENT CAUSED BLEEDING, SEVERE SCRAPES AND CONTUSIONS TO MY WIFE'S (THE DRIVER'S) LEFT ARM. ALTHOUGH VERY TRAUMATIC AND PAINFUL, WE CONSIDER THIS A VERY FORTUNATE OUTCOME GIVEN THAT THIS INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED MORE SEVERE INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH HAD IT OCCURRED: (1) AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED OR IN CROWDED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS OR (2) HAD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITH EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE CAUSING THEIR INFLATORS TO RUPTURE. VEHICLE, INCLUDING TIRES, WERE WELL MAINTAINED; TIRES WERE BALANCED, ROTATED PERIODICALLY AND MONITORED BIWEEKLY FOR THE CORRECT LEVEL OF AIR PRESSURE. THE WHEELS WERE ALIGNED. ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15TH, AT APPROXIMATELY 7:00 PM, I WAS DRIVING OUR 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH MY FAMILY WHEN WE EXPERIENCED A SPONTANEOUS AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WHILE WAITING AT A STOPLIGHT. THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OR BEHIND US AND I WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED FIRST WITH A LOUD "POP". TWO TO THREE SECONDS LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED (WHERE MY WIFE WAS SITTING). FORTUNATELY, BOTH OF US WERE SITTING BACK IN OUR SEATS AND I HAD MY HANDS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL. NEITHER OF US WERE CONTACTED BY THE AIRBAGS THERE WAS A THIRD LOUD "POP" A COUPLE OF SECONDS AFTER THE DEPLOYMENTS. THE SEATBELT TENSIONERS ALSO ENGAGED AND NOW DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CONFIRMED THAT WE HAD NOT BEEN STRUCK BY ANYONE OR ANYTHING. I BROUGHT THE VAN INTO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR AN INSPECTION, WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED IT A LITTLE MORE THAN TWO YEARS EARLIER. THE INSPECTION REPORT STATES THAT, "DURING SERVICE INSPECTION DID NOT LOCATE ANY OBVIOUS IMPACTS AND/OR DAMAGE." THE DEALERSHIP PULLED CODES 53-41 AND 54-50, BUT SAID THEY COULD NOT GET ANYMORE INFORMATION FROM THE SRS UNIT UNTIL WE HAD THEM REPLACE THE AIRBAGS. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THEN GAVE US A QUOTE OF OVER $4100 TO FIX THE AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS. I CONTACTED HONDA OF AMERICA AND ASKED THAT THE CAUSE FOR THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER. IT TOOK ALMOST A MONTH TO GET A CORPORATE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP AS THE FIRST INSPECTION. LAST NIGHT I RECEIVED THE RESULTS OF THE SECOND INSPECTION, WHICH GAVE NO POTENTIAL REASONS FOR THE DEPLOYMENT. WE LEFT THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP, ASKING FOR MORE SPECIFIC DOCUMENTATION ON POTENTIAL CAUSES. AFTER HITTING A TREE/ROAD SIGN FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE DRIVER DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WHICH CAUSED A COLLISION WITH TWO VEHICLES THAT WERE STOPPED AHEAD. THE DRIVER HAD TO FORCE THE VEHICLE INTO PARK TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE FRONT AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED TOTALED. *JB *SC
CONSUMER STATES WHILE DRIVING AT 60MPH THE VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER NOTIFIED.
