You took your 2014 Honda Accord to an authorized Honda dealer to have a federally mandated safety recall performed on the driveshaft. The dealer told you they wouldn't complete the recall unless you first paid $708.31 out of pocket to replace both front ball joints, leaving you with no choice but to pay for the additional repair. The owner reports this created a financial barrier to completing a required safety recall.

REAR TIRE WEAR CONSISTENT WITH SUSPENSION ISSUE. REAR TIRES WITH NORMAL TREAD WEAR ARE CHUCKED AND CAUSING VIBRATION. CURRENTLY RUNNING GOODYEAR EAGLE LS-2 TIRES AND THIS IS THE SECOND SET THAT HAVE FAILED IN THIS MANNER.
BOTH OF MY BACK TIRES GOT CUPPING ON THE INSIDE. I TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE OR LACK OF ROTATION. I HAVE CHECKED A COUPLE OF CARS FROM MY NEIGHBORS AND THEY HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THEIR TIRES ARE DAMAGE. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE STRUTS ARE THE PROBLEM.
VERY ROUGH RIDE SPECIALLY IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IT'S BEEN THE SAME SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AT END OF 2014. THE CAR'S SUSPENSION DOES NOT KEEP THE CAR PLANTED AT HIGH SPEEDS, AND ALMOST BOUNCES OFF THE ROAD WITH A MEDIUM SIZE BUMP WHILE EITHER A GRAND MARQUIS OR MUSTANG CAN MANAGE THE SAME BUMP (THE SAME TOLL ROAD 241 HAS THE SAME BUMP ACROSS THE TWO LANES). I WENT OVER THAT BUMP RECENTLY ON A TRIP WITH THE HONDA, REALLY ACCENTUATING THE PROBLEM AND REMINDING ME HOW THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS "FAMILY" SEDAN RIDES ROUGHER THAN MY 2006 MUSTANG GT, ALL DUE TO WHAT I THINK IS THE WRONG SHOCK/STRUT SPEC, WHICH HONDA SHOULD HAVE SORTED OUT BEFORE MASS PRODUCTION.
THERE IS A VERY LOUD HUMMING/ROARING NOISE THAT IS COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL. I THOUGHT IT WAS TIRE RELATED AND WAS TALKED INTO NEW TIRES IN WHICH THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, IT IS LOOKING AS IF THE NOISE IS BEING PRODUCED FROM THE REAR WHEEL BEARING. I CAN TURN SHARPLY TO THE LEFT, RELIEVING PRESSURE/WEIGHT FROM THE LEFT REAR AND THE NOISE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCES. TURNING SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT, (INCREASING PRESSURE TO THE LEFT REAR) INCREASES THE NOISE. IT IS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED BY MY HONDA DEALER. THE NOISE STARTED AT AROUND 35K AND HAS CONTINUALLY GOTTEN WORSE.
SHORTLY AFTER BUYING MY CAR BRAND NEW I HEARD A CLUNK NOISE COME FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL AREA. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. TODAY, AT AROUND 27K MILES THE NOISE HAS EVOLVED INTO A RATTLE WHICH IS HEARD WHILE GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS OR AROUND A SWEEPING RIGHT HAND TURN.
POPPING AND CLUNKING NOISES IN DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT END WERE DUE TO IMPROPERLY TORQUED LOCK NUT ON DRIVER'S SIDE STRUT. DEALER INSPECTED IT AND DETERMINED IT WAS NOT COMPROMISED, SO REINSTALLED IT; THEREFORE IT MUST NOT HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE, BUT IMPROPERLY TORQUED. *TR
WHENEVER I SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE IS A CLICKING SOUND MADE. *TR
THE FIRST TIME I DROVE MY CAR IN THE FREEWAY, AFTER SPEED UP TO 50 OR 55 THE CAR STARTED TO SHIFT TO THE LEFT SIDE STRONGLY MANDATING ME TO PULL THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT SIDE TO KEEP IT IN THE LANE, SO I HAD TO KEEP TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO KEEP THE CAR STRAIGHT. *TR
