SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:SPINDLE
GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 CADILLAC ESCALADE EXT, CHEVROLET AVALANCHE, SILVERADO LD AND GMC SIERRA LD VEHICLES. THE REAR AXLE CROSS PINS WERE NOT PROPERLY HEAT TREATED AND COULD FRACTURE AND BECOME DISPLACED WITHIN THE REAR AXLE. SHOULD THE PIN SHIFT OUT OF POSITION, IT COULD CREATE AN INTERFERENCE CONDITION AND CAUSE THE REAR AXLE TO LOCK.
Fix: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW REAR AXLE CROSS PIN FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 11, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CADILLAC AT 1-866-982-2339, CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, GMC AT 1-866-996-9463 AND AT THE OWNER CENTER AT WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM.

The rear shock absorber mounting bracket has rusted through the truck's frame cross member, causing the top of the shock to be forced against the truck bed. This prevents the shock from moving properly and can affect your truck's suspension performance and handling.

Your truck's frame has developed multiple cracks and holes at 105,000 miles. A dealer inspected it and indicated the structural damage is severe. Fixing frame cracks typically requires welding repairs or frame replacement, which can be extensive and costly.

The main body frame is completely rusting through from under the drivers side door back past the fuel tank. It is rusting through on the passenger side as well. The large amounts of rust have caused other issues throughout the entire body of the truck as well as rusting of other components. The frame of this truck will need to be replaced as there is no way to repair it or the vehicle becomes scrap. This vehicle is available for inspection. These issues were not visible when purchased from the dealer. This issue gradually became visible after the rust and undercoating wore away that had been applied previous to our purchase from a known dealership.
this vehicle was sold by a dealership with these issues the frame has a half inch wide six inch long gap needs a fuel pump control module and the engine needs lifters replaced.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE THAT THE REAR AXLE CROSS PINS FAILED AND CAUSED THE REAR TIRES TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V007000 (SUSPENSION). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
IN 2017 BEFORE MY VEHICLE COMPLETING TWO YEARS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE AT (70,000 KM) THE VEHICLE START SHUDDERING WHEN ACCELERATING AT LOW SPEED, WHEN THE SERVICE WAS DUE I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR SERVICE & COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SHUDDERING ISSUE, AFTER DIAGNOSING THE VEHICLE THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER, SO THEY DID REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER UNDER WARRANTY AFTER FIXING THE TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE I FOUND TRACE OF OIL IN FRONT DRIVER SIDE & AGAIN WHEN THE SERVICE WAS DUE I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE LEAK, AFTER DIAGNOSING THE FOUND THAT THE SHOCK ABSORBER IS LEAKING, BUT THEY DIDN'T REPLACE IT BECAUSE IT'S NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY AS THEY SAID IT'S CONSIDERED AS CONSUMABLE PARTS, VERY STRANGE FOR A SHOCK TO LEAK IN LESS THAN THREE YEARS CONSIDERING THAT I DIDN'T EVEN DRIVE IT IN OFFF ROAD, & THIS IS NOT THE FIRST VEHICLE I OWN, ALL THE VEHICLES I OWNED DIDN'T LEAK FOR TWENTY YEARS, SORRY I KNOW IT'S CONSUMABLE PART BUT I AM NOT CONVINCED BY THESE WORDS, THERE MUST BE A PROBLEM WITH THE SHOCKS, ANYWAY I DECIDED TO NOT REPLACE IT WITH THE OEM SHOCKS I INSTALLED FOUR NEW AFTER MARKET SHOCK, NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH THE SHOCKS TILL TODAY. IN Q4 LAST YEAR 2019 THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING ISSUE STARTED AGAIN & WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE I RAISED A COMPLAIN AGAIN FOR SHUDDERING ISSUE, THIS TIME THEY SAID WE DON'T HAVE TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER WE ONLY HAVE TO FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WITH NEW OIL, I THINK IT'S MOBIL 1, & I HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT BECAUSE AGAIN CONSUMABLES & NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, HEY WAIT A MINUTE YES I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE PLUS THE SHUDDERING PROBLEM BUT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IS NOT DUE YET FOR CHANGE IF YOU HAVE TO FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEN DO IT, BUT DON'T CHARGE ME BECAUSE OF THE MANUFACTURER FAULT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHAFT ON THE PINION GEAR WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 126,000.
IVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH MY LEAF SPRINGS IN THE BACK, THERES A PEICE OF MY LEAF SPRING THAT HAS BROKEN OFF, I WAS TOLD BY GM THAT I COULD OF BOUGHT IT NEW LIKE THAT, I HAVE 7 OTHER FRIENDS WITH THE SAME KIND OF TRUCK THAT HAVE ALSO HAD THIS ISSUE, CONTACTED GM ABOUT IT AND THEY STILL HAVE FAILED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WAS TOLD THAT IF I HIT THE END BAD ENOUGH THE TRUCK END COULD FALL APART. ITS GETTING BAD TO THE POINT WERE MY LEAF SPRINGS ARE STARTING TO BEND. IM NOW MISSING THE PEICE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE TRUCK.
IN ONLY 600 MILES THE SUSPENSION WAS BEGINING TO FEEL LIKE A BUCKBOARD, AND IF A GOOD ENOUGH SIZED POT HOLE WAS RUN OVER TRHE SOUND WAS SO LOUD AND THERE WAS A DISTINCT BELL GONG RATTLE. THE DEALER SAID THEY DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING PECULIAR, BUT FOR A TRUCK WITH 6000 MILES ONLY AND 1 YEAR, IT FELT 10 YEARS OLD, THIS PROBLEM NEVER WENT AWAY, AND INFACT GOT WORSE, MUCH WORSE
SEVERE FRAME CORROSION (ALL SECTIONS OF FRAME). THE UNDERCOATING IS FLAKING OFF IN ALL SECTIONS EXPOSING BARE METAL WHICH IS RAPIDLY CORRODING THROUGHOUT THE FRAME. THE TRUCK IS IN MINT CONDITION INSIDE AND OUT OTHER THAN THIS ISSUE. GM STATED THAT "RUST" IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY ACTIVE WARRANTY. THIS IS A FAULTY COATING APPLICATION OR A FAULTY METAL ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE WILL BE UNSAFE SOON AND IT JUST HIT 12,000 MILES. I PURCHASED THIS "GM CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED" TRUCK TWO WEEKS AGO FROM THE GM DEALERSHIP AND JUST REALIZED THAT MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED FOR THIS VERY ISSUE. *TR
