ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:FRONT UNDERHOOD
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MINI VANS. A WIRE HARNESS, LOCATED WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, COULD BE DAMAGED BY CONTACT WITH A METAL PIPE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A BLOWN FUSE.
Fix: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A PROTECTIVE COVERING OVER THE WIRE HARNESS AND METAL PIPE TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM. IF ANY WIRES ARE DAMAGED, THE DEALER WILL MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS, AND THEN INSTALL THE PROTECTIVE COVERING.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 00V030000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE BATTERY ON MY HONDA ODYSSEY WAS FOUND DEAD THIS MORNING. THIS IS MORE THAN 10 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS AND MORE THAN 50 TIMES SINCE I GOT IT IN 2007. HAVE HAD THE BATTERY REPLACE AND STILL NO IMPROVEMENT. READING ON THE INTERNET SUGGEST A HONDA ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT THEY DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE. A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. LETTING THE ODYSSEY SIT FOR AN HOUR OR TWO SOMEHOW FIXES THE ISSUE AND IT STARTS. VERY FRUSTRATING AND NEED AN AUTHORITY TO PUT PRESSURE ON HONDA. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE VEHICLE ROLLING AWAY AS HE REALIZED THAT THE ALTHOUGH THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, HE FAILED TO ENGAGE THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THE VEHICLE NO LONGER NEEDED TO BE SHIFTED INTO PARK IN ORDER TO PULL THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE WITHIN THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,695 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 122,000.

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER SLIDING DOORS. ON OUR 2000 EXL ODYSSEY, THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOORS CLOSE BUT NOT QUITE ALL THE WAY, IT WILL NOT "ENGAGE", OR "CATCH". THEREFORE, THE VAN THINKS THE DOOR IS STILL OPEN (OPEN DOOR LIGHT IS ON, BUZZES CONTINUALLY WHEN PUT INTO GEAR, AND INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON). I HAVE TO GET OUT AND BUMP THE REAR OF THE DOOR TO GET IT FLUSH. FOR SOME REASON THE BACK LOCK PART ISN'T "CATCHING". *TR

THE CONTACT STATED HER VEHICLE IS NOT STARTING BECAUSE THE IGNITION SWITCH IS DEFECTIVE AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE SHE IS DRIVING. THE DRIVE HAS TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF TO ALLOW THE IGNITION SWITCH TO RESET ITSELF. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
ELECTRIC BACK DOORS ARE INCONSISTENT WITH EITHER NOT OPENING/SHUTTING ALL THE WAY. SOMETIMES WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. NOT SAFE WITH CHILDREN/PERSONS IN BACKSEATS FOR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. HONDA REPAIRED ONCE WHEN UNDER CERTIFIED WARRANTY. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER. VEHICLE NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND HONDA DEALER IS CHARGING ASTRONOMICAL AMOUNT TO REPAIR. SLIDING DOOR FAILURES: 8/2005 PASSENGER DOOR FAILING TO OPEN. TOOK TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED DOOR CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY. THIS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THE CAR HAS "OLD TYPE" DOOR SWITCHES AND THESE MOST LIKELY WILL FAIL AND THEN HAVE TO BE REPLACED WITH "NEW" SWITCHES. COST $361.37 1/2006: DRIVER SLIDING DOOR FAILING TO OPEN. DEALER HAD TO REPLACE SLIDING ROLLER AND JUNCTION SWITCHES AND STOPPER. COST$ 631.35 HAVE HAD TO SPEND ALMOST $1000 IN 5 MONTHS JUST TO GET IN AND OUT OF THE SLIDING DOORS! *NM

FIRST TIME WAS LAST WEEK, THEY SAID THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND HAD TO BE ORDERED. DT: THE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE REAR CYLINDER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT SOUNDED LIKE A LOUD SHOT GUN. THIS HAPPENED ON JULY 10, 2005. HAD NOT CHANGED ANYTHING UNDER HOOD. CONTACTED HONDA, THEY WOULD NOT PAY TO TOW VEHICLE TO DEALER. THE CONSUMER FIXED IT HIMSELF. IT MASSED UP THE IGNITION COIL, SHORTED OUT THE SYSTEM, AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. *AK

USE STATIC GUARD, GROUND WITH KEY IN IGNITION, SPRAY WITH SCOTCH GUARD, HOWEVER, NOTHING REDUCES THE SHOCK! I HATE DRIVING THIS VAN. HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS.
